If you have a couple years to prepare I cannot recommend enough to go be a volunteer firefighter and you get that experience and confidence in being able to “learn tangible skills” and you get some nice experience and certifications while at it. It’s great because it’s an environment where you can learn how to adapt and work with stress which you will face in subsequent pipelines down the road… if you haven’t played a team sport before, it’s a great experience to learn how to be a team player with the people on your shift
Agree… We have had dozens of EMT firefighters go on to do specops related jobs. Great training!
