  • Comparing my 2014 KTM 250 XCF-W with my buddy's 2006 Honda CRF 250X. Both bikes are excellent trail/woods bikes for the new or seasoned rider.
The KTM has more features like Brembo brakes, Brembo hydraulic clutch and fuel injection. The CRF is cheaper and probably a bit more reliable. Either bike is a great choice.
Check out my full reviews of each bike for more information.

As a crf250x owner I can say that the valves tighten up pretty quickly. But it's easy to adjust the shims.

Just freaky I found this video. I got a CRF250F for myself in May. I had not ridden in 25(?)+ yrs and it's true what they say - it's a modern XR. I love it! Significant investment (new), but I got the crossed flags a few years ago and will keep it 'til I will it to my kids. I got my (never ridden motorcycles) kids a little TTR-110 to see if they like riding. One does, one doesn't. They are WAY too big for that 110. Yesterday I looked at a 2013 KTM250XCF-W not knowing much about them. It's got what I consider a lot of hours (194 on the meter), but is adult owned (3rd owner), and he knows the 1st two owners. He's somebody who's been into riding dirt bikes for years and clearly is doing maintenance. I think I'm gonna go ahead and buy it. Probably going to be just under the $4k he's asking. Thanks for posting this.

Is the X significantly more difficult to get (dual sport) plated & set-up, from the F or L ? I’m an XR ‘Fan Boy’, but CLEAN one’s cost as much as ‘modern’ options. As an old guy, with jacked knee, I’ve got to stay focused on e-start bikes. But, I’ll always love the XR 250/400

Ive never played one so not sure. But the x has oem switches for a horn amd turn signals. So shouldmt be too bad. Electric start is hard to beat once you get used to it.

How do you like the FMF exhaust?/ I am having trouble finding any aftermarket exhaust that will fit my 2013 xcf-w

You will see my other reply too but just in case…. I thought it sounded great on the bike and it performed really well. Never had any issues with it starting idling or not running well. It sounded great as it revved out, but was never obnoxious. They are fun bikes. Hope you enjoy yours.

Both looking great. Which one is your favorites?

Thanks! Probably the KTM. Like on the Raptor, fuel injection is tough to beat. Has enough snow melted yet for you to get back to wheelie practice?

@@FunGoingFast Yeah. This weekend plan to ride on some new areas with new group and hope if everything goes ok to post new sunny video next week. As the weather will become better will do some new wheelies practice for sure 💪🏻

I plan on trail riding in pretty rocky hills and I am 135 lbs and around 5 8 and I have been trying to decide between the ktm 200 xcw and the ktm 250 xcfw. I would be in low rpms mostly but will still need the power to pull me up some decent hill climbs. Any input would be awesome

Sure. In that scenario Id go with the 200. Its a billy goat and will make that terrain fun. The xcfw likes to be wound out more and would take a bit more work to ride in thar terrain. The 200 is tough to beat in any kind of technical terrain. But still has plenty of pep. The XCFW handles faster terrrain better but you cant beat the 200 in the tricky stuff. And with a Rekluse its pretty much unstoppable. Good luck.
