I just got one of these motors with everything needed to run it besides a battery and frame to put it on for $100 off the marketplace, brand new never used. I have been collecting 18650 high discharge cells so hopefully i can figure something out.
I installed this kit on my 71 Harley Sportster custom. I used a 180 55zr17" Metzeler. It was super soft. I was able to zip tie the sidewalls together basically making them one sidewall. I sprayed the rim with silicone spray and the tire went right on. I cut the ties and beaded the tire. Then I used ceramic beads to balance the tire. Nice video but the Metzeler would have saved you a ton of time.
back in the days of bumper jacks, we could set the foot of the jack onto the tire and force the bead on or off the rim. i guess these days we can also use some ky
I had them build it out for ~80mph at 120v. It's a BLDC so generally, top speed is based on your system voltage. I have gone at least 65mph with my set up at about 50% throttle
Sweet dude. Very excited to see upcoming videos. I just sold my ME1507 and planning get this same motor for my Ninja 250. Mind if I ask you how much you paid for it and where did you get it from. Seems like there are 2-3 different QS Motor websited all claiming they are the legit one!
I bought it from Sia on AliExpress, they are a subsidiary of QS. On order I told them what I wanted for the specs (current/ system voltage) Paid 830$USD but also had to pay 230$ importer fee.
Because tire shops have any clue what a hub motor is? Yea no.. What he did is about the only way to get a tire on a hub motor. They don’t fit on tire machines so it’s a manual process. And yes it suck’s pretty badly, however that last pop when the tire goes on makes up for everything.
I've been thinking of doing this for 3years now. Will follow closely.

Haha. Is it bad that I had to look up what bumper jacks are?
Nice 👍👍
very nice video
Thanks!
great stuff, but id put the hub cables pointing up before reaching the area you need to place it,cause it could get hit where you left it.
Awesome! I have a 12KW BLDC motor. me-1306. Do you know a reasonably-priced controller I can use to drive it? Thanks!
What size tire did u use
205/40R17
Is this watercooled version?
Regular air cooled
Nightmare for most tyre changing shops.they dont have the machine for.
Last question. Do you know roughly what the top speed is for that motor?

@@ForgeSpace oh wow so $230 was the tariff charges?
Yeah, it was an unexpected bill, however it's the only component I had to pay duties on.
@@ForgeSpace ok I just price from QSMotor. $830+$340 shipping
Just be aware you may get hit with the terrif on top of that. Who are they shipping with? Mine used DHL
Should've just taken it to a mechanic shop and pay them $30 to get it installed in less than 10 minutes.

PERCUSSIVE MAINTENANCE bwahaha
If brute force doesnt work, you are not using enough of it.
@@ForgeSpace XD
@@ForgeSpace the correct application of brute force or duct tape will generally solve all problems.
