Toro Lawnmower Basic Maintenance : Kohler 6.75HP engine

Step by step tutorial on how I maintain my 22" Toro 'Recycler' self-propelled lawnmower with the Kohler 6.75HP engine. This includes cleaning the carburetor, changing the oil, sharpening the blade, replacing the drive belt, flushing the gas tank, replacing the fuel filter and replacing the pull cord. These are well made, high quality machines. With a bit of basic care and maintenance I'm sure it will last forever. There's a few things in particular that you really need to know to keep it cutting. This video also shows you the modifications I made to replace the auto choke with a manual system.

Those kohler engines are awful. The auto choke is terrible. You should do a video on how to replace it with cable and lever. I've got oil getting into the air filter, any ideas?

I agree the choke is a real issue on these engines. I believe there is a hose running from the crankcase allowing it to vent into the air breather. Perhaps you have the oil over filled or maybe getting blow-by through the piston rings?
