Cool innovation but I also feel like it’s going to cause problems if the card can’t power without it on. I’m sure there is a sensor that detects the cable and sensors can go bad.
This could be a solution but to me it's more of a band aid-ish since the GPU won't power up and has a light indicator. I'd rather the connector have 3 or 4 security clips or locking mechanism on each side to ensure that the power cable won't come off even if you wiggle it. How to remove the cable with those clips on is another challenge for the designer. I like both this idea and mine. Kudos to Zotac.

Other brands just use a colored connector where if you see the color its not in all the way
This used to be the standard in amd cards back during the navi days
If im not able to get a FE, I might go with Zotac. I like the design they went with this time around.
Better than the bars of soap most of the 40s were, I got me the 4070 Ti Super HoloBlack Edition as I was always wanting one of the 30s in that design, I also love the Apocalypse Edition from the Asian market.
Imagine the GPU being mounted Horizontally and that light is hidden and they think their GPUs is broken as they cannot see the little red light and their GPU isn't powering on.
I would have preferred to see a better implementation of the power socket so you can’t get it wrong. A little red light is susceptible to fail and then you’re in the same position.
Thank you for mentioning this. I have no idea why other reviewers are sleeping on this. My 4080 melted.
This has been a topic for months and there was a lot of research and deep dive going on why these connectors fail.
imagine having an electronic device that can draw 6-7 amps from your wall not having a fuse tho.
Cool innovation but I also feel like it’s going to cause problems if the card can’t power without it on. I’m sure there is a sensor that detects the cable and sensors can go bad.
2x RTX 5090 has to be crazy. Bring SLI back 😂❤
1200w of power draw on a psu might be a tad much
@ I don’t think that 600 watts each are realistic
@luis-sein-mini-me Well if your properly using both gpus, each can get up to 100% usage as shown with the 3090's
Bro is trying to rizz us in the thumbnail 💀
This is beautiful. I wont buy a gpu with one of those connectors but this solves that for me
I started going with Zotac after EVGA left, I really love them. Super solid GPU’s.
Video Idea: As someone who's going after a 5080 right away, can you do a "Drop Guide for dummies?" Where to buy, etc etc.
Zack when the 50 series and 9000 series come out can you make a 1200 or 1300$ 1440p PC build I’ll appreciate it you’re the 🐐.
5070 or amd equivalent, 7600x, cl 30 6000mhz ram, 1-2tb nvme ssd, 750-850w psu, b650 motherboard
Easy peasy
It's good to see you supporting physical and more practical system then nonsense but I don't have pc😐
This is nonsense. Why on earth do you need a light to tell you if your connector is in properly
@adamgreenwood9922 Well comparing to amd and older nvida cards it's a simple click, nobody want to force it too much when your touching 2k+
I had a zotec 4090 for a week or so, beautiful card but the fan noise was a deal breaker for me
The 5000 series sure is amazing! It will probably drop the prices of 500 series enough so i can finally get a FX 5000 series!
I had that on my Radeon HD7970 back then. 2 leds, 1 for each 8 pins. It should be mandatory.
The fact that not setting fire to your house is now a selling point shows how little amount of sh*t Nvidia gives.
Crazy that little thing is powerful than the gpu blocking it
Depends on the card, my 4080 Super from Asus doesnt have an indicator light.
Rookies after buying one of those GPUS
"Oh nice, the lights on, guess that means im good to go, since, just like my PC, a light being on means things are turned on and working!"
i heard about the melting of the port, didnt know the cause. Good to know now since im planning on building a pc soon
Imagine calling frames created with one technology in video game more fake than frames created in a video game with different technology. 🤯
Thank you, zotac, for taking in consumer safety as a priority
Always shove the cable in until there is no more space in between. Thats it.
This is neat, but i have already been sold on what model(s) i want to look at. However my msi psu with the 12v cord has come in clutch with the colored plugs so as long i dont see any yellow than it's plugged all the way in.
I love Zotac. My first GPU was a GTX 470 Zotac. Damn, i never forget the sound of that GPU. When fanspeed hit 80% i knew the earth would start spinning towards opposite axis. When it hit 100% it created a supernova, followed by a black hole that reset everything in the universe including the calender. That was 2010.
i dont know, maybe people should just push it in until it clicks
No no this not just an ordinary innovation! They should have integrated this feature in the founders edition cards
I did way too much force when plugging it in and I broke it in half thankfully it still worked
Now if they were also allowed to add more vram, I'd almost be intersted in the new Nvidia cards
