Thank you so much for these videos! I actually just got hired a special education teacher after being a SpEd co teacher for 2 1/2 years so I’m kind of nervous for this new role. 😬
@@thebehaviorcheckin I have been a sped co teacher for about 2 1/2 years now but I guess I’m nervous about everything that comes with being a sped teacher as in the paper work, and the accommodations students should receive. As a co teacher my main objective was to make sure that my sped students were doing there work, learning, and behaving.
The IEPs tend to be very formulaic- much of the content doesn’t change from year to year other than the main components of Present Levels and Goals. Let the data and teacher/team feedback, and the students needs inform those choices . As she mentions in this video, the main thing I would be worried about heading into your first year is time management/organization in making sure you hit deadlines. Get a list of your upcoming IEP dates for your caseload as soon as you can, then mark your calendar and start collaborating with the rest of IEP team and gen Ed teachers to make sure you get a feel for what time of day works best for them. I promise it is not as intense as it sounds coming in to it, just give yourself time to develop your systems and have fun with it !
I would check out the University's scholarship for more information. I know some schools do a Teach grant and offer smaller scholarships and grants, but it would be very specific to the school. I am no aware of any full scholarships. Some work place will also offer tuition assistance.

Great to you!! I love your organization and being inclusive.
Thank you! My main mission is to write the best IEP I can without driving myself crazy!
Super so helpful.
Wonderful. I'm glad I was able to help. I have two other videos on my channel you might want to check out.
IEP schedule everything. Got it!❣
Live and die by it! :)
NYC teachers don't get extra pay. In our union everyone gets the same rate.
So glad I found this, so helpful!
I am so happy to hear that! Thanks for watching!
