I'm surprised this video doesn't have more likes. Being a medic in the southeast, I don't think most folks in EMS have the mindset to be open to this kind of thinking. Most won't get it because they're not ready to get it. I've been an interfacility medic for years after being a 911 medic. At some point, I lost confidence in my abilities. I burned out. I developed a fear of running "bad" calls again. I hid in a bottle for years. After many years of being burned out and not enjoying my job, I found myself hitting that proverbial bottom. I got out of that bottle and began to rehabilitate my life. An unexpected result from all of this was that I wanted to face my fears and become a "working" medic again. I'm back on a 911 truck again and rehabilitating my career now. Presence is going to be key in overcoming my fears and doubts. This is something I never thought would happen for me again. Training used to be a chore. Now here I am hunting RUclips vids to help me become a better medic. Meditation is so underrated. Thank you for this video.

A true full circle hero's journey. Congratulations on getting back in the seat. That is something to be incredibly proud of sir. More importantly, you are in a perfect position to influence the younger EMTs and Medics around you.
The world is a different place for EMS today. Leading with poise and confidence in chaos is going to be key as more complex incidents present themselves.
Thank you for all you do to support your peers and patients.

Thanks for your thoughtful reply. My mother hung a sign over the kitchen sink. It's a constant reminder of my life. It sounds cliche, but it has a deeper meaning when I see it today: "Bless This Mess." Because the "mess" has something to teach.@@RyanFieldsSpack

I love this video. Here in rural mtns of norcal we don't have the liberty of standing back and managing a scene without also taking on all ALS tasks. So, I am working on staying centered and creating a calm environment so that I can continue managing and implementing all ALS procedures. Hard to do! Thanks for the great tips.
