  • This device turns lights on automatically when it's a night, and off when it is a daytime, just like street lighting.
    How it works: This device turns light bulb ON when it senses darkness and turns the light bulb off when it senses light.
    What you need to build this device:
    1. MOSFET 2N7000
    2. Light dependent resistor LDR07
    3. 470k resistor
    4. 12V Relay
    5. 12V Power Source
    6. Wires.

    Is there any apparent benefit of using a Mosfet instead of ordinary universal Transistors? Using ordinary transistor need a schmidt Trigger circuitry as well otherwise the Relay chatters when the light is "half bright half dark"

    You might want to put a diode across the solenoid to protect the transistor from back EMF. and also if you include a variable resistor you can adjust the switching point.

    THANKS!! IT WORK!! YOU CAN TO USE ALSO TRANSISTOR EQUIVALENT: BC558.

    • @ElectricalPro
      @ElectricalPro  6 лет назад

      Hi, actually BC558 is not equivalent to 2N7000. To make it work with BC558 you at least need to choose correct value of the resistor, and with a BC558 transistor, you'll also need to reverse the polarity of a power source, because it is PNP transistor.

    • @ElectricalPro
      @ElectricalPro  6 лет назад

      Probably not any, but you can for example try BC547 or similar NPN transistor. I did not test it with NPN transostors at all, so I don't know if it will work, feel free to experiment.

    May I substitute 2N7000 with IRFZ44?
    May I substitute LDR with phototransistor?
    Greetings from Indonesia

    • @ElectricalPro
      @ElectricalPro  5 лет назад

      Hi, yes, I think IRFZ44 will work. But, IRFZ44 has a higher "Gate Threshold Voltage" so maybe you will need to replace 470k resistor with something lower, for example with 220k. But I am not sure that it is necessary to replace the resistor... 470k resistor may work just fine.
      If you replace LDR with a phototransistor it is not going to work (most likely). LDR is very different from phototransistor, you will need a different circuit for that, so my answer is: no.
      P.S. Greetings from Ukraine

    • @ElectricalPro
      @ElectricalPro  6 лет назад +1

      If you want to light up multiple light bulbs you need to connect them in parallel, just like in a chandelier. Just google: "parallel connection of bulbs"
