ChatGPT WILL REPLACE ALL SOFTWARE ENGINEERS? (Yeah probably)

My short lucrative Software Engineering career at big tech firms (Google, Amazon and Uber) is coming to an end. ChatGPT is taking over the world by storm. And I needed to make a video talking about it to revive this dying channel. Hope yall enjoy the video this week.

AI isn't meant to replace us. It's meant to assist us and do the tedious tasks for us. Software Engineering contains alot of technicalities and tradeoffs that are only deeply understood by skilled programmers and scientists. I think those who claim otherwise don't really know what they're talking about..

I've noticed it solves almost all relatively basic math problems completely incorrectly in complete confidence for instance asking it for the roots of some polynomial

I noticed when I asked chatGPT to make a simple compiler/transpiler/abstract syntax tree. It completely failed and basically did a "split by newline and pass to a 'to be determined' transpile function".

My worry isn't chatgpt, it's certainly not enough to replace programmers, but the path to actually replacing programmers is much shorter now.
Imagine a tool using similar tech to chatgpt, except it can refine its answers, has full access to a debugger and all the tools we have. All that information would likely be enough for it to actually be enough to make at least simple projects.
There's no telling where the limit of this tech is. Not until we hit it.
