There was a discussion I was in at a recent toy show on how toy companies outside of Japan and China, don't push a lot of the package design, toy design, and overall presentation quite as much as they could. Your review showed how the presentation, opening, and interaction/appreciation during the assembly, really showcases how premium of a product this is. I remember seeing this figure for $130 or so on BBTS, and at an anime show for just around $300, but I completely understand that price point, it's a really great figure overall.
Thank you! Unfortunately Super7 does an incredible job with packaging but drop the ball on the figures. NECA does a great job on the figures and pretty basic packaging.
oh yea these are awesome I love the bring arts line those are 1/12 scale and fit in with more of what I collect.
Yeah! That classic style looks so good, too!
I got that figure. Looks much better than her older ones. But i still prefer the lightning returns version
Major improvement
Wow! Great review! I need this soooo bad!
Thank you so much! I really appreciate that!
Man I would love to collect these but they are just insanely expensive. I have to choose between hobbies thanks to our wonderful economy. $1400 for a studio apartment... I may just live in a box 😂
I understand! haha
I’m a huge FF7 fan so now I’m currently collecting the FF7Remake figures. Just finished of the party members except Yuffie (waiting for a version without the Moogle hoodie) and Sephiroth so now it’s waiting for the Rebirth line and continue with Vincent, Cid and so on. I like the figures, but I don’t know if I feel they’re worth the price. The accessory count for most pf them is fairly limited and the engineering in the joints could definitely be better aesthetically, particularly for the size. That being said, they are great representations of their in-game counterparts. I especially like Red XIII, Barret and Sephiroth. I’m also very interested in the Bring Arts FF7 figures based on the original character designs but they’re half the size while being almost just as pricey.… kinda hard to justify. I might just get Aerith who’s my favourite character. Anyway, nice unexpected review. What Final Fantasy is your favourite by the way?
Thank you!! FF8 was my favorite along with 7. Something about that gun sword in 8 that I love.
Buying more than just a couple figures from this line would be tough because of that price, but compared to what I have bought of other brands I’m highly impressed with this. Do you also have the motorcycle?? That thing looks so good, but $400 for the three pack 😬
@@NostalgiaUnboxed I don’t have the Hardy Daytona that Cloud rides when they’re escaping Shinra, but that three-pack with Cloud, Jessie and the bike are in fact the last item I got, last month. Normally, I just wanted Cloud but couldn’t find him anywhere, him being out of stock. However, on Toys Wonderland, that set was like 95 $ (yes, you’re reading that correctly, 95 bucks for Cloud, Jessie and the bike! Even the figures by themselves cost more! Don’t know why it is so cheap, it’s an official set, and all the other bike sets are around 350-400 bucks like you’d expect. It wasn’t a holiday discount either as that was the -rice for months before I ordered it). but I jumped on it and even with the cheapest delivery option it still reached me in about two weeks from Hong Kong to Belgium. So in total I still paid less for that set than I would’ve anywhere else, without shipping. Seriously, Toys Wonderland, you should check it out. I think that same three-pack is also discounted on AmiAmi, a bit more expensive than on TW, but not by much, les than a 150 bucks I think. So if you want that three-pack for a good price, I’d check those sites.
@@jarosbodytko6462 wow! That’s absolutely insane! Not knockoff or anything at that price is a crazy good deal
This figure is my holy grail. I can never find one that won't cost an arm and a leg.
It’s crazy!
know a personal friend from Japan, sold me with $40, now it's worth over $200 I believe?
Wow!
I just got Aranea Highwind and she’s really well done
Awesome!
Play Arts for figures and Good Smile for statues. absolutely top tier
Excellent stuff for sure
play arts kai suck tho
Unbelievable posing!!! WOW!!! Thanks for showing your talent! Well done indeed!
Thank you!
looks great I just wish it wasn't so costly by scalpers
I think she is too old to be labeled under scalpers. Now she’s just market value, which is…a lot lol
I collect Hot Toys and 1/6 in general, so I don't know why you got recommended, but I must say I like your style! Tired of Justin's Collection mono tone voice. Would like your take on some Hot Toys review.
That’s very kind of you, thank you! I need to get my hands on some Hot Toys! The scale has just been a bit much for me personally, but this figure has shown the difference of what you get with bigger. Haha. I have a friend that sends me Super7… need to find that Hot Toys collector now 😂
@Nostalgia Unboxed Yes sir! I will subscribe to you in the hopes you do 1/6 lol. It's an expensive hobby but I love Hot Toys. And InArt ( AKA Queen Studios ) coming into the game It's getting spicy on the 1/6 side.
@@SuperFalsehope hahaha. Well, I may also need a different setup with my desk to fit that stuff. But thanks for sticking around!
Just wait till you discover Hot Toys/Sideshow Collectibles in terms of detail 😅
Haha! I know. I have been avoiding 1/6 scale but I certainly need to at least…. try one, right? 😅
@@NostalgiaUnboxed - It is a slippery soap bub, planned to pick up a couple, 20 figures later with more on the way 🤣
@@dobbear haha! That’s intense!
I am not a fan of Play Arts Kai. They're very inconsistent despite vast improvements over the years. I like their Bring Arts line more, but I'm sure it has the same issues that will prevents me from buying either lines. I am however buying those retro Final Fantasy 7 Bring Arts as well as the Tactics characters and Legend of Mana characters.
Those are some great options! I would like to see what their products are like now considering this one is such an older item. They made major improvements over a short period. What the latest item you have and what issues do you see?
@@NostalgiaUnboxed The Play Arts aren't 1/12 and more or less are like the weird scale McFarlanes are at.
I have the old Lightning, Laura Croft from the reboot Tomb Raider when it came out on 360/PS3.
But I've seen more Play Arts in person, in reviews, etc and for some reason they never appealed to me. I think the only reason I "like" their Bring Arts is because of the smaller size.
@@SuperTiso I can understand the size concern. Having them this large certainly causes an issue around space real quick. There are some amazing third party options around Final Fantasy that others have commented about, but they are 1/6 scale which is a big “no go” for me. Just don’t know where else to look for some of the brands they have made. Wish they would make some new Mass Effect options
@@NostalgiaUnboxed WOW I totally forgot they did Mass Effect Play Arts. I feel like I must've owned a Shepard in the past because I was really big into that series when ME2 came out.
@@SuperTiso that trilogy was my favorite for a really long time and I would have had my mind blown if I was collecting back then. Some of those figures are absolutely insane now with pricing. Look up the Tali'Zorah if you haven’t yet. Yikes!
Be very careful when looking to eBay for play arts, I've heard there's tons of knockoffs for this brand.
I only recently saw that could be the case haha. This came from Japan and was legit thankfully.
Boy are you in for a disappointment, play arts Kai has gone completely down the pan the newer figures are riddled with QC , extremely overpriced for the quality of the product, do not recommend
Well, that doesn’t sound good!
Sigh, these figures would be so much better if they didn't have visable movable joints. It just looks weird. Really takes away from the overall quality imo. That sucks, because this one looks beautiful.
It’s 2018, so I’m giving it a bit more credit. Love to see what the new stuff is like in person but seems better
When this 2018 figure looked a lot better than the misaligned eyes of the FF7R Tifa play arts kai 🤣
Play arts kai almost always looks awful for the price anyway. They always sacrifice articulation for the aesthetics. (and my god the ball joints are ugly)
@@leonthesleepy Yeah it will just never look as nice as their promo photos, I hope the unnofficial line called GameToys produces more, there iterations of Cloud, Zack, Sephiroth, looked amazing and it could have been Play arts kai... I hear they are making one for Noctis and Yuna so I am hoping they make more of the others.
@@arvinjay336 if u dont care abt the articulation, u can always try the static figures. sadly Square doesn't give the license to othe manufacturers. their own line up is overpriced and just ok quality. Their static arts is def nicer tho
@@leonthesleepy I actually care about articulation but I also care about how the faces of their figures look lol and I am still waiting for Square to license scale figs of the FF line kind of like how Nier Automata got their own scales.
@@arvinjay336 lets hope they do license it out someday!
is this the same dude that be putting rdc's kids through college every stream?
No idea what that means
How crazy I just scored my first final fantasy figure from final fantasy 11 it’s the chocobo and rider. It’s so damn amazing I have my figuarts Gogeta riding him.
Oh man that sounds awesome! Haha. Glad it is amazing!
Man, FF figures have come a long way. I had a FF7 Vincent that had 3 points of articulation. This one is just really nice!
Haha. Yeah, she’s got a couple more now 😂
I've been collecting the TMNT movie figures and watching your reviews, and just started venturing into the FFVIII Remake Play Arts Kai line. The detail in the Necas is amazing, but I was absolutely blown away by my first Play Arts figure by comparison. They are perfect representations and because of the size, have HUGE presence on a shelf. The versatility of the posing is so good as well--you can do anything you think of. My latest one was Sephiroth and I can say that photos don't compare to seeing this in person.
Great channel, and hope to see more FF content!
We are following the same path it seems! Haha
I would like to get more for sure. Would love that 3 pack of Cloud, Jessie, and the bike but it’s so expensive!
@@NostalgiaUnboxed I bought the Jessie bike set (no Cloud) and it is worth every penny! Solaris Japan has these at a good price currently.
@@Kammie69 a trustworthy site? A couple folks mentioned others that had great prices but way too many online complaints
@@NostalgiaUnboxed Yep! You can order with peace of mind. That's where I've been getting mine from.
@@Kammie69 thank you!
Let’s goooooooo ride the lightning!!!!!!
😏😅
I have a Joker made by Playarts and it is absolutely amazing!!
Nice!! Going back and looking at some older items since I got this one and I’m just in awe. The X-men stuff is super cool too
Bring arts seem better. I totally hope they do Final Fantasy [3 or 6 which ever people prefer to call it] and Chrono Trigger. But Squaresoft hates money so they're gonna go for FF7 again.
Chrono Trigger would be great! Bring Arts is certainly better for nostalgia sake, I think
Yeah I just got my first bring arts chocobo and rider
The after market price for her are insane
Yeah, it is. Just gotta keep checking and make some offers on eBay or other apps like Mercari. Eventually you’ll get a deal!
Inazuma “e-nah-zoo-ma” is Japanese for lightning. You’re welcome. 😎
Haha. They use Katakana for foreign words and what I pointed at is “raitoningu”. (Lightning)
But you’re right and Kaminari is the more common term to reference lightning and/or thunder when speaking. (I lived in Japan for a year 🥹 I miss it so much)
@@NostalgiaUnboxed Yes, kaminari is thunder. I lived there for 14 years. I swear I’m not trying to 1-up you. 😅
@@EpykkDyzastur lol! Well I probably miss it more than you, so Ha!
@@NostalgiaUnboxed I don’t know. My kids are there and I really miss them.
@@EpykkDyzastur ugh, you win
