I just picked up a 1980 Evinrude 25hp SS,Tiller,Rope start on CL for a good price(?) and sell it after getting it working and thought I would go back over these videos since the lower unit is this style and I am not familiar with these.I guess you can't run them on muffs?Has that water bypass plate on it?Have spent a few hours going thru things and compression and spark are good.Cleaned carb.Unclogged pee hose.Adjusted link/Sync.Alittle water came out lower unit, not sure about amount of gear oil in it..Amazing someone had power pack off long ago and put it on upside down and it rubbed the top cover and wore a big hunk out of it and power pack, but I guess it still works, sparked jumped far on my tester?
One of my Evinrude engines actually has the shift rod connector a part that is 9.5 inches long and like the case spacer is just removed to concert to short shaft. Then you just need the standard little rod connector. Imma gonna convert my 72 Sportster 25 HP into a short shaft so appreciate your efforts. Looks easy enough the shortening of drive shaft is the hardest part?
Hey. Thanks for tuning in. Probably. But go to marinengine.com and check the schematic on both outboards and make sure they match up. Thanks again & Stay tuned !
Hope your having fun with the 40hp still?I have Question on a motor I.D.?Drug home a $60 Craigslist Special"!!The motor is a tiller long shaft and the I.D. tag on clamp is destroyed. The one on powerhead says it is a E30RCCE. Should the powerhead plug show an "L" for long shaft or do they not typically denote that on the powerhead..I knew it was loaded with issues, but I think it is a true parts motor due to the amount of parts it would take to get it running.I am going to check compression today maybe, but this thing needs tons done to it if it has good compression.May throw the carb. on my 25hp.
Yeah man. Today was "Fun with Spark Plugs" day! yeah I think there should be an L but it dosent really matter much with that extension piece. still an 88 30hp long or short. yeah throw that carb on the 25. 👍
@@THISOLDOUTBOARD1 thanks..The one reason I asked the parts listing shows a different part # for the two upper motor mounts for long and short shaft.I was hopeing to salvage them for my 25hp short shaft so not sure if they would be ok to use, but they are pretty worn.I may throw acouple videos together on this motor just for the fun.
Boa noite adoro seus vídeos pena que eu não sei nada de inglês sou brasileiro eu tenho um motor Johnson 70n ano 74 meu motor é novo mais não tem força para sair
Merry Christmas to This Old Outboard!
