To me probably the lens with the best price/performance ratio ever! I have used it so much, especially on trips where I wanted to travel light. I do have that f2.8 Pro version as well and thought I was completely mad to buy it but the rendering of that lens is really something special. Meanwhile I have now all three versions of the 40-150mm lens with the f4 Pro version added. That may leave the f4-5.6 version unused as the f4 version is only marginally larger but definitely better and weather sealed. I will never part from the f4-5.6 version though as it has brought me so much pleasure.
Yeah I think if I were to upgrade this one it would be the f4 and mainly for the weather sealing. But this one does me perfectly given how little I use it since the 12-60 Leica is almost always on the camera🖖
Had this lens for a decade as came as one of two "kit len's with the E-PM1. When used with an E-M1 MKII with its better sensor etc. the fact it's quite slow isn't an issue as just use a higher ISO. which the camera can handle. Any additional noise can easily be handled by the new breed of apps. Got some great shots and video out of this lens even on the lowest tier Olympus cameras. Its also great for close up nature shots as got shots / vids of bees landing on flowers in close up.
I bought one of these along with a 14-54mm F2.8-3.5 when I bought my OM-D E-M5 Mark II, all used. I live in Thailand most of the time so coat pockets are something I don't have but I can still get it into my jeans pocket. All I need now is some talent.
Totally agree with your assessment. I picked up a used copy of the 2.8 pro, but find I only take/use it when I’m certain I need the things it does well (fast aperture for indoor sports primarily). I recently went on a trip and left the pro lens at home in favor of the lightweight alternative, which I carried with me the whole time, and never once limited my ability to get a shot I was wanting. These small, light, cheap(er) and plenty good on the IQ side lenses are where micro 4/3 really shines.
I picked up one of these as-new/cheap on your suggestion last year. Don't use it as much as my shorter lenses so the plastic fantastic of it is no issue. But it allows you to grab images you couldn't otherwise (range/perspective) and it's easy to have with you. Good shout.
Obviously i love this lens. I've been singing it's praises for a while. It simply does the job. I've made the comparisons with the high end competition..and there isn't much in it. Its always in the bag! Bless up Dave!
Yeah you were absolutely spot on with this one. It’s a great lens made even better by the fact it weights and costs very little. Thanks for watching mate, have a good one🖖
Great video and great camera handling on that hawke. 🤣 That lens can produce some fantastic images and is an all round versatile lens that should be part of anyones kit bag.
Well, I for one thought you looked stunning in that direct light. Not all of us can pull that off. Looks like a great lens, despite all those numbers and letters in its name. Good range on that lens for sure and some nice images, and video especially at that price point. Nice work as always pal. Hope you are doing well, have a great weekend.
Haha, cheers mate. Having a face for radio can be challenging sometimes 😂 It’s definitely a surprisingly sharp lens given its price. I’ve no idea what the letters are on this version but there seem to be others. Thanks for watching mate. Take care out there🖖
Could not agree more on this lens, it has some older brothers for the Four Thirds system also that are fab. Definitely a range that Olympus and now OM System have mastered.

@@DavidFlowerOfficial they had to lower the price since it was extremely well used by three times and there was a little scratch on the lens barrel. Shocking, no?
Well, well. I find myself verging on agreeing with most of what you say. What i don't agree with is that this is a lens i need. I don't - more than anything in the world right now i need a Tamron SP Adaptall-2 300mm f/2.8 (60B) - sigh. Re your lens - the only kit lens from the 4/3 days that i've kept is the 40-150. Aperture same as this, i think, and the only 'Standard Grade' kit lens they did that was 'Made in Japan'. I've always thought it was good-as. Is it's successor better? I don't know, but if it is, you'll need to peep to know it. It would make an interesting comparison vid because the first version is out there and inexpensive. Slightly larger, a tad heavier, hood the size of a coffee mug, still eminently pocketable though. Of course, you need the MMF-3 to adapt to MFT, but every MFT shooter should have one of those because the 4/3 glass is great, often faster, and usually less expensive. Also... the consideration that, if you stump up for a fast lens, ie a constant aperture 2.8, and you've got a 1.4X TC, then you've effectively got two usable lenses - in this case a 150 f/2.8 and a 210 f/4 (just another way of looking at economy[?]). Loved your flowery shots at the end, but slightly traumatized by the 'Caution Wet Floor' sign because i often trip over the bloody things. Nice to see you (you're looking awfully pale, though) and looking forward to the next one already. Cheers from the Colonies.
I don’t know how the Panasonic compares to the Olympus so it’s hard to give a recommendation. I do have the Panasonic equivalent, and it's similar. I tested both at a dealer and found the Panasonic more to my liking, but maybe I would go with the Olympus one today (having seen so many good results done with the Oly lens, and having mixed results with the Panasonic). Build quality is better with the Panasonic, and this might be part of my original decision process (and I do have the 12-40 or 42 or 45 or so Panasonic counterpart, the old one, which is actually better than the Olympus equivalent).
