Lost my virginity in the back of a Falcon panel van in Canberra with this song playing in the cassette deck with a beautiful girl named Michelle from St Clare's College. It was 1984, I was 17, I was in love and whenever I hear this song it transports me back there!
Bloody well said david, i totally utterly and completely agree with every word you spoke, did you ever have the phenomenal experience of seeing them play live ????
Denilson Carreiro Im certain it would have been fucking awesome Denilson, i only wish i could remember what the year was when i saw em at the old entertainment center lol
Yes this is a great song one of my favorites. I was at a friend's place on the day Michael passed. It was just 5 minutes away from where Michael was. It was so sad i was devastated. Such a sad day.
What an awesome era… life seemed so much simpler and free… could pay for a ticket at the airport and pretty much fly anywhere u wanted too without feeling like u we’re going through a prison lineup
Always have loved the smile of the old lady at 1:45 when Michael sings, "I love the look in your eyes". It is something we should all do more often, because the memory of a smile can last forever.
Absolutely my Favourite INXS album,it killed me that they never played this song live when on tour after KICK came out I used to wait so patiently, but it never happened lol
@@renzy5270 Oh! Hope may have in Other Great concerts, Shows!, sorry! U didn't get a chance if Inxs may never played it! Reallyyyyy! In their Repetoire! I remember being mesmerised by this song at their live concert in Darwin in 1986. Actually I was mesmerised by a backing singer, Jenny Morris, who was wearing a tight body suit on the night. A great singer in her own right.
i love inxs since 1988. i went to see them at summer xs 1991 at wembley stadium. i love the swing album. inxs greatest fan (ALEXIS FROM COVENTRY , ENGLAND
I remember that year when they came to Townsville in 1985 the concert the Dean Park sound shell sold out and was the biggest concert ever in Townsville at the point. Over 7000 tickets sold I recall. The house in the video with a guy sitting out on the porch was at the end of my Street. Denham st in the CBD.
Know the house in Townsville where they are sitting on the steps and the concert footage is I am pretty certain from the Soundshell gig which had the wonderful The Reels as the support
"Burn For You" It's no use pretending That I understand The hide and seek we play with facts It changes our demand Tilt my hat at the sun And the shadows they burn dark Light me and I'll burn for you And the love song never stops I like the look in your eyes When you talk that certain way I love the day in the life When you know that lover's way Minding my own business When you came along Temperatures been running hot The fever was so strong Tilt my hat at the sun And the shadows they burn dark Light me and I'll burn for you And the love song never stops Don't stop it It's always an adventure The fantasies we make a fact Your the secret I desire I can't keep that to myself When we're not together It doesn't feel so bad We could be so far apart But our love's not sad It's no use pretending Cause I understand The hide and seek we play with facts It changes our demand
They road tested The Swing on the tour featuring the Queensland footage. The house in the clip where they are sitting on the steps is just before the Catholic cathedral up against the hill and the concert footage I am pretty certain is from a fantastic gig at the Townsville Soundshell (long gone) with The Reels as suppory
The 1980s what a decade. All the bands. Icehouse inxs duran Duran ultravoux radiators midnight oil dragon split enz spy v spy vanitions. List goes on and on. The 80s had it all.
Classic aussie rock! If INXS didn't write there own music and actually play the instruments they'd be a boy band. But they were an amazingly talented (and capable) band that could be both beautiful AND talented.
The beginning of this song makes me think of Sydney Harbour back in the 80s. Its so sad that time passes so quickly. We just have savour every day. Good times don't last forever. The chime of that bell and that glockenspiel sound. I love it. Could meditate to it all day.
This song and Gangajangs Sounds of Then are Australian national anthems of drinking on the patio. We were in Townsville with the power out and had this on the boom box on the verandah sinking coldies while watching a category 4 cyclone build up. Iconic sounds.
Im in love with Michael, he and Jim Morrison are the ultimate front men of all time. RIP jim and michael you were and always will be true gods of rock.
Without exception one of the ultimate songs ever recorded and released by an Australian band, I will play this one on Australia Day as it really makes proud to be an Australian. Nothing out now compares to this!
"12inch"Thats A Burning Hot Long Track! ❤️🔥🔥❤️Great Golden Hits deserve A fuller❤️ longer rockn Great Ace Version! Thanks for the headsup! And Sharing for One Of Beautiful Micheal Inxs FavBest tracks❤️!
Reminds me of driving down the M4 motorway from Granville to the blue mountains back around 1995 blasting this on the car radio. Back when western Sydney was good
1984 I was doing my electronics course in the Navy at Cerberus when this came out. I remember Mackay only having 35,000 population, which I thought was quite a lot at the time. It now has around 135,000.
This is the song that landed them big time! I was all of 14 years old and the ABC was playing this EVERY damn afternoon right after Monkey Magic and just before the news
It takes me back to a time of happiness positivity and good times all round this music is the back drop fro the 80's and the days of large arena festivals like australian made which was the first time I saw them at 14 years old . I am so lucky to have met michael and jon the biggest spunk alive xx. One of the best live acts around of all time
Love inxs everytime i hear inxs it reminds of the good times in rhe good old days not that there cant be more good time because there has and there will be also one of mums favourite bands
Great clip! It was a lucky accident that Lowenstein followed INXS to London. I love the way the song builds and tracks the narrative of the video as the band transitions from playing gigs around Qld to hitting the big time OS.
I was one of the original backing vocalists for this song in the studio
who were the others?
Cool actually
I was just about to comment that the back up vocalists are just as iconic as the track....all around aussie classic
OM Lord! how did that feel hon?
Bloody hell! I have never seen them perform let alone have that in my memory! Well done 😍

Burning hot like a cast iron kettle that night I bet ;)

Should've been a Holden panel van!!!
This is one of the saddest stories I’ve read in RUclips comments.

Michael Kelland John Hutchence 1960 -1997 R.I.P beautiful boy.
I LOVE THIS SONG. It's the uncorrupted vigour of youth and makes me weep. One of the best songs from INXS' best album.
Bloody well said david, i totally utterly and completely agree with every word you spoke, did you ever have the phenomenal experience of seeing them play live ????
+Jamie Stuart I saw them live on march 11, 1994. Great show! They were powerful together and Mike was fantastic!

I agree Andrew.. it goes beyond makeup and shite- loved your comment thanjs
I miss INXS more every day despite it's 27 years or something like that since we lost Michael this song is one of the reasons why.
This is real music unlike the crap of these days

Nope :/
Screaming jets
Carl Jang-And the hit album it came off of as you know: The Swing which came out in 1984 + recorded for 5 months in 1983 :-)
I hear you. 14 at the time. Hutchence was God to me.
Their best album. I wore this out (Johnson"s Aeroplane, Dancing on the Jetty my favs).

"Burn For You"
It's no use pretending
That I understand
The hide and seek we play with facts
It changes our demand
Tilt my hat at the sun
And the shadows they burn dark
Light me and I'll burn for you
And the love song never stops
I like the look in your eyes
When you talk that certain way
I love the day in the life
When you know that lover's way
Minding my own business
When you came along
Temperatures been running hot
The fever was so strong
Tilt my hat at the sun
And the shadows they burn dark
Light me and I'll burn for you
And the love song never stops
Don't stop it
It's always an adventure
The fantasies we make a fact
Your the secret I desire
I can't keep that to myself
When we're not together
It doesn't feel so bad
We could be so far apart
But our love's not sad
It's no use pretending
Cause I understand
The hide and seek we play with facts
It changes our demand
Such a quintessentially Aussie track.
Start of this song . bring back memories of my past
cant believe my mum got to see them live when they came here to Townsville! i wish i could see them, sadly i was born in the wrong time period.

dms3393 yeah they really carved out their own sound and the world fell in love with them.
The Swing best inxs album
The beginning of this song makes me think of Sydney Harbour back in the 80s. Its so sad that time passes so quickly. We just have savour every day. Good times don't last forever. The chime of that bell and that glockenspiel sound. I love it. Could meditate to it all day.
+Tone Mac ...more of a carillon sound if you ask me, but yes I'm with you on all you say
This is also Perth in the 80s trust me.
Time passes but nothing can change that. The best we can do is remember the good times and enjoy every minute of our lives.
I always hear those 2 things first too, sets the magic tone. Really miss the legendary Michael Hutchence. 🌹
this song gives me goose bumps and makes my eyes welt.
This song and Gangajangs Sounds of Then are Australian national anthems of drinking on the patio. We were in Townsville with the power out and had this on the boom box on the verandah sinking coldies while watching a category 4 cyclone build up. Iconic sounds.
Tilt my hat at the sun...I now live on an island outside of townsville, I grew up on inxs this is magic, miss the sexy swagger Hutchence xx

Dammit give me back my youth and innocence!
Today 1997 hard to forget. Listening in 2019. Tilt my hat in memory and appreciation of the music you made. Still burning x
This use to get air time at The Exchange hotel on Oxford St Sydney in the mid 80's it would pack the dance floor, still love it in 2018.

What a time to be in OZ!
Never been to Australia but have loved them since 1987 when kick was released caught up with the back catalogue and this is one of my favourites
Be good to have ya visit mate
Im in love with Michael, he and Jim Morrison are the ultimate front men of all time. RIP jim and michael you were and always will be true gods of rock.
My sister had a crush on Michael Hutchence AND had the Doors album. You seem to have similar tastes.
They're almost the same person, I love both of them
I think you can add in Bon Scott, Doc Neeson & Angry Anderson as "ultimate frontmen" as well.
Those were the days!
one of my fave INXS tracks
This touched my heart being from Cairns. Rest in paradise Michael
Most underrated INXS song by a mile. Doesnt make many top 10 songs of theirs but I love this tune. Top 5 easily. That intro

1984 I was doing my electronics course in the Navy at Cerberus when this came out.
I remember Mackay only having 35,000 population, which I thought was quite a lot at the time. It now has around 135,000.
Awesome!
My home town of Cairns has 300 000 now, but was 48 000 back then. When FNQ was the wild frontier.
Love this, reminds me of so many good childhood memories.I’ve always thought that the Intro sounds like heart of glass.
I love the cool down part of the song. I prefer their pre 'kick' stuff, Very Aus to me. Michael was such a gem.
I would kill to meet Michael one day personally...such a charisma!
