You should really consider northwestern. Their flute students are KILLING it lately. They are so underrated

Super cool video!!! I just started my music major and am so excited! I love watching videos like this that share widsom and experience regarding music school. I'd love to know, what's your favourite piece/dream piece to play? I'd love to play the Ibert Concerto by the end of my degree! Also, may I ask, how many hours a day do you practice. I'm aiming for 4, but I usually only get about 2 in

Thanks for watching! Those are good questions. I'm trying to learn Chant de Linos at the moment, and wow! That piece is a monster. Ibert is definitely a great goal piece. I'm sure you can do it.
I like to aim for practice goals instead of practice time. I would recommend to do enough so that you are prepared for all your deadlines, but not too much that you hate it or get burned out. I like to have a list of objectives that I update weekly for what specific technical exercises/pieces I am working on. The more specific the better. That being said, I usually just practice whenever I can fit it in my schedule, and it's important to have other things in your life too! It would probably surprise people to see how much I prioritize the gym, sleep, relaxation, family instead of practicing. It's about staying consistent over many years, not being a hero on any one day. I hope this helps.
