  • For more like this AND the gorgeous tinyStudio Creative Life magazine, subscribe at www.fiberygoodness.com/tinystudio. This is a tutorial on how to 'tail spin' long locks in two different ways. It is an excerpt from the full video I created for one of the fortnightly 'tinyStudio TV' episodes that go out to tinyStudio Magazine subscribers! It is over 20 minutes of tutorial and demonstration! You will need a few handfuls of washed and separated long locks such as Teeswater , Leicester, or Wensleydale. You will also need a core thread as shown in the video!

    I really liked the way you showed people how to spin locks so beautifully. Thank you for sharing this with us all. Now I feel a little more confident in giving this a try.

    Beautiful locks! Are those teeswater? Thanks for the helpful videos :) I must get a bigger flyer for my Ashford traditional to spin thicker art yarns soon!

      @@tinyStudioMagazine I adore teeswater 😍 Wensleydale and Masham are a close second too! I'm looking forward to spinning tailspun & lockspun some of my kg of Masham that's almost finished scouring :)

      Yes yummy Teeswater! This would be very hard to spin on a Tradie with cuphooks on the flyer, but if you swapped those out for L shaped hooks it will be easier

      @@tinyStudioMagazine The Masham fleece I got I've finally washed it all, it's very similar to Teeswater, as Masham is Teeswater crossed with (usually) Dalesbred. I didn't know that! I've spun short Wensleydale lockspun and Whitefaced Dartmoor on my traditional it wasn't easy! Thanks I'll have to get some L shaped hooks. I'm hoping my antique wheel with a jumbo flyer is restored soon, that will be easier wont it?

    who hug, love it the result. Did you wash the locks first and then spun?

    • @tinyStudioMagazine
      @tinyStudioMagazine  4 года назад +1

      Yes I always prefer spinning with washed fiber, you could do this with unwashed locks if you wanted to though
