GEORGIA GAME WARDEN SHOWS UP...pUbLiC LaNd PrObLeMs | Public Land Deer Hunting

- While deer hunting some Georgia public land I encounter a way more than normal amount of other hunters...alot of HUNTING PRESSURE on this particular WMA (This is what happens when folks HOTTSPOT a particular WMA). I observe serval nice SWAMP BUCKS on this hunt with one being a EXCELLENT DEER that most anyone would pull the trigger on. After scouting various places on the WMA, I am faced with a not so tough decision of calling a GEORGIA DNR GAME WARDEN to turn in an individual for BAITING DEER with CORN on a WMA. Any hunter could of unklowingly setup near this bait on some fresh buck sign and subsequently recieved a citation. This type of thing puts all hunters in jeopardy. Play by the rules or don't play at all. What would you have done???

Another good video sir. Lot people think rules don't apply to them. I was turkey hunting in wma in Se oklahoma and saw bunch of corn. Got heck outta there.

I ran into the same problem on public land in GA. Called the Game Warden , thing about it is where the moron was pouring the corn was in the middle of a cluster of white oaks that were raining acorns and the deer were wearing it out already there was no need to pour corn out all over the ground , pure stupidity, ruined my hunt for sure and I haven't been back to that WMA since because more than likely it was locals that lived close by because I also saw ATV tracks going in and out of the area that was baited . Game Warden never caught them as far as I know so I stay away .
Man that was a beautiful 3.5 yr old 10 pt. Maybe he puts your scent in the ol scent bank and isn’t worried about it when he’s nice and mature 😂

Lone wolf sit n climb with mods. Not sure on weight but it’s not that bad. I routinely carry it several miles each hunt.

Exactly as I would have done. If the Game Wardens had been watching that sight already then they may have been questioning you about it when you showed up. That 10 point had a bad right eye likely from fighting. Still, quite a respectable buck. Personally my standards are 10 point or better at least 3.5 years old, but I prefer more mature bucks at 4.5 years or older. I took a 10 last year on October 25th and a week later on November 2nd I took an 8 that I had been watching and knew to be about 5.5 years or older. He had a pot belly, swayed back, neck melding right into chest and shoulders, heck he even had gray on his muzzle. He was a standard main framed eight point that weighed in at 203 lbs. My season pretty much ended right when it began when I took him. I rarely ever take my two GA bucks as I'm normally a one and done guy. Oh yeah, this is also with a rifle. I hardly ever bow hunt any more. Thanks for the video - sub'd too.
I’m with you. I’d have called as well. I hunt over corn on private land. But as you said, it’s legal there. I believe legal is the only way to go. It’s not that hard to follow the rules.
I do not like legal baiting. What pisses me off more is it is a state law but it’s illegal on state land. They should abolish the law.

@ You’re right, it doesn’t make sense. It’s perfectly legal to bait deer in Georgia. It is a state law. But you are NOT allowed to bait deer on state land, it’s illegal. I am NOT in favor of baiting deer.

While I believe 100% in your tactics on hunting i personally would have minded my own and moved on. Mr green pants is in no way anyone’s friend.
There are bad apples in every profession. Don’t let a bad apple spoil the bunch in your mind.
Secondly, baiting on a wma ruins it for all of us. Laws are laws and without enforcement our public lands would be a carnival.

Good call man to notify the authorities. That's some BS for whomever to have put that out there. And a total disregard to anyone else who may have been hunting there and not even known, as you stated. Do you only use the sit and climb to hunt elevated? No loc on or saddle? I sold my LW climber a few years ago. I can't hardly find the right trees to climb where I need them to be on the WMA I hunt in Tennessee. Good video as usual btw.
@@ALNTV1541 I agree. I have a beast stand I will use when there is a situation where there are not any good trees to climb with my lone wolf. I normally never have a problem in ga. I can climb tiny trees or big ones.

Its illegal to bait at all in TN. I reported a guy across the street who has very blatantly been hunting over corn. The way the law is written here I could get in trouble to hunting land adjacent to it because I know it is there.

By his breathing he was clearly enjoying the encounter without killing that buck. If its not good to tell someone they should have passed a deer its equally questionable to tell someone they shouldnt. Good deer turn into great deer by passing them.

@joshjohnson3352 All I know is if you pass him, there is a chance he will reach an older age class, if you shoot him there is zero chance he makes it to get bigger. Im not trying to discourage you or anybody to take a 3 year old if thats the hunt youre looking for.
@jakewatts3341 all I know is if I pass that deer there 1000 other people who wouldn't think twice. Trust me I wish it wasn't that way but I do live in Ga the most deer hating state in the US

Honestly i agree on that token because i experience the same thing as you. The one good thing to it though is knowing where the pressure is at.
It sucks but it is the way I feel as well. First come first to sit and hunt.
That however does not cover someone sitting in my treestand. I will pass on, but you will not use my stand. And yes this happened. The father of the ? Youngman? Didn’t care for my opinion or his son’s behavior.
It’s real simple. Move your stand in. Use that and stay out of mine. Fortunately a game warden stopped by to check tags, and said that exactly the measure of the intent of the law. No it is not tresspassing. But it is rude.
End of it, I moved my stand further away from the parking 1 1/4 miles to 2. Which actually did me the favor of better hunting and harvesting.

I would have done the same. I know of a guy’s stand who I suspect is baiting public, but he’s using stuff that looks like dirt so I can’t say for sure. When I can prove it I’m calling the hotline 100%

I believe you should always do the right thing , but my experience with Georgia game wardens is not been pleasant , I hunted there several years and had a warden called on me by neighboring land owner who was to scared to approach us about a complaint , see we had accidentally gotten on his property by 12 ft so he called the warden which came to see us opening morning and wrote my party tickets just minor stuff so he could get our info for a lawsuit the neighboring land owner brought against us for thousands of dollars in damages, when I say information I mean ss# name addresses so on so we ended up in court but the case was dropped immediately when the warden realized he should not be giving out ss# to 3rd parties , all the info on our hunting license was on the summons from the court HUH!! Wonder how he got that when we had never met the neighbor, so I hate Georgia never hunted there again or even spent one penny in the state or anyone in my party the way the warden spoke to us was like he hated us we explained the gentleman we leased from was crippled and unable to walk the property lines with us but to no avail we were out of state a$$holes that car in on the weekend and broke the laws and used our dirty money to pay and come back next weekend and do it again , no one in my party had ever had a ticket for game law violations we just a place to take our kids to hunt , I would stay out of Georgia they’ve got issues look at there election boards constantly in the news it’s a corrupt state.

IMO, only clowns shoot over bait. Baiting deer is not hunting deer. Deer are easy to hunt, why waste time and money on bait?
