  • A follow up on my Ardurover build. After the rover platform is done ,I added pixhawk to be able to run it in semi-autonomous function down the road.

    Lyndon, your approach to videos/teaching is excellent. You have a very humble and jovial approach and the pacing / details are perfect.
    I'm also in Florida and building a larger version of a tracked-Ardurover with RTK GNSS for centimeter accuracy. If you'd like, I'll drive it up to you and you can do a video on it :)
    One other video suggestion: your 3D printer looks interesting. Perhaps a video on your build would interest some of your viewers?

    How accurate is this gps setup for a lawn mower build? Is it able to follow a path reliably ? Would you need to buy the Pixhawk Orange Cube plus for the best result ?

    • @LyndonsWorkshop
      @LyndonsWorkshop  Месяц назад +1

      Hi. I never owned an orange cube but based on my understanding and experience of gps guided drones, their accuracy is about of a few feet, depending on the number of satellites received. You can observe it during rtl. It never goes back on the exact spot. You need to at least supplement it with a vision system to guide your vehicle to exact path.

    Thank you very much for the video!
    I am facing one problem when using this. When I center the throttle like in 7:07 , the backward doesn't work well. when I try to go back sometimes it go back and most of the time it doesn't. Also when it does go backward, I have to first center the stick then very slowly go back (Does not work if I move the stick from forward to backward in one swing).
    Can you tell me what's happening and how to solve this issue?

    • @LyndonsWorkshop
      @LyndonsWorkshop  6 месяцев назад

      @@surflaweb Hi. I’m using a SyRen motor controller. Choose an amperage higher than your motor current draw. As for the esc, I don’t think you can use an esc (the ones used on quadcopters) as it is for 3 phased winding inside the brushless motor. While brushed dc motors only have 2 wires.

      @@LyndonsWorkshop ok I see that this is currently discontinued, for small dc motors can I use a l298n driver?

    • @LyndonsWorkshop
      @LyndonsWorkshop  6 месяцев назад

      @@surflaweb Hi. I did a quick look on l298n motor controller. It seems to need a pwm to control the speed and separate signal to control the direction. I don’t think its compatible with pixhawk. As pixhawk only sends pwm to control both speed and direction.

      Hi Hariharan. I lived here in the US. I bought these parts either in amazon or the local hardware store. For Autonomous Lawn mower. I don't advise you use the tracked rover as they work on skid steering. That means they need to skid just to turn. This is difficult on grassy surface and you need to have very powerful motors and mechanical parts to do this. You will be better off using the separate thrust and steering method like the ones they use on electric wheelchair. If you could afford to purchase those used ones the better.

    Hello Lyndon's Workshop !.
    Can my robot be made autonomous only with the RTK GPS with Pixhawk without Arduino?
    My robot uses the MDDS30A FlySky FS iA6X transmitter with FS iA10B receiver connected to the Cytron controller and I would like to make it autonomous like your robot
    Is it also necessary to buy the Arduino? Please help me with my project, advise me, I am very new to this, watch my 2 videos, my robot and see what you think!

      Hi, you don’t need an arduino to perform autonomous missions. Pixhawk is capable of saving and running missions on its own. Watched your video and saw your build. Pretty cool. I may use cytron controller also in the future. Thank you for sharing.

      Thank you for helping me with my doubts, I built it to help my father in the field since I broke my back, I am a professional driver and due to my injury they cannot operate on me and it is over for my international truck trailer trip
      I hope when you make more things I can see them and if you see I can improve mine even more I will be happy I wanted to make it prettier but I don't solder and the drawing on paper to do it physically changes everything a lot I wanted to make a body that stands up like a hood so it looks like a truck With the Tesla one I wanted to do something like that but I don't understand nor do I have any practice with fiber or polyester resin. For me this is now economically impossible for me but hey at least I don't lose the hope of doing good things to entertain myself while!@@LyndonsWorkshop

    how much load do you think these motors and the electonic parts afford? except from the structure that is from wood and plastic.

    • @LyndonsWorkshop
      @LyndonsWorkshop  8 месяцев назад +1

      Hi user-fv9hc6py2o. I didn't test how much load it can accommodate. Depending on your application, you can replace it with more powerful drill motors. I am only using 12v drill motors with 10A motor drivers. This build was just a proof of concept and meant for demo in a science project setting. Do you have a particular load in mind?

    • @user-fv9hc6py2o
      @user-fv9hc6py2o 8 месяцев назад

      Maximum load 500-600 kg. 100-150 kg the frame and the main construction and other will be an external load. Is this pixhawk board capable of working bigger loads if we increase the power of the electric motors in watt?

    • @LyndonsWorkshop
      @LyndonsWorkshop  8 месяцев назад +1

      @@user-fv9hc6py2o this setup definitely cannot accommodate that amount of load. I was initially thinking of recommending you the electric wheelchair setup as the mechanical design and motors already designed for heavy load but that one also is not enough for your requirement. The pixhawk microcontroller will output pwm signal to control the motors. It is the motor drivers and the motors you should change to accommodate your load.
