    This was a BLAST to watch. Everyone accusing everyone else. Crazy!! I can't tell if Nikki is loving it, or just hoping it will be over! LOL! This would be a challenge for me, because I am a terrible liar. I also can't tell who's lying and who's telling the truth. What a fun party game!

    A fine episode of the Russel & Deborah Show! 🤣
    What an absolutely brilliant video, I've laughed so much at the two mentioned above, my sides are actually hurting. You must bring those two together at the table again, they were hilarious!
    And what about that Nikki, very sneaky, as she innocently sat there saying nothing, just quietly going about her business of undermining the good guys, brilliant!
    I really love trick takers, and this one is definitely going to have to be added to my collection. I've been aware of it for sometime, but just hadn't got around to purchasing it yet, but I think that'll change at the end of the month when I get paid.
    Absolutely top notch, fun video guys, thanks so much for the entertainment (and sore sides!).

    This was so stressful to watch. 😅 We all sometimes hit a point during game nights where the tension is high even though you're still having fun. One wrong comment and somebody actually gets mad. I felt that the whole time. 😂

    Thank you all for playing this for us. It was interesting and fun playthrough.
    I loved how Debra was thinking and playing, btw.
    I would love if you could also play a game or two of House Of Poison at some point when it becomes available to you, preferably at 4 or 5 player count at least like this one. And have Debra in for sure 😉

    Thanks so much for playing Inside Job, I had a blast watching you all play and speculate who was who! A few small things that were missed (no biggie!):
    The lead player CANNOT wager, even if their role hasn't been revealed yet. There were one or two tricks where someone had lead the trick and wagered.
    The symbol with the lock icon on the overview card indicates how many cards aren't played before the end of the hand. In the second game, you had all played out your final card. This gives the Insider a bit more flexibility to lie about what they have in their hand.
    For Missions that say "the X card played must have a higher/lower number than all other cards", it must be the ONLY card with that number. If player one plays a 13 and player two also plays a 13, player one no longer has a higher number than all other cards played.
    ____
    Happy to hear you enjoyed it, and thanks again for showcasing it :)

      Also the ruling of using wagers was a little bit messy. It just makes the card played (correctly said, that the card has to fit all normal rules) count like a trump, but it still keeps its color for any other means. So it conts as trump, but doesn't take the trump color. I think it would not made any differnence in this game, but its an important rule, especially when looking for solving the missions.
      Normally its very risky to wager early in a trick, as you give some else an easy possibility to steal that wager. Normally I would only do it if I play the last card in a trick.

      @@TheOriginalSqueezel Good shout out! That being said, cards with wagered Intel on them are for ALL purposes considered the trump suit, including for fulfilling Mission requirements! :)

    There's actually a 1 in 5 chance that someone will be the insider twice in a row. The 1 in 25 only holds if you want to know if a *specific* person will be it twice *before* playing the first round.

      Yeah the designer stepped in with a comment to correct us about this, totally my bad! I hope the gameplay still showcased enough of the fun potential (plus in both these instances I don't think it would have necessarily helped hide the identity of the insider 😁)

    I agree with Dave that there isn't much room to play if you do not have great cards. There needs to be something in the game to mitigate that part of the game

    • @lystic9392
      @lystic9392 9 месяцев назад

      I don't know that there is a way to mitigate things in between missions or during a mission.
      You could give everyone a once per game token to turn a card you play into a different color, but not into the trump color. (If it matches a card that is played in that round, the first played is the stronger of the two.)
      Hm. Probably wouldn't work. But something like that?

    • @jonwooden8354
      @jonwooden8354 9 месяцев назад

      Because of the variety of Mission criteria, there aren’t any obviously ‘great cards’. You might need odd cards, even, low or high. Obviously, having high cards might make it easier to win tricks, but not necessarily missions.
      I love that the Insider can try to hide, occasionally failing a mission because they ‘don’t have the cards’, or they can brazenly attempt to collect enough Intel tokens. Lots of variety here.

    • @KMReviews
      @KMReviews 8 месяцев назад

      Well if you do the advanced version you can wager intel to make your card the trump suit and win and decide on mission cards, etc.

  • @57thorns
    @57thorns 9 месяцев назад +3

    "So the wager just turns the card into the trump suit?"
    52:59
    Yes, that was how it was said when wagers were introduced, even if you needed a PHD in rules decoding to understand it from how it was said, so the confusion is understandable.
    Waging on a trump does exactly nothing.

    29:27 - the odds of Linc being the insider again at this point are now 1 in 4, if Russ has looked at his card already and knows that he's not the insider this time around. (Because the past game has no bearing on the present draw), then either Linc, Dave, Deb or Nikki must hold the Insider card, hence Linc has a 1 in 4 chance of holding it.

    47:55, Nikki can't lead AND make a wager...only non-lead players can wager. That rule should have been caught by the teacher of the game. And she did it again later after everyone sused her out for being the insider so she could "earn" more intel.

    So the insider can play whatever they want, can they not just trump the first three hands and win immediately or have I misunderstood?

    • @PandaOfElastic
      @PandaOfElastic 3 месяца назад

      That still requires them to have the highest trump cards. Otherwise, someone else can just play a higher trump and win. And it would be pretty obvious you were the Insider after like the second time doing it. Playing with wagers would also make it even easier to counter that approach and, honestly, the game seems like it was designed with wagers as the ideal way to play.

      the odds for him being the insider in the second game is 1/5 - but the chance for him being insider twice in a row is 1/25

      @darbyl3872 No, that only matters if you're referring to one specific player. Whoever gets it the first time has a 1/5 chance of getting it the second game. If I stated one specific player, that would be 1/25. Any player though is 1/5.

    Second game... Last card is not played!!! It's on the setup card.. 10 cards, 1 will not be played. And indeed the actual last trick waging as leading player was not allowed and also unnecessary because yellow was trump. And you don't win 2 wages as Nikki said, because you put 1 wage of yourself on the card and simply get it back.

  • @m.h.7389
    @m.h.7389 9 месяцев назад +8

    32:08 Dave shows a very bad behavior for a trick tacking game: just pick your card and play it whether you like it or not. The shuffle and ask someone else to choose blindly shouldn't be allowed at any trick-taking table.

  • @msmilder25
    @msmilder25 9 месяцев назад +3

    Interesting to watch, but I'd hate to play it. If people would just play, then discuss after the fact, it would be fine. What I hated was that someone would play a card, then 5-10 minutes of debate and back-and-forth takes place, should I place the intel, should I not place the intel, I'm not an insider, yes you are...meanwhile, the last two people who need to play their cards are just sitting waiting to play. I wish the discussion would take place between hands, or if they happen during play, it doesn't stop play...at one point, I was wishing they had a sand timer just to keep the turns going. Trick taking games are supposed to roll right along, and that second game was constantly being delayed unnecessarily just so someone could pre-defend their card play. The other thing was, there's one rule, you can't tell people what's in your hand...and before the 2nd card is played, everyone is saying "I have no yellow cards"...breaking the one rule repeatedly all game, which makes me wonder why the rule is there to begin with.
