Always loved this one.
My younger brother was an avid fan and had tickets to their April 2, 1991 performance but he died similar to the way Michael died, 3 weeks before the show. I sent a telegram to INXS asking them to play a song for him. I went to the Oakland Coliseum show that night in my brother’s place with his best friend, and Michael announced ’We’re gonna play some new songs for ya, from X, this is a song for a guy called Tim, who is somewhere in…Heaven’ then the band broke into ‘By My Side’. I love these guys so much.

My favorite music was stuff like Jane's addition and the misfits but then somehow inxs just pulled me in too.

@@aarontbradley1 agreed..I was a little kid when inxs would come on the radio.."disappear" was on rotation back then, maybe around 1990ish...I always wanted to hear that song on the radio.
Then I became a teen in 93 when alternative and punk and grunge and metal were at their zenith and I discovered stuff like the misfits and Danzig and nofx and dead Kennedy's and Blatz and alternative stuff like Nirvana of course and James addiction and MTV stuff that was played all the time..
And then bands like Inxs were no longer popular and not played on the radio and barely on VH1 and MTV..but I had an inxs tape, KICK, and I would listen to it when my friends weren't around.
Today I don't hide what I like. I'm 41 and I just like what I like I guess...I still like the music I enjoyed as a teen and as a kid..I cant just listen to just one inxs song..it starts here and I can let an hour go by and I'm still clicking on all those INXS songs.

But, if someone wants to find better music, consult your local NPR affiliate or find a good college radio station! Additionally, there are tons of great indie and alternative radio stations all over the country like 92ZEW, Birmingham Mountain Radio, WMVY, WXPN, KGSR….

When my daughter was 3, I had INXS' "Kick" on in the car. She asked to look at the CD booklet. After about 5 minutes, I looked back to see her staring longingly at Michael Hutchence's picture and running her fingers back and forth over his hair. I knew I was in trouble then.
She's 18 now and, though she's never really been a fan of INXS, both of her boyfriends HAVE had a resemblance to Michael.

O INXS era um grande exemplo de que o POP pode ser aliado a qualidade musical. Esta música é simplesmente espetacular, rica em arranjo, acordes precisos de piano, um ótimo trabalho de bateria e baixo com grooves envenenados. Na segunda parte uma levada a la Beatles ( minha opinião) só faz enriquecer a música ainda mais. A melhor música deles!

No Michael, your time with us was not enough
It's something.. I turn 43 in a week. Just existing the last 3 months of this pandemic. I was 20 when he died. At 20, sure 37 is too young. Not as young as those in the 27 club but still too young. At 43, in a pandemic, unable to see my 13 year old 23 miles away in a school for nonverbal autistic kids, put their by children and youth, the most heartbreaking thing ever, I do understand the pain Michael felt the last night of his life when he was excited and hanging on looking forward to seeing his daughter, then upset when he was told it wasn't gonna happen.. I thank God I never chose drugs and alcohol! It really can make a difference. The Lord was in charge of my birth and He and He alone knows when he wants me home in heaven ✝️🙏❣️. It's just weird to be older than famous people who died young. Because at 43, you understand how way to young it was.

Parametros atuais não são suficientes para projetar, qualificar ou quantificar a qualidade musical desta musica para a época. As réguas de hoje e suas medias não são as mesmas do passado e portanto são inúeis para mensurar os sucessos dos nos 80 e 90. Uma pop Music que beira a pefeição, agradava aos ouvidos mais exigentes do mundo afora, e não existem musicos hoje capazes de reproduzirem tanta qualidade musical, e nunca mais existirá musicos e instrumentistas assim. Um som impossível de ser criticado por qualquer musico profissonal nos quatro cantos da terra! Digo, afirmo e aposto! Até porque hoje, no Brasil, ninguém sabe tocar bem um belo instrumento musical, como um piano clássico, uma flauta, um baixo, bateria, uma percussão de primeira linha, uma flauta, ou uma harpa. Multi instrumentistas fazem falta nos dias de hoje enquanto naquéla época era MATO! Por isto as musicas da década de 70, 80 e 90 são de qualidade e as de hoje são só batucadas de favelados que entendem nada de música. E o mundo todo ama as musicas daquela época. E não adianta ficar de mimimi. A Verdade é uma só. A musica atualmente perdeu tanta qualidade como a qualidade de ensino! Uma merda, que vai de mal a pior.
Eu acompanhava toda a trajetória deles. Os shows eram incríveis. Hutchence suicidou-se em seguida. Eu não esperava por aquilo. Foi um choque. Ele deixou uma memória musical inquestionável. Patrimônio da musica mundial ao lado de New Order e Pet shop Boyz. Tudo da mesma época!

I graduated HS this exact year, 1992. I was there, too. Also, Hutchence's mother blames Satanist Bob Geldof. MH didn't die in a shower or jerking-off or any other rumor. He was executed.

Tim plays some if the catchiest riffs. Andrew with his keyboard, songwriting and harmonica. Last but not least Kirk who is one super talented musician. Between back ups rhythm and sax. Kirk was the one who made me want to play sax in middle school

I've just seen " Mystify" the rock documentary on Michael and the band. May he R. I. P. Its not very often I will say "I love this man". A beautiful spirit, a beautiful man. There is a saying, " only the good die young." He was to good for this world. Now I understand the lyrics of some of their songs like "Not Enough Time", "By My Side", Beautiful Girl". 👍✌️👌
I was crying when the film was over. Back in that time I was well aware the scandal and the his troubles with the press. But I never knew how much pain he was in, especially in the very last year. It all ended tragically, but his music (lyrics) lives on

This song can fit snuggly anywhere into U2’s Achtung Baby. Both bands were both at their creative apex at this point. Bono and Michael could both mesmerize an audience with just a glance. Difference is Michael was never as appreciated or highly regarded as he should have been. He was an amazing genius.

Saw him live with INXS at the old RFK stadium in DC at a 4th of July show around '88 or '89, what a performance. edit on 4/25/17, it was actually '93, I just checked to see when they were at RFK, sorry about that, memory is not clear on they year, but I vividly remember the show. it was an all day event with a lot of other bands, but INXS was the headliner. We were from Va Beach Va and we had met some girls there earlier that summer. We headed up to DC to stay with them and see the show. It started at like 10 a.m. that morning. I can't recall any other bands, I could have researched and found out, but if I can't remember I guess it's only INXS that thrilled me. I can remember eating at Dennys before the show after a very long night of drinking. Great memory, sorry to ramble.
