PS5 might still get PS3 compatibility, the announcement image seemed to have more space underneath. With Octa-core Zen 2 inside, it is definitely powerful enough and Sony has the benefit of knowing exactly how PS3 works, without the need to reverse engineer it.

Yup, emulators have made huge progress in the last year or so. Dolphin can emulate nearly every single GameCube game to near perfection with upscaled resolutions, and you don't even need a very powerful PC for that. Cemu made full-speed Wii U emulation possible on high-end machines, and PCSX2 is progressing very nicely, now focusing more on accuracy after 97% of commercial PS2 games became playable from start to finish.

Much of the lag on Android devices is down to unoptimized code, rather than lack of CPU power (at least on current high-end devices). It's obvious the Dolphin team is focused first and foremost on the Windows, Mac and Linux versions, and that the Android version is more of an afterthought side-project.

With a 16core 10th gen & 2080s I still can't get the settings right to lock it around 120fps, Wipeout HD Fury at 120fps 1080p or 1440p is the dream... I need this in my life 😢
Amazing work as always. Too many PS3 games had stilted 30fps performance due to the aging hardware, this emulator is fixing that. At this pace we might get games like The Last of Us running at 4k 60+fps which you can't say about the PlayStation 4 pro even.
Yeah, currently most of the time its pretty easy to achieve 4k res in most games, something like gtx 1660 should do it pretty easily, its the framerate where its still problematic. Rpcs3 is mostly cpu bound and its hardest and slowest component to change/improve. Id say by the end of this year most AAA ps3 exclusives should be playable at least 30fps locked.
But what about cpu demand of rpcs3? Most people nowadays and me have 4 core cpu.. don't know much about gpu, but i have gtx 1060 3gb don't know if it's enough for rpcs3
And also, popular games like uncharted series shows running on i9 9900k!! Nice development but ps3 is really hard for emulation because of it's complex hardware..

SONY COULD EASILY MAKE AN PS3 EMULATOR FOR PS5! They are just lazy! Because it's first party I'm sure it can be optimized and run better than even RPCS3. The 8x AMD Zen 2 Cores in the PS5 can easily emulate PS3 games if Sony put forth the effort to develop the emulator and optimize it! We could have 4K, HDR, and 60FPS on games that never supported those features during old times. Heck, XBOX Series X already does SDR to HDR conversion on XBOX original and 360 games.

Being "lazy" has nothing to do with it, it's called cost efficiency. If when they made the PS3 they thought emulating the PS2 was either inaccurate enough or ineffective enough at the time they just stuck the PS2 chips on the PS3s board what makes you think a system as understandably hated to work with be emulated by software? Hardware emulation would give massive near perfect compatibility but it comes at a cost and in the case of the OG PS3 it was too much for the uneducated till they wanted backwards compatibility again...sigh...

to be more precise, mgs4 actually had a double buffer vsync similar to new Zelda so I'd assume it would need some small tweaks but probably not very hard to achieve higher than 60 fps.

Right-click the game to create a custom config setting. Vblank works differently with every games so we require users create per game configs for it, as mentioned at the end of the video.
One day it might actually be possible to play MGS4 in 60fps. Never thought that would be possible since they're never going to rerelease/remaster the game. It was somewhat spoiled by the poor framerate in the on the PS3.

Depends on the game i think. Most emulated games these days run perfectly fine at 60fps with only some minor issues here and there and ocasionally something breaks lol.

The kingdom hearts games speed up when using above the default vblank frequency. Even if the games didn't speed up all the physics are tied to frame rate which would make the game unplayable above 60 fps ( 60 fps also breaks the physics but not nearly as bad as higher frame rates). Your best bet is to use the 60 fps cheat engine code for 60 fps

I tried out Warriors Orochi 3 ultimate in my RPCS3. In-game it only runs 30 FPS with 60 Vblank. When I try to do 120 Vblank, I do get 60 FPS but the game is running at double speed. How to fix thr stable 30 FPs? Both framelimit and Vblank are 60 but still got 30 fps in game however 60 fps in the menu screen

there are a bunch of updates every day for pcsx2. but for some odd reason you can only find version 1.4.0 on the website. you have to search for the dev builds in order the get the newest updates.

My monitor only goes up to 75hz or fps, I want to play demon souls at 75fps but when I set the v blank to 90 I get screen tearing like mad even with frame limiter set to off or auto and setting a max framerate of 75fps with Nvidia control panel or RTSS, so not sure how to fix these screen tearing issues since vsync is def not working.

The ps4 remasters were heavily modified in order to run at 60 fps.

For some reason my VBlank setting is blocked or can't be changed, is there a curtain setting I'm on that prevents me from doing this
you have to create a custom configuration, only there you can change the vsync

I tried out Warriors Orochi 3 ultimate in my RPCS3. In-game it only runs 30 FPS with 60 Vblank. When I try to do 120 Vblank, I do get 60 FPS but the game is running at double speed. How to fix thr stable 30 FPs? Both framelimit and Vblank are 60 but still got 30 fps in game however 60 fps in the menu screen

Wish the pcsx2 had this much progress.
there are a bunch of updates every day for pcsx2. but for some odd reason you can only find version 1.4.0 on the website. you have to search for the dev builds in order the get the newest updates.
Is there anything that doesn't run on that? I haven't used it a ton actually, but everything I've thrown at it looks flawless to me.
@@anonamatron Most run, but not flawless. Baldurs Gate Dark Alliance still has glitchy videos. Burnout still has black sky. etc.

Well, on a PC you can play pc games, nes, snes, genesis, n64, ps1, saturn, ps2, dreamcast, gamecube, wii, wiiu, 3ds, psp, ps3, etc
Also you can make excel worksheets haha, think of it has a the whole package.

The cargo for part of the last of us is staying black in Vulkan. menu and stash can be accessed (so the game didnt freeze). need dev help for that. OpenGL actually works but takes one hell of a time
trying to play God of war collection but the FPS is uncapped and everything is in 2x speed, even after i cap my vblank to 60 FPS and turn vsync on. Anyone know whats wrong?

My monitor only goes up to 75hz or fps, I want to play demon souls at 75fps but when I set the v blank to 90 I get screen tearing like mad even with frame limiter set to off or auto and setting a max framerate of 75fps with Nvidia control panel or RTSS, so not sure how to fix these screen tearing issues since vsync is def not working.

Now if only Sony could bake in options like this for backwards compatible PS4 games as an "Experimental not supported" option. All that extra hardware power wasted. Unless we get the honor of the publisher deciding to sell us another version of the game in the near future that does the same thing.

It says Skate 2 is unplayable but mine plays just fine, how does one help update the list if possible?
This is great and all except now in 2024 y'all have resorted to only allowing this setting to be altered by right clicking a game on the games list which wouldn't be a problem except RPCS3 REFUSES to save games to the games list on my Mac. It will only play the game not save it 😢 please help
idk what else to do I have an intel i7 9th gen and a gtx 1660ti and i cant get dragon ball raging blast 2 to run at 60 frames. I saw people with an 1050 run it on stable 60 and im using the same settings as them but i only get 40 fps in slow motion, i mean it runs fast in the menu and the sound effects are all correct but the ingame animations are in slow motion help please

people forget the ps3 hardware was kinda limited because its a console thats why most games are locked to 30 fps... To run well...

This makes my framerate unlocked by my game runs at 100x speed. It's comical but not a solution. Idk how to have one without the other.
i have a problems, the PvZ blus30852 is much lag, in the minigames puzzle oh and too zen garden is much lag, 5.0 or 2.0 FPS please remastered please i speak spanish my english no is good 100% :C

What am I doing wrong? I have an OC'd i9-9900KF, 1080ti 11gb, and 16gb of DDR4 3400 yet when I hit the menu of GT6 it drops to less than 10fps. I have the vblank set to 120fps.

Even after custom configuration and applying the unlock fps patch on Shadows of the Damned, it still won't budge from 30fps. I've seen other RUclipsrs successfully do it, but I'm baffled on why it won't work for me.

then i play any game so its stuck in specific path about 15 minuts or sometime 30 minutes....and emulator shows fatal error or unmapped memory.... can you tell me what the problem in this emu.

pls hep i got the error (0xc000007b). i tryed almost everthink intalled all visualc++ netframework directx copied all dll files in system 32 and syswow64 nothing helped i cant start the emulator. the pcsx2 emulator just work fine
