That is so heartbreaking to me Denise. I am incredibly sorry for your loss. Being the father of 4 sons, I cannot imagine life for them had I not survived. I know nothing I say can give you peace, there is nothing like the loss of a child. When I visited my last neurologist in 2013, I asked him how his other patients were doing, and he told me, "you mean the 53 that have had strokes, the 17 left paralyzed, and the others that are not here with us." I was one of several survivors in the Pittsburgh area at the time. I do suffer some effects of the disease, light sensitivity, short-term memory. There is a good support group on Fakebook for Meningitis survivors.
Very tragic. Before my little brother had bacterial meningitis, I had no clue what it is was or that it was so serious. For about a month we weren’t sure he was going to live. He got very lucky and walked away pretty much unscathed after being near deathly ill.
My brother made it !!!!!!!!!!!. Thank you for the like . They had told me to take him home and basically left him be comfortable at and pass . I said no you do your job and what ever gods will is will happen and hes home with me.
You guys are ridiculous. He didn't have the stiff neck or other typical symptoms of meningitis, and those doctors see far too many patients to be able to give them as much time as they deserve. I'll bet you've never even worked in an emergency department. You have no idea.
shut up. they have a duty of care. doesnt matter how busy they are. its literally illegal to dismiss someones symptoms and you can go to jail@@Adelicows
I'm so sorry, he will be remembered. My husband's girlfriend while they were in college , died from bacterial meningitis. Thank you for talking about Tim and encouraging the vaccine.
Here in the Netherlands we have local doctors who work for area's and those people are the first people you contact when you fall ill or have a medical problem. When i as baby contracted meningitus scepsis my mum called him and he said i will come as soon as possible. My mother said no you need to come now with a panic voice! Being her 4th child my local doctor knew he wasn't dealing with someone trying to push him for something minor. He dropped everything and made a quick visit, and immidiatly called an ambulance. But it all happened so long ago medical facilities weren't near advanced as now were talking 1969 here. It's a miracle i survived with only being deaf one side , and getting crippled due to the many many shots i received.
I am a meningitis survivor its gut wrenching to hear all of these tragic stories. I always wondered why me, my hospital in my small town is notorious for medical malpractice and by the grace of God it was only 1 doctor working there that even heard of meningitis, he recognized my symptoms and gave me a spinal tap, unfortunately my hospital could only diagnose me, they had to call a hospital 2hrs away and i was air lifted. I was in a coma for 2 weeks, once i awoke, i was again airlifted to Atlanta where i made my recovery
So sorry for your loss. I appreciate that you are using your experience to help others avoid having to go through the same thing. Never think that your efforts aren't valuable. You are saving lives that you may never realize!
My father ended up getting disconnected at 8th day of being in life support. Doctor had complained at a random chat that they were having 250 patients coming into their icu a day. I think that had something to do w their decision to disconnect w/o family consent.
My heart goes out to you all I had this horrible thing as a child and it almost took me out according to my mom. My life is not the same mentally and I have nerve tremors at times. But nothing compares to losing your life. Thanks for sharing your story.
I had meningitis when I was 21 so over 25 years ago. I remember the headaches, the nausea and stiff neck.. it got so bad o fell to the bathroom floor and my mother Watch me to the ER where it was very loud and very bright and not helping the doctor was making jokes cause he didn’t think it was as serious as it was and she did a spinal tap and then got he didn’t even though that was extremely unpleasant because I think if I hadn’t gone in then I would’ve developed the rash and the seizures that would’ve along with it and I probably would be dead but they put me in isolation right away and gave me morphine for the pain because it was so bad and headaches I felt like somebody was just squeezing my brain and my head was gonna explode. It took weeks to recover after that complete total nightmare I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy I’m so sorry that they couldn’t save your son they didn’t tell me while I was laying in bed and isolation that I could not wake up the next day they said if it was bacterial I might not make it I guess lucky for me it was the viral Kind I believe there’s five different kinds but I had the viral kind.. I’m so sorry for your loss. The doctors failed him. I cannot believe they didn’t do a lumbar puncture. I hope you sued. RIP to your wonderful son. I’m so so sorry 😞

my cousin collapsed at home at night in the hallway. Doctors told his parents if he hadn't gotten up, he would have been found dead in the morning. He had bacterial meningitis.
My twin brother had a lot of stuff but the doctors think that it was meningitis that was the main cause however you don't have a clear answer on how etc of his death. He passed on April 9th 2021
Thank you for sharing this .I know how fast it affects you as my son got meningitis at the age of four. We were swimming at a public pool where he fell hitting his bottom. At that time he seemed fine got up and started playing and swimming with his siblings and cousins. On our way home he said his head was hurting and by time we pulled up to our house he got out of the car and laid

You was in the U.S Navy at 17. Mmm, don't the Armed forces require you to get vaccinated..
