  • The main difference between advanced and mediate producers is in detail. After learning the basics and practising for a couple of years, we all reach a certain level where we already know everything we are aware of. But, some things are not so obvious. And a lot of these small thing are actually making our track sound a way better composed. This is the first video of this type, and in this video, you will learn how to use a simple background sequence to boost the track's energy level without interrupting the already-made story that is running through your track. These sequences I call Tension Builders, and they are a powerful way to increase track development and create a whole track more powerful and interesting.

    great video! Could you explain how to work well together on a track? I often try this with a friend, but we find it really difficult. We can't (yet) find a good structure to be really productive. Maybe that's a topic for another video of yours.

      The best teams seem to be producer + artist combos, where each individual has a role to play.
      I recently read an article on Rodger Waters and David Gilmore getting into arguments about the direction they envisioned Dark Side of the Moon heading in. basically, the engineer acted as a mediator to find common ground between the conflicting directions the two different artists had.
      Perhaps you should explore what the different roles in the project are and how those roles can coalesce

    Aww nice been really wanting to up my riser/tension building game, perfect timing. Thankyou for the video
    Also when eq’ing the lows, could you just put a low cut on just the mono frequencies around 150hz? Therefor giving the kick bass it’s room whilst having the the power of the 100-200hz still coming through but out in the stereo field.. for more power?

      @EClipChannel  5 месяцев назад

      Mono or stereo, my idea is to reduce the lows behind kick and bass. Even if they are on side only, i would still place them behind kick and bass. But, it depends from a taste, you might like the opposite. There’s no right or wrong!
