    • @heroninja1125
      @heroninja1125 8 месяцев назад +13

      Companies are obsessed with portability because it looks good on advertisement and makes the device more fragile and likely to break or overheat causing it to break. The faster you buy a new device the better. People claiming it's for lower weight and size for portability are just sloths that can't even carry their own weight in the real world. Most laptops are already lighter then a singular textbook, so you should have no problem carrying extra weight.

    Personally, depending on how bright the LEDs can get on the back, they can serve a rather practical purpose. If on a desk facing a wall, they could provide backlight to help reduce eye strain/fatigue when using the laptop in low lighting. Even if they are not bright enough to reduce eye strain/fatigue in the same scenario, it could project some nice mood lighting! Honestly, I would appreciate seeing this type of review included in your already meticulous overview (if you can find the additional time!).

    After Countless reviews between gaming laptops, after process of elimination, i narrowed my selection down to Razer blade 16 and Alienware X16. the deciding factor which tipped the scale was Dells impressive On-site repair if you find or see ANY defect from manufacture or by yourself. compared to Razers weeks on end waiting as per the Reddit community. Happy to say, This X16 is a BEAST. 13900HK, 32GB ram @ 6000Mhz with RTX4080, its running Starfield out the box no problem. If anyone is doubting this laptop, and don't carrying the charger everywhere you go, this laptop is for you. 90% of the time my X16 is always running on a 27 1440p panel.

The x16 has some nice upgrades on the x15 R2 but not enough for me to want to change. Also in AU at the moment you can't get the 240hz 2560x1600 screen. The one you can get is only sRGB 144hz not 240 DCI-P3 which sucks. The software works well enough I didn't run into the same problems but I wouldn't rate it highly either.

    • @babatundeoshodi6262
      @babatundeoshodi6262 8 месяцев назад

      It is not advisable. This is because Alienware is very particular about cooling(especially for this thin form factor). If you noticed, there are vents/grills just above the keyboard for out-take of hot air. So, closing the lid when gaming on an external monitor won't to great. Especially when it needs all the cooling it can get.

    Dell must be trolling us at this point, its a heavy 2.6kg laptop with the worst performance out of all 4080 laptops, with insane temps, FULLY SOLDERED RAM in 16 inch and an outdated screen.
    And all that for 3000 BUCKS!!! Wow, just wow.
    I would just get ASUS m16 4080 at this point and it will be cheaper, lighter mb even more powerful and with 2 ram sticks and amazing miniled screen.
    But Jarrod, thank you for your review, top notch as always!

    • @grihoriko8800
      @grihoriko8800 Год назад

      @@shreyass2447 well, yes, my mistake, m16 then will be a bit less powerful than x16 but x16 has consistently the worst performance out of all 4080s tested so there might be something else to performance rather than wattage, and btw does it ivalidates my other points? Even with less performance I would get m16 any day over this piece of junk that dell produced.

    • @shreyass2447
      @shreyass2447 Год назад

      @@grihoriko8800 yeah ....the display is dogshit 😂. The only good one is the 240 hz qhd but it seems that the brightness has gone down from last year's display on my m15 r7. Mine can reach 450 nits which is not that high, but acceptable....but it costs almost only a half of this. The performance of the x16 seems really good as it has been compared with thicker laptops running intel hx processors which have 24 cores compared to 14 on the x16 and still the x16 keeps up or even exceeds in some scenarios. Performance wise, the x16 is great, but display is the only thing to nitpick.

    • @grihoriko8800
      @grihoriko8800 Год назад +1

      @@shreyass2447 lol so they went backwards with display.
      And btw there is a razer 16 laptop which is smaller (but not thinner) and with substantially more powerful CPU and full wattage GPU that will be performing as x16 I suppose
      And even they managed to not solder ram on the motherboard!
      But x16 is THIIIIN
      Really, imo, I dont know why it exists, powerwise its not great, screen bad, ram soldered, its massive in all dimensions other than thickness and weight a ton, temps arent great and it costs a small fortune... What is actually good about it that can keep it above the competition? Thinnes? but imo I dont see a point in being so thin but be entire 4 cm deeper than razer 16. Its even deeper than bloody razer 18 by 1.5 cm ffs

    Firstly, thank you for the review. I've been searching for the appropriate laptop for me recently. I'm a last year architecture student and I consider to use the laptop that I'm going to prefer on my works after my graduation. As you may know, in architecture we use some heavy programs such as Corona, 3DsMax, Vray. Therefore, I'm a bit undecided on two different laptops. Should I prefer Dell Alienware M16 Intel i9-13900HX 16" QHD+ 240Hz 32GB 1TB SSD RTX4080 or Lenovo Legion Pro 7 13th Generation Intel Core i9 13900HX-RTX4090 16Gb-32Gb-1Tb Ssd-16"-W11? RAM is soldered because it's Low-Powered (LP) DDR5 clocked at 6000MHz. It is faster than most competitors. LP RAM is more power-efficient, which makes it possible to rechannel the saved power to the GPU, but it HAS TO be soldered. Maximising power allocated to the GPU is also the reason why the CPU is an H version. This machine is beautifully engineered.

      Currently considering a laptop myself for something other than minecraft. I personally don't play minecraft anymore but if you plan on playing Minecraft JAVA on a high-end PC or Laptop and crankong up the settings, I seriously consider downloading Sodium and the other software by the same devs.
      It changes the rendering instructions, allowing more optimized usage on the CPU and GPU, works with a lot of shaders and no quality loss, free performance. Only issue os it may have some compatibility issies with mods. And no, you can't combine it with optifine.
      Optifine is usually for lower-end PC's and Sodium helps higher-end PC's with higher graphics settings. Both are worth a try. If you currently own a PC or laptop.

    • @Peubescent
      @Peubescent Год назад

      @@technologicalelite8076 Yeah sodium and optifine are great but personally I would want a laptop that can run the basic vanilla minecraft so that I can gain even more fps through optifine or sodium.
