It's comforting that y'all be choosing these people who started later in their lives T_T
@@Rumplegirlskin No we're shocked cause she started dancing at 22 years old and got to professional level. That's encouraging now that we see all these 12-16 years old professionals.
True that.
@@joannaeloranta154 Yeah, this is the most important and inspirational thing in this video because when you start at this age you think that you can do it only as a hobby because there are a lot of people that has over 10 years dancing experience when they are 22 and you start to think how you can possibly compete with all those people. A lot of people feel regret that they didn't start dancing soon enough, but this video gives hope that you can expect great results if you just keep practicing and stop thinking about that stuff.
House music is everything. I am 47 and have loved it for decades and she is so inspiring. Locked up in my apt. and so tempted to sign on to steezy and learn some new moves where no one will see me and ask who this old lady is 😄
@@piotrszmyt106 Exactly!☀
Sometimes I, at only 18, think it's too late to be a great dancer. Seeing all these 13-15 yr olds dancing pros. But lovely and motivational stories like these make me realize that dance doesn't have a set age limit at all. That all it takes is effort and motivation to turn your dreams into reality. Thank you for setting up this Steezy amd thank Ms. Katherine(hopefully I spelled that right) for giving us your time. Being willing to help all us dancers on our road to wherever life takes us. ☺
Robert N. Sameeee robert i always feel discouraged to start dancing because i'm like "i'm already 20 what's the point" but it's been like that since i'm 17 at this point i feel like i'm just making excuses bc im afraid to start, after seeing this it makes me feel like there is no more excuses if she could do it i can do it and also you!!!
@@janinerodriguez4893 Absolutely! The only person that can stop you is YOU. So we just got to get out of our own way.
Oh my god at how much I relate to this! But yeah I think the important thing I need to always remind my self is that that’s now what’s important necessarily but it’s about your own relationship and growth with dance. And even then, being 18 too, I saw it as too late and it discouraged me, but really it should just motivate me to work harder to “catch up” with other people who have been dancing for a longer time at a younger age.
You're never too old to start! Just do ❤️
Literally same! I’m 18 too and I feel like I’ve started too late! I’m glad I can see someone slaying at 49!!
Wow. Such an amazing story. I had NO CLUE that there was a woman on the jabbawockeez. Shows just how talented she is.
Thought is all man too
Janae Rosebud is considered the 'first lady,' she won a competition through their YT channel and then made it into the Jreamz cast. She was full time (I was PT) and she is just extremely talented.
Or it shows how recognizable their brand is. That literally anyone can be in the crew even when the original 6 guys retire.
The Jabba's have expanded a lot but those people are mostly for replacements or bigger shows.
Congrats to her, truly.
The fact that the jabbawockeez incorporates females into the group in a way that you dont know who is who is really fucking amazing. Shout out to them fellas for that. Giving opportunities you dont know
Yeah but the women have to be flat chested and have hardly a rump to be apart of their shows. They gotta make it look almost unisex to a point where you don't know if it's a man or a woman behind the mask.
"The music doesn't downgrade women."
This quote both pleased and saddened me...because Hip Hop.
Kevin servHis I also felt the same way.
The jabbawockeez are the cure for sexism in hip hop. You become a jabbawockee and boom, you no longer have to deal with sexism because basically they're unisex.
Because of hip hop ?
I’m turning 36. I’m still pursuing my dance dream. Don’t give up everybody!
🙏
Damn you basically ancient
Sunny Park Let’s dance battle son
I'll smoke you kid
This one was special for me. Started dancing at 28, now 30. It had always been a dream to dance and it still blows my mind that I'm doing it now and even going on stage in front of people from time to time. It is tough to see yourself so far behind much younger people, thinking of what could have been if only you'd started sooner, but seeing improvement is impossibly rewarding at any age and as older students I think we might appreciate it even more. Thank you for this video. We late starters will all be great too.
_'Those who start early find maturity, those who start late find youth - those who start on time find comfort.'_ [they're not famous but someone I respect said this]
Jojo Diggs has always been one of the most fascinating figures in dance for me and hearing her story is such a blessing. Thanks for being vulnerable.
I'm starting my dance Journey at 32, but trust me... I feel like 22. Age has never been a factor in achieving new limits for me. It takes dedication, motivation and creativity to make ANYTHING work for you. Believe in your abilities and be open to challenges and you will continue to grow. This was an amazing inspirational video!
I'm 37 and finally starting. I'm so incredibly happy that I did and I truly love it
I started when I was around 19 and man it's discouraging haha. So great to hear unique journeys like this that defy age norms in the industry. They remind me my dreams are still possible
I started when i was 27.Now 38 I am still going to class cause i love dancing and its a great way to make new friends and keep fit. So good for the mind and soul..
There is nothing to be ashamed of if you are older than everyone. The important thing is do what you want to do. And do what you love. No one should be stopping you. YOLO :)
Gavin Huang how to be a good dancer at the age 27
For the first time, I am thankful for the creepiness of the internet (where is seems to know the deepest, darkest desire of my heary) and gave me this awesome video! I'm a 34-year-old mom of 3 who suppressed her love for music and dance for many, many years. I almost broke down. Then I found BTS. Then I found this video which made me find Jojo Diggs. Thank you so much! It's not too late for me. 😍
I believe in you
Ha, this is similar to me. With j-hope about to release his dance docuseries, I'm wondering if I'm destined to just live vicariously through him or if it's not too late for me to start learning to dance. Did you ever start dancing? Similar to Jojo, my pull is for House, though I'd really like to learn a bit of popping and locking.
@@cybrpunk i have not, and i am kind of bummed i did not start when i was younger (which was also the time my interest in dancing started). right now, i am taking back my life slowly and started with voice lessons again (something I gave up when I had kids). i am grateful to know you, army! cheers to us!
Wow you’re such an inspiration! I’m only 22 and sometimes I think I’m already too old to start learning dance but videos like these really motivate me to finally start living out my dream 🙏🏻
I'm 22 too and this year I'm definitely going to try to learn how to dance! let's not give up!
Your definitely not. Actually starting as a young adult has its benefits because you dont get the accumulated injuries those who started as kids get. Many who start as kids burn out before they reach their prime.
I am 27 and just started dancing as a hobby. But I want to learn properly. This gives me hope.
I really really really needed this video. As someone who started dancing at 22ish to only start "training" more hardcore at 25, it felt really good to hear Jo Jo say she started at 22 and reached so much success not only as a dancer but as an activist and other things. I feel such a weight lifted and tears in my eyes even. I had this on my "watch later" for so long .. everything comes at the right time. Thank you!
Update? How’re you now!!
She NAILED it about House... im from Jersey and grew up on all that old late 80s early 90s house. still rocking it till this day. Keep up the good work Miss love it
I'm 39...and I've been dancing privately (by myself) for years...and this video...gives me hope. Thanks for sharing your story.
This feels so comforting to me. I'm 14 and seeing young dancing legends like Bailey sok makes me feel really inferior and my confidence just goes down so many levels. But then I realized how I'm still so young and I have yet more opportunities in dance to come! And that there's no age limit in dance. Thank you Steezy for this video♥️
I took Jojo’s class close to 10 yrs ago when she came to NY once and it was so much fun and informative. Her energy is incredible! Thanks for this video!
I really love dancing. Sometimes when I watch dance videos on. RUclips I cry because this is what I really wanted to do. I'm turning 30 this year and I feel its impossible for me to reach that dream. 😭😭😭😭😭 But after watching this video it kinda give me hope. It's my dream to dance with Jabbawockeez.
Dear you can still dance..age is just a number.
LAST nothing is impossible, just only difference is they started early & we yet to start 😊
I always feel like im too old to start dancing because of all these young amazing dancers and im only 20... seeing this really gives me motivation to start!
I needed this right now 🥰 it motivates me to dance more and push myself more!
YAS, do it!! ❤️
@@steezystudio thank you, although I have never begun a dance class in my entire life I have hope now because of you... Although I'm not sure if they let men as old as 28 years or older be apart of their group but I'm in hopes of trying. I'm eventually getting their dance instructing dvds to learn their moves.
WOWWW!!! She was a Jabbawockeez?? AMAZING & COOL! Not sure why I thought they were all guys..so wrong of me!! She is a phenomenal dancer!!
Thank you for sharing your story!! As someone who's 23 and never fully been immersed in a dance community, or had an upbringing that encouraged it, but always felt moved by music, this video was so encouraging that it's never too late to start. A lot of the time I see kids or younger people dancing and think that it's too late for me, but your story totally proves that wrong. Love your energy, thanks for being a role model.
You’re never too old honey .... I’m 51 ( in body )...& 21( in mind) .Just started dancing now , something I wanted to do when I was about 9 & it never happened( better late than never ), if you want to do something badly ... make it happen & forget age.
Yeah, I have to say I do feel inspired. I used to dance a lot when I was younger. Never did anything serious which I now regret a little bit. Especially now at 37, I wish I kept it up and did things but I feel like I can get back into it. Hearing this, something made me feel it’s possible that I can get back into dance and enjoy it. Not in a competitive way but just for the love and enjoyment. So thank you 🙏
it's reeeally crazy that I was just thinking about this yesterday and now this video is showing up in my tl.
At the age of 14 I started dancing because it helped me to release stress, but when I was 16 y/o I stopped because of a very serious back pain and I haven't danced since then (I'm 21 years old now). I really miss dancing and how it made me feel (life was hard without dancing) 😭 I frequently think that it's too late for me to dance now, I'm still in recovery and I don't know when I'd be able to dance again without feeling pain, but this video really made me realize that I'm wrong. It's never too late. I'll never give up on dancing and I'll keep going to therapy to feel better and so I can dance again 💖
YAS. I’ve been passionate about hip hop since i was little- the early 80s. I’m a teacher and still a dancer now at 41. And I’ll keep going. And i LOVE the Jabbawockeez.
Jojo has been one of my most influential instructors. She's legit, and her wisdom shows.
Thank you Eric
This is soo inspiring, I'm 22 now and I'm trying to get into but I felt for a while that I was too old. Now I know that isn't a thing!
I have always been the oldest in my dance classes and it makes me feel weird and alone sometimes. This is so inspirational. Thanks for the video
What a great soul. So much peaceful wisdom. Love it.
A most sincere interview ribboned with nuggets of wisdom. Very inspiring!
I love your light, your character. I always thought how am I going to do this when I’m older but I’m so uplifted by your journey so thank you for sharing. And you are an AMAZING dancer! Ha! just watched a Jabbawockee video the other day and it had me crack in’ up!!
This is beautiful. I'm 40 years old and always wanted a career as a dancer. Sadly I don't dance professionally but I resonate with her story so much... the passion, journey, introversion, art, vision. It's beautiful and inspiring. Thank you for sharing.
So inspiring! Thanks for sharing your story Jojo!
What an AMAZING video! I love this content and feel so inspired! Thank you, Steezy!
I'm not a dancer, but hearing such an advice from Ms Katherine just eases my mind. I've been rushing my whole life, I need to find myself in it all. Thank you so much 🙏🏻
She is SO inspirational! 😊
The ‘HoUSe’ moment about being free to the music I can do relate too. I’m in my 40’s and from that House era, what you said just made so much sense to me. People thought I was weird to go hear my friend spin - drive 45min away just to dance for 2hrs, by myself. And I’m a huge Jabawockeez fan. I’m a stroke survivor and dance is what helped me get from wheelchair to walker to back to teaching TKD and lifting. It is so cool you’re Jabawockeez. So cool.
I love her! She is a True Legend in the industry
wow i think that's one of the most honest and true statements i've seen in a looong time 'just accept and love where you are in this moment and then share that' ....preach lady
Steezy, thank you for doing these motivational videos! I love hearing dancers stories. I can’t believe I ever thought I was too old. Thank you for reminding us it’s never too late!💗🙏🏾 Thank you for sharing🌸
I m so glad I found this video , talk about accident. I recently started dancing at age of almost 29
I m quite sad to see teenagers giving up because someone told them it's too late. I mean what kind of person you have to be to tell someone *its too late * to dance. You dont need reason or skill to dance , just will. I have been freestyle-ing for almost a year before finally finding the studio . Now I can focus on going to competitions and enjoy every second of it. Remember , it's all in your head. If u want it , go for it.
Im just 14 but I have a kinda... really big dace related dream but I haven't ever professionally trained yet ( though according to everyone around me im good enough to be a performer which is exactly what i wanna do) And sometimes I think I started too late since I only started teaching myself at 12 XD everyone's been dancing since birth it's so frustrating sometimes!!
@@brigc7755 if you wanna do it then you know what to do . A lot of great dancers started from your age like I m 29 , I want to be dance teacher I want to go to competitions, it's all about how bad do you want it?
OMG! I just started learning hip hop at 36. It feels so weird to be a middle aged white girl learning this style, but I love it! I’m not alone! 🙏
You’re not middle-aged by all means XD 36 is very young
@@vesschan You are so nice!
You are so amazing! Thank you Steezy for sharing this, some of the things she said really spoke to me, and it was what I really needed to hear at this particular moment. 💕
I’ve never heard of her before this interview, but now I’m love with her personality. She seems like really, really cool peeps. Definitely going to flow her now.
Completely love this video, I want to see more like this of different groups
This video is beautiful. Thank you.
STEEZY producing quality content.
So so so inspiring! Thanks for that Steezy and Jojo 💖 much love
My friend was pulled up on stage at the Vegas show. She figured out that one of them was a female. This show was the highlight of our trip. We loved it!
Very Inspiring, Well Done, Love your Story!
good choice.. house music.. a woman of culture
I love her energy and vibe!
JUST found this video now, and its so inspiring, it helps keep my motivation up 💖💖
yeah ima need y’all to continue this series ❤️
Always keep striving for it. Don’t let life stop you and you can do anything. Anything within reason of course lol.
awesome and insightful video!
Love this!! ❤️
This is very motivational for me because I danced for about 7 years throughout childhood, but stopped at 17 due to moving and not being able to find a good studio. Now I'm 23 and I want to get back into it and I was so scared that it was too late for me to pick it up again. Yay to all the dancers starting at "older" ages!
You are amazing!!!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE!
Wow she's gorgeous!
So inspiring! THANK YOU
Needed this, beautiful video
She’s the true definition of talent and hard work ✨
Girl....YOU ARE EVERYTHING!!!!!🔥🔥
Great wonderful talent,truly amazing,wow.
Lovely!!
Sometimes I feel too old to start dancing... all of these seven year olds and nine years olds are out there dancing like pros; people send their kids to dance class starting from three years old. But this really showed me that age is really not a barrier; thank you for this.
Love thissss
Omg🥺❤️ JoJo was one of the judges for a battle I was in yesterday, and she voted for me even though I didn’t move on in the battle, it meant the world to me😭 Culture shock family ❤️
This was a great video. Needed to see this. I’m 39 and I’ve been wanting to get back into to dance again. Been sharing my art maybe one day dance too.
This video is so important thank u ✨♥️
I really enjoyed a house class of Jojo's that I recently took on Steezy. I'm a beginner but it was challenging and so much fun. I never considered house dance before but it's opened my eyes
Thanks jojo n steezy for keep making my 💕beats for dancing each times ☺ i feels down n not confident
She's so humble♥️
I feel the same was about House music which I learned to dance to. The culiture of House is so nuturing and free which gave me the confidence to truly express myself through dance.
Your story is so inspiring!!! I thought it's already late to start dancing at the age of 21 but clearly, it's not. Thank you for sharing!!
You always make smile on my face 😊 I don't get bored & I love your every class on Steezy. 💌 JoJo Diggs 💌 You are my all time favourite Instructor on Steezy.
🇳🇵Thankyou 🙏
WOW!! Thank you so much!!
Jojo's a really dope human being to be around. She's done so much for the culture especially with Diggs Deeper! Keep being awesome, Jojo!
Thank you homie, respect
Inspiration ❤❤❤
this is super super cool!
Very inspirational! even after 10 years of practicing the art of dance I am still often that introvert during dance events
When I started at 19, I didn't even know i was late starting at dancing until I met som kids 4 years later whobwere just killimg it in the same class i went to at Edge. I was like, time to step up my game quick.
I’m 41 and have been a “closeted dancer” all my life. I fantasize about being a professional dancer every single day at my boring office job. I’ve always wanted to get into dance, but have no idea how/where to start. My young niece is a dancer, but I don’t want to take the shine away from her. Every time I see her perform, my feet literally itch because I want to perform so bad. It’s been a life long dream I’m afraid I might not be able to realize in this life. Until then, I have music and my hidden dreams to keep me happy. I’m so happy she realized her dream at 39, it’s truly and inspiration.
Yeah house dance is my 1st Love i believe thru this video the universe is telling me get back to dancing 😁💙✨
Amazing!!! and Amazing person!!
Wasn't expecting deep life advice from a video about dance. Loved it.
love her. Such a likable personality. And her words about not being perfect but being honest once again reminded me what I'm doing wrong. That's it. Today I'm going to record myself dancing. Phew...wish me luck lol
Edit: recorder it and deleted instantly lol and i spent my best years in a ballet classroom...what a waste lol
This is such a cool video
Goddd I want to meet jabbawockeez myself! I want to meet them and thank them for being one of the best inspirations I can ever have as a dancer! You’re amazing and your story is wonderful to hear, I hope I get to meet you too! :)
Hehe...jojowockee
Lol
She seems like such a dope soul. Love this.
ok but i lowkey wanna cry just from the comments and the fact that there is someone as amazing as her that started dancing around my age. when i was, i kid you not, 16 years old, i already thought it was already too late because all i could see was dancers that started at like... five years old lol. so thank you thank you thank you so much for sharing your stories
Jojo Diggs is such a boss. love her
I like that bowler hat...wah wah woooo!!!
Omg you inspire me so much
“Who I am is Katherine”
Idk why i almost cried??? Like that hit somewhere. I cant find the place it hit but it hit.
For a long time I thought I couldn't dance and I was ashamed of it. Then I went to a dance school and realized that my problems were of a psychological nature and I found my first approach to dancing. It's like learning a language. It took me a long time to overcome it. But now is the right time. The interview inspired me a lot.
Great attitude and gorgeous too.
She is so wise I love it
