Linda Ronstadt is one of the underrated singers of all times. This girl can sing anything - opera, country and western. Pop, rock, punk, songs from the 40s, anything! I have all her albums and she remains to this day, my biggest musical influence beside Barbra Streisand. I felt so very sad to learn about her illness and that beautiful singing bird had lost her voice. She is amazing, and President Obama was so awesome for honoring her! To my way of thinking, she should have been honored so much more through the years. I love you so much, Linda. Your Dad taught you well!
How have I not before realized how incredible this song is? Because it is the name of my favorite album by Linda Ronstadt. And this performance has so much feeling put into it. Her entire career was so phenomenal. She left behind so much for us to enjoy!
I think her live performances were fuller and more expressive than the somewhat reserved studio recordings. At times her touring band may have been superior to the studio group.
In an interview, Linda said she performed much better before a live audience than she did in a sound studio.
I have forgotten what a talent she was, breaks my heart that she can no longer give us her wonderful music...

No one does authentic vocal sadness like Linda. Being Cool is easy enough but to be respected and beloved in a dirty rotten business now that is something. A real live girl. Sigh...
Linda would work these tunes out on the road. In person she was sublime. Clear emotional release of her heart and Southwestern soul.
