Swiss Bicycling: Panoramastrasse Oberaar 4K

Enjoy summer in the high Alps in this there-and-back ride on the restricted Panoramastrasse Oberaar. The ride starts at 2164 m and follows a small road with wonderful views on the Grimselsee, a large water reservoir, and the surrounding mountains. Some of the highest mountains in the Alps, reaching over 4000 m, are visible on this ride including for example the Finsteraarhorn. This traffic-free ride is idyllic, mountain flowers blooming and rocks glistening along the roadway. The ride continues to the Oberaarsee, another water reservoir. We can see in the distance the Oberaar glacier emptying its melt waters in this lake. At the dam, we turn around and return on the same road, with entirely different views. The ride ends back at the summit of the Grimsel Pass, from where we started.
