Nice touch with adding air traffic control! Very cool. I love Alaska Airlines. I've taken countless flights with them and they have never gone wrong. Sometimes the pilots address all of the passengers on the public address system, face to face, thanking everyone for their business and welcoming them aboard. Nice personal approach.

As a Seattle area resident I mostly fly Alaska for anyplace I have traveled for over 40 years. In recent years, I have experienced poor service by the gate agents, but not the flight attendants, mostly at SEA. Literally two gate agents argued with each other, one who was trying to allow me to bring my small lunch sized bag of medical supplies and the other who was literally screaming at me that it had to be checked. It was so bizarre. I ended up having to check my carry on so I could ensure nothing happened to my medical supplies. But out of SEA, they are probably the best. Alaska employs many of my friends, so I like to support them.

I was treated very badly by several Alaska Airlines baggage drop-off employees in Tampa, FL. They completely ignored me while I waited with my tagged luggage. I was on the verge of tears. Very unpleasant and unprofessional employees. The mean and hateful people in Florida is one of the reasons I moved away from Florida so it was not totally unexpected. But it reflects very badly upon Alaska Airlines as a whole. Otherwise I have never had any issues.

We lost $8000 in nonrefundable connecting airfare by this PHONY outfit. Why is it so damned hard to pick a gate and stay? Otherwise STOP PRINTING FALSE GATE INFO ON YOUR TICKETS and overbooking. We travel a lot, burned through several passports and Alaska is the only airline that has made us miss connecting flights repeatedly without any compensation for their f#$& ups. Either late arrival, overbooking or their gifted inability to print a gate on a ticket and have it actually correspond.
Just cancelled my alaska air miles card after all these years. Bottom of the barrel airline that should be transporting livestock instead of human beings.

I do miss Virgin America though. I really enjoyed the way they setup their cabins as well as their in-flight entertainment and electronic menu system. I was kind of hoping when Alaska acquired Vergin America's planes that they would go to those types of amenities throughout their fleet.

I was going to book First Class trip from PDX to LIH on Alaska, but after seeing this video (much appreciated for posting it), I'll go with another airline. First Class ticket is almost 3X the cost of coach on Alaska and I'm not seeing 3X the value.

Facepalm. I have gone with Alaska Airlines many times (Also Virgin America before the merger). I also went with United First class, Delta, and American. I can say most American airlines first class were subpar to many economy flights I been on with international airlines. Alaska, on the other hand, was excellent. And really, lounge access is a nice perk.

    • @josiaevans
      @josiaevans 3 года назад

back when this plane was Virgin America, that front seat was way cheaper than traditional first class on other airlines. A regular fight on Virgin was about $25 more than other us domestics, but the majority of the travel experience was a $250 better travel experience. On Virgin America, they only had 8 seats up front like that but upgrades could often be had for as little as $70 to $150 depending on the flight- that was the way to do it.
And yes, it's more like a modern premium Business seat than a traditional first class suite nowadays, but keep in mind, this product was launched in late 2006 as part of an airline built specifically around premium economy instead of the traditional first class, Business and cattle class model

I was a rabid Virgin America fan before the merger, and I was not happy with the buyout and plans to re-brand... at first. Now I fly Alaska almost exclusively as a 75k and I can tell you the new cabins are actually fantastic; they maintain the mood lighting, the seats are just as comfortable, and they added a 3rd row of First Class making upgrades much more common on the Airbus flights. Find a reason to get on a re-branded Airbus (or find an A321 which had the original VX rebrand interior which is essentially what Alaska used) and take another trip. Longer haul flights are great with some of the best domestic catering in the US.

I want to come back, but I had one flight after the name change in 2019 and it wasn't bad, but it didn't compare to the Virgin America experience. It felt dead. It was like going back to the scene of the party after all your friends had already left. The magic was gone.
Only thing that has been as good so far was my two trips on Virgin Atlantic - of course 😁
Otherwise, I'm all about the Delta A220 now. Good airline, excellent plane, consistently good service.

also, at 4:16 to 4:30 it seems like nobody was actually "on duty" to greet the passengers as they step onboard.
The only flight attendant looked like she was all by herself up there and too busy "working" to focus on the boarding experience.
Including our videographer, she let AT LEAST 4 passengers go by her without making them feel truly acknowledged.
If that was a Virgin America flight, you can guarantee there would have been a friendly human being there SPECIFICALLY ready to welcome you on-board. But hey, Alaska is a different company, so... different priorities

    LUGGAGE TIPS 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
Tie three or four colored ribbons around the handle to your luggage to warn others that this is not their luggage. People grab luggage at the turnstile and take it home before you ever see it.
Anywhere you put your bag, it could be grabbed in error. Example: overhead compartment, unloaded from the bus, at the hotel lobby, at the airport turnstile...
These ribbons make your luggage different and EASY TO SPOT when the piece is surrounded by 35 other cases unloaded from the bus. Using 4 ribbons make it immediately different than other cases with 1 ribbon.
Use 1” wide ribbons 14” long and not longer. Cut the ends at 45 degrees.
Tie the ribbons as a sandwich, as if they were one ribbon. Use a man’s tie, a half Windsor knot for the best look. After it is tied on, the total length of the ribbons will be about 5 inches from the handle. This is too short to catch on anything such as rollers.
Scissor cut trim the ribbons to cascading different lengths after they are tied. Put a drop of Super Glue at the end.
If each ribbon is slightly a different length by 1/4” the color layers will all show up no matter how they drape.
You can see these ribbons from 40 feet away.
Perhaps tie TWO handles or RINGS top and side of the case.
Tie using a HALF WINDSOR KNOT to the metal buckle ring of the handle.
    Learn Half Windsor knot tying:
It is the 2nd example in this video
    ruclips.net/video/X0yh5rKB9lE/видео.html
    This knot does not loosen.
Put your phone number on one ribbon using a fine point permanent Sharpie.
    Example: “Owner 454-333-7878”
    No personal name necessary.
No address necessary on the ribbon.
Choose one ribbon with an unusual pattern or fabric to really make it unique. The 4th ribbon could be black color.
Stand by the output port of the turnstile to reduce the chance of someone else grabbing your piece.
Tie your skiies, duffel bag, backpack and what ever else with matching ribbons-even your computer case.
If you are a Travel Agent, you could hot gold stamp one ribbon with your name and phone number. Send them a set of ribbons, red and blue and BLACK to your customer as a gift. Record this gift in your database so you don’t duplicate yourself.
Buy a gold hot embossing machine. Gold emboss your business name on the BLACK ribbon. Put the customer’s name on it if possible.
    Pleasant color combinations:
    Red, white and blue
    Chartreuse and purple and orange
    Orange and light blue
    Orange and yellow
    Gray and pink
    Green and yellow
    Red and Green
    Red and Gold
Light blue and light green and white
The 4th ribbon could be white, gray, black, tan
Tip #2 Take a cell phone picture of the ribbon tied on. Then another picture of the full luggage piece. You now have a way to communicate “what it looks like” if someone is tasked with searching for it. Take this picture outside in direct sun not under neon lights.
Tip #3 Place a strip of colored duct tape on the inside lining to your case. Put TWO pieces in DIFFERENT places such as INSIDE a pocket to the case. If you dare, put your phone number DIRECTLY ON THE FABRIC WITHOUT USING TAPE. Or, put your name and phone number on this tape. If all identity is stripped from your case, you have this to show. If someone steals it and rips off identity tags, you can show the police officer the inside tape...
To be sneaky about the tape, put your phone number on the STICKY side of the tape. Nothing is on the surface side of this tape.
    Tip #4
Put your phone number on a 2” x 1/2” piece of fabric or plastic sheet. Use colored Duct tape, such as black or red or neon, to tape this message to the top side of the handle. This message is under the tape hidden from view. The lettering does not touch the sticky part. Wrap it 2-3 times. Also include Tips 1,2,3 above. If you need to prove identity of the case, just unwrap it and show.
    Tip #5 ADDING UNIQUENESS
    4 ribbons
    1 designer ribbon
    colored taped handle
stencil spray paint a stencil letter or number or word to the suit case surface in addition to using all the ideas here.
Stencil spray paint a letter to the top ribbon.
Use ribbons that are wider or more narrow than 1”.
Put a travel sticker on the case.

I will pay more to fly Alaska over other airlines because of the spectacular service I get from them. I have had some bad experiences with Alaska, but every single time the Alaska employees work to make it right. They know how to treat you!
Years ago I had a bad experience on a Delta codeshare flight, causing me to miss my Alaska connection in Seattle. The Alaska staff apologized for the experience on their codeshare, rebooked me, gave me some bonus miles, and gave me a coupon for food in the airport. The problem was with Delta but Alaska still took ownership and made it right!
