HOKKAIDO BACKCOUNTRY SKIING; views of the Sea of Japan

One of my favorite ski tours in Hokkaido is to backcountry ski the Annuprui Range with views of the Sea of Japan. Spring is the best time to do this when there is more settled weather.
During the high Winter months of January and February there aren’t many opportunities like this. The weather at that time is generally snowing with high precipitation.
The temperature had gone up the previous day and so the snow at lower elevations up to 400 meters was initially icy and then heavy and wet.
I initially experienced the issue of my skin balling up on the ascent, where the snow sticks to the skins. I unfortunately did not have any skin glue, but the situation improved as I ascended and got into colder snow.
The views from the top of the peak were amazing and the ski down on the north aspect was shallow powder snow.

De Mini Peak is mt. 997 is one of the more toured mountains great fun left from the top is mt. Kuma. Hope you did not get a sun burn with this lovely day today

Yes. Good advice. Usually I am in the higher elevation mountains at that time of year where there isn't this issue.
