- One of the world’s greatest driving road !
Furka Pass is the legendary Swiss mountain pass that gained fame after it was featured in a car chase scene in the James Bond movie “Goldfinger” from 1964. An Aston Martin DB5 and a Ford Mustang climbed this scenic driving road, located in the Uri/Valais region of Switzerland. More than 50 years later the landscapes have remained almost the same, and this is most certainly a road in the Alps that those in search for the best driving roads in Europe should experience. It is many people’s favourite road, and it might become yours too.
Driving Furka Pass
Furka Pass is situated close to other scenic roads. If you are approaching it from north you might drive over Grimsel Pass before arriving to the bottom of Furka, and if you approaching it from south it is possible you will find yourself on top of Nufenen Pass before reaching Furka Pass. In our personal opinion you will experience the most exciting climb if you are driving it from west to east, since this is where the tightest hairpins are located. Once you have reached the bend where the now closed Hotel Belvedere still stands we advice you to stop to enjoy the scenery, take a walk inside the Rhone Glacier Ice Grotto, or just grab a coffee with a view. Furka Pass looks incredible from all angles - whether you are looking up from the valley, ready to start your engine and tackle the hairpins up to Belvedere, or have reached it already and look down at the valley and Rhone River.
The road that continues from Belvedere and Realp is also very scenic, with nice straights and of course even more hairpin corners. The altitude of this mountain pass is 2,429 metres above sea level, which makes it the fourth highest paved mountain pass in Switzerland. Because this region of Switzerland gets a lot of snow in the winter the season for the road is not very long. It opens every year in June and usually closes again in October. In the winter when the road is closed you can transport your car by train in the Furka Base Tunnel, connecting Realp and Oberwald. Although the Furka car train operates 365 days a year we really advice you to forget about this option in the summer, if you like us enjoy driving and spectacular views.

Mark, every time you upload a new video, you make my eyes pop out even further. The way the road snakes through the mountains providing with every twist and turn, another exclamation of wonder. I loved how from the higher points you could see the village, in the far distance, in the valley. I never appreciated this kind of majesty until I started watching your videos. Your POVs give us a perspective that could never be as appreciated if they were from a side view. You have us right next to you the whole time. As always, beautiful music. You say that eventually you plan on doing this full time. I don’t know if I’ll be able to keep up with output. You warm my heart.
I love your posts! I just watched this video for the third time on our 70” 4K TV, and looking past the hood of his car, it’s like I’m driving myself! And the soundtrack adds to the emotional experience of the “Ride”. The stunning beauty of the Swiss Mountains are complimented by Marks choice in the music he chose for the soundtrack.

Last 6 minutes that's where the actual beauty of this ride begins 🤩
The snake-like roads snaking along the sides of the magnificent mountains ranges, the gorgeous houses and buildings along the route, and the beautiful waterfalls on the side of the road along with rivers besides the road make this scenic drive satisfying and not to be missed! What I mostly observed here is the absence of blaring horns even on blind curves. Why is it so? It's because drivers here fully understood the mutual understanding on road courtesy that you as a driver are always on your side of the lane, even how sharp is the hairpin turns!

Best way to watch this is at 1.5 speed on mute, with some Eurobeat drifting music like Manuel's "Gas Gas Gas" or something equally cranking opened up in another YT tab. Bananarama "Venus" or Falco's "Vienna Calling" also make the mark. Highly recommend the experience.

After watching this for the third time, I’m still shaking my head at the stunning images seen on this trip! And to the “Flying Dutchman” I commend you for adding such beautiful soundtracks to your videos. You have a great taste in music, obviously similar to mine. And watching on our very large 4K Flatscreen, it’s like sitting in the car 🚗 and driving myself.

You've got to be an A1 driver to take on those narrow winding cliff road while looking up into those fantastic mountain views at almost the same time. Too bad the dolomites were covered with thick clouds when we had the chance to watch them. Anyways this clip is the best (again) i had run thru my phone today. Kudos sir. Thanks for posting!
