That's a great way to solve this necessity. Only I would have made it to slide out the front instead of tipping it. Also would cat liter work instead of saw dust? Just wondering.

It's a great idea, but if you have to tip the bin to get it in, wont you need to tip it back out? If the door was on the front you could pull it out.

You have electricity for the house, so I'm wondering if you couldn't have an incineration toilet in the house?

Yes, not understanding how it’s going to “compost”, it’s just human waste in a bucket. A composting toilet would drain the liquids and compost the solids.

That is going to smell so bad. And be a sloppy sewage mess of a bin. Especially ,if u dont have a vent outside. I currently use a DIY off grid dry toilet system. Word of advice, get a separate pee bucket. Mixing 1&2 is stinky. Guys can pee outside. We have a number 2 bucket in the shed and it stinks slightly. We also cover with newspapers in addition to pine shavings. Good Luck.

"My husband and I..." By the way, what are you doing with the human feces you literally dump in the bucket?

My question as well. A bin of sewage is hard to get rid of. And carry down those icy stairs! True composting toilets separate and dry the number 2 out so you can put it in the compost bin.
