What challenges would you like us to do next? 👀
Hello GTN is it okay if your heart rate reaches 200+ during race on a standart or sprint distance?
How about a tyre pull run? I started doing this to strengthen my legs up for a small guy (57 y/o, 61kg, 176cm) and it is really helping my 40k+ running. I reckon it's twice as tough as a normal mid-pace run, but well worth it. Started with 500m, then 1-2k, then 6k, 10k, and completed a 31.5km solo tyre pull two days ago (with a couple of hills in there for good measure) in 04:11 and certainly feels like I've ran a marathon (our Turkish summer heat all adds to the fun too). Up for it?
Ironman 70.3 Durban
Looks like you guys had a great time 😁 James just casually interviewing everyone he meets was amazing 😂
He can't help himself! He just LOVES triathlon 💕
You guys are definitely doing it better every time! This is the way to document participating in a challenge just for fun, with James' pit stop for... history!
Fun first! Great to hear you enjoyed this video, where should we race next? 👀
@@gtn What about a sprint triathlon, but this time to compare your numbers with your best ones time ago? I have always been interested in how our number change with age, including health indicator like heart rate, VO2Max, or even FTP...
Getting handed your medal by Chrissy and Jan would make any race 1000 times more special. That is awesome.
I’m thinking that Roth is now the top annual Triathlon in the world
I think it always has been....people just know it now.
Interesting! Why do you think it's become such a big race? 👀
@@gtn Kona was the top race but splitting the field and local resistance to expansion have made it less attractive.
Roth is one of the oldest races I seem to recall it was called Ironman Europe
@@gtn Because the race continues to be about the people and not about $ or venue location. Take care of the people and the rest comes with time. Kona is a house built on sand....Roth is built on a foundation of bedrock.
I was a little teary when you all finished. It’s just seeing all that dedication paying off from all taking part & involved and you lot shining the light on normal amateur triathletes just slaying it.
Truly awesome video.
We're really glad you liked the video! 🙌 What would you like to see us do next? 👀
James’ enthusiasm and interaction with the volunteers and participants was awesome
In Challenge Roth's triathlon relay,
Mark, James, and Heather found their way,
With strength and courage, they took their stance,
Ready to conquer this sporting dance.
With each leg conquered, they pushed through,
Swimming, biking, and running too,
Their spirits soared, their hearts in sync,
A bond formed stronger than you could think.
And in this journey, Mark met Welsh Lee,
A force of nature, wild and free,
His presence inspiring, his smile bright,
Suffering through the day - and night?
Together they faced every mile,
Overcoming obstacles with every trial,
Their determination will never cease,
As they strive for victory, finding inner peace.
In Challenge Roth, they found their bliss,
A testament to their strength and grit,
And as they crossed that finish line,
They knew they were champions, their victory divine.
So let us celebrate this tale of glory,
Of friendship, courage, and a remarkable story,
In Challenge Roth, they conquered it all,
A testament to their spirit standing tall
Wow wow wow! We love these poems! 🙌 Might need a poem section on the show!
It's great to see you all racing together! 🤗🤩
Totally awesome why can't we have an event like this in England love releys
Ironman Tenby in Wales comes pretty close for UK. Not as big as Roth but they have the crowd parting on the hill same style, and the support is incredible all through to the last finisher.
OK Heathers challenge is do full next year and James is ..... TO DO SOME TRAINING! 😂 Any training swimming, running ... SOMETHING!😁
The crazy thing is he still ran a sub 3hr30 marathon!
Really loved this vid! The more casual, spontaneous nature of it really let your guys personality come through, and the footage was great! More of this!
Thanks Sean! Where should we head to next? We would love to head to more races 🏁
We were there with the family I was there for the full distance and my kids did the Challenge for all which I highly recommend as well. It's been a week and I'm still buzzing. Roth is trully amazing and so wel organized. We had a blast.
We were at the kids races too. And I did the sprint distance on Friday.
I was racing as an individual and I saw James at the marathon at km 20 (for him)! It was really nice sharing that moment with you! I´ve screamed "GGGGTTTTNNNN" and he answered!! 🤣🤣 I hope see you three next year again. Last year I saw Mark at the backstage of the finish line!
Thanks for shouting! We loved racing with the community! Super cool to see so much love for GTN 🙌 How did your race go?
@@gtn It was amazing just like yours! See you there in 2024 again!
That was so much fun. All emotions flood through and bring back the memories of my Triathlon I just did. The fans, volunteers and athletes. A party after all the years training. Gets me excited to do my next one in 3 weeks. Jame's potty stop was prime. Yes sometimes $h!^ happens. Cheers.
Congrats guys. It’s great to get others to see what we see during a race.
That looks so fun! Glad y’all let us experience it with you.
What a great report of a fantastic event. Well done, you rock!
This was so amazing!! And the finish was very emotional. Great job, Heather, Mark and James!
Another great video, fantastic inside to the race also looks like you had loads of fun
Love the gtn team. Just thinking about how comfortable and awesome james has become on camera!
I thought 21:42 was the best part of the video. The faces of admiration were nothing but genuine.
Chrissie Wellington congratulating you all on the finishing line... priceless!
Love this video!! Just need two mates to do the relay haha!! Steve, fancy it next year??
I’d be keen 👀 😁
That was fantastic! Thank you for covering it from inside the race like that.
Absolutely LOVED living vicariously through the GTN presenters! 👏👏👏👏 oh & LOVED Mark’s slow-mo run to James 🤣 looks like everyone was having a good time
The interview at 8:00 was the best part! 😂
Top Two race of my life, Kona will forever be my Greatest…. So much fun and the friends made there are still going strong. 🏆🙏👍💪😊
The community around races is amazing! Super cool to hear that you are still connected to your racing buddies! 🙌
Great video guys. Having got an entry for Roth 2024 this has me super motivated. The image of James on the Portaloo will stay with me forever!
Thanks @gtn Got the boost from watching this to try and get a spot for next year. And I did! Challenge Roth 2024 here I come.
You guys are amazing!!!
Nothing better than cheering of spectators, always gives me chills and extra power at the finish :)
Excellent Excellent video of Roth. Well done team GTN ! 👏. Who will ever forget their own solar hill experience WOW! but its the thousands? Of volunteers who make Roth what it is. 👏
made me smile and can't wait to race again. Thanks for all the lovely content.
guys you are super crazy and positive ppl ! great to watching you , super video ! see you on the track
Wow! You guys are brilliant🤗
GREAT insight guys because I’m doing the half Ironman 🇮🇪 relay in August…… can’t bloody wait…… this has just raised my excitement and knowledge 👌🏻😍😍😍 AND totally sweet for ye at the end 🥲
Great shot of the back of my Thames Turbo shirt on Solar @ 9:38. If you ever fancy joining us for a session in SW London you’re more than welcome.
Ah congrats guys I really enjoyed the video u captured how amazing it must be beautifully thanku for sharing ur day with us 🫶
Well done, you really captured the atmosphere very well. I felt exactly the same way, this year was my first year, in Roth, too. Loved it.
Awesome! How did you find it? 🤔
Finally got my slot in Roth 2024!!! Thanks @gtn for giving me the insight of the very famous race. A bucket list indeed!! Now i cant wait to do experience it myself!! need to practice Potty drills like james?? 😁😁
You guys are awesome!
Mark bloody loves getting on the beers at races - animal :-) Looks like an amazing event. Gotta go on my list! Great video guys, and well done to all 3 of you, insanely good.
Hahahah we can't stop him, race hard play hard... or something like that 👀
Brilliant video guys, absolutely well done 👏👏
Thank you! 👍
Brilliant video. This is why I come to GTN. Wasn't that long ago that James actually won. 7:59. Nicht schlecht junge.
Wow! What a great video!! Just putting it all out there!
Glad you enjoyed it! We certainly had a lot of fun doing it! Would you like to see more content like this in the future? 👀
Great when y’all do races!!!
An incredible race, I totally loved it last year, my best triathlon experience (Although IM Utah was huge for different reasons).
Also met GTN Mark at the finish.
Wow, that was amazing. Now I want to do Roth!!
Makes me want to do this race someday ;) Loved this way to cover the race since you get to see what its like during the race and see some of the folks pushing out and conquering their own challenges out there!
Do it! Do it! Do it! Racing is super fun, it's not all about the result. The community is alway a huge pull🙌
Hahaha the slow mo of the ladies supporting France watching that guy run by 😜😉 a budding romance?!
Really enjoyed the coverage of this! Especially since this is an event I’ll never get to do, haha. You all did great!
How come you'll never do it? We're sure you would love it 💕
@@gtn age 37, overweight (I’ve lost 70 pounds but I have about 40 more to go), wife, kids, job. Haha. Those are all excuses but I should never say never. It looks like an amazing event. If I ever get to a full distance that would be the race I would want to do.
followed you training for your first 5km run program and tomorrow will do the final 5km excited! 8)
my stamina and strength improved a lot through these 7 weeks thank you for making these videos!
Congratulations 🎉
Dream Team 🤩🤩🤩
You guys are the best
On my bucket list now 👍
What happened to our nice chat at k39 James? Norway hypetrain disfunction :-). Great show and some experience doing Roth again.
08:04 omg that is such a cute rainbow suit!
Love love love this! Thought I couldn't want to this race anymore than I already did 😅 any tips for how to get an entry??
Amazing video Guys. Well done to all. Wohoo
Glad you enjoyed it! 🙌 Would you like to see more video like this in the future? 👀
@@gtn of course we do. Maybe do a race in a country with a different a culture. Like Japan or something and see the tri tech stuff from that part of the world.
you are great guys
I was lucky enough to do this in 2018. If you only do one iron distance race, try to do this one. I was smiling the entire video, remembering the places. Solar Hill was great, but the hairpin turns going down after the climb up Grending was a highlight. I had to slow down second loop as someone in front of me wasn't as willing as I was to go headfirst into the hay bails on the corners.😁😁 Amazing
I'm saving up... In a few years I'd like to make it there for my one (and only) full distance. The dream.
Damn you, GTN. You've just added to my bucket list. ❤
Do you think you'll apply for the next one? 👀
@gtn 2025. 2024's bucket list already has the Flanders and Roubaix sportives on it.
Hahahaa the pit stop!!
The closest I have come to doing a triathlon was years ago when I did the cycling in a short distance relay event (and we even came in second as our runner was crazy fast) but seeing the atmosphere in Roth and the fun that everyone seems to be having is tempting. A very entertaining video!
We hope it brung all those memories back for you! 🙌 Would you ever do another triathlon?
@@gtn I will definitely continue to enjoy the GTN videos but after seeing how much triathlon entries cost I may just stick to my unofficial version with swimming, cycling and running around the neighbourhood. I may even take a crack at a 70.3 distance, with reduced swimming as the pool times are only for an hour and I don't swim as fast as Heather!
Amazing and great socks James
Mark pronounced it right! In German the „h“ in „th“ is silent. That’s why us Germans are having a hard time with the pronunciation of „th“ in English 😅
Sometimes “th” is silent in English but depends on the word
Legends! Nice socks James 😊
Really enjoyed seeing Heather’s “game face”
The energy from Cornelia was amazing, and beautiful ❤❤
Mark always looks elegant and in control on bike
"Yeah Mark, from GTN" 😂😂
16:58 she is supporting my country
I started going to summer swimming camp and i just recently watched your breath stroke video and it was very helpful as our instructor was teaching us wrong and the other one pointed it out today so it helped a lot. Basically my question was on freestyle that i cant take my head out when leaning onto the left hand side plus i start to sink and stop kicking any tips for that it will help a lot
Everyone needs a Cornelia in their life on race day 🤣
Hi - Amazing video! Felt special to be out on the course with the GTN team. I was the very last finisher at Challenge Roth (post light show). I was the one with the Roth championship wrestling belt, Bib 259. I'm trying to find footage of my finish. Could you please help?
The sections should be called Heather's run, Mark's bike, James's interviews... lol
My absolute dream event. One day.
Fingers crossed for you!
I'm in the video at 9m49 🎉🎉🎉😂
10:55 with this helmet on, this is clearly the Lord Vader look he's going for 😀😃😄. When he has that helmet on you can only refer to him as the Dark Lord of Roth 😀.
🥰
i think 11:58 has to be the best part of the video
Y’all are dirty for making Heather do the hardest part lol
Is this not an IM branded event? Would love to see more of these
Does aero calf sleeve gave you more gain over shaved legs? Or you wear it instead of shaving legs?
Curious to know the times!
Silly question but are the drafting rules suspended for the uphill section???
For Solarer Berg, kind of. Due to the crowds funnelling the athletes, you end up stuck behind slower athletes. Therefore everyone ends up bunched. There is very little benefit anyway, especially as many are being slowed down anyway
So what are the socks mark has on? Are those compression socks???
21 August 2023
I didn't see any toilet paper in that porta-potty.....
In German there is no "th" sound that's why we cannot pronounce it ;-) "th" in Roth is just pronounced like a nomal "t".
Is Heather more quiet recently? Chemistry in the team seems off?
Yellow card, blocking, at 10:07...
