The "flying suit" Sam is wearing has always been my favorite.
Man I’ve never realized how many episodes of BEWITCHED I’ve missed.I’m 41 and thought I’ve seen every episode.Boy was I wrong!😩
LOL. I'm, well, let's just say I'm slightly older than you, and I've seen 'em all.
I'm 43, and when I was a kid I remember watching them on the kitchen television with my mom when they were on Fox 5 in New York City and it was my favorite show. But I had no clue either how many episodes would be which there was until I got older and I was able to buy the DVDs and watch them cuz some of them I've seen on TV like especially when they went to Europe and England.
@@dianetheisen8664 I feel like a fossil ! I watched them when they were first run episodes on ABC TV on Thursday nights .
@@Deutschie Me, too! Saw them when they 1st aired.
Same here. Im 42. Just saw the first 2-3 seasons for the first time ever on Roku. That's how I found out uncle Arthur played a totally different character the driver guy. Lol. Otherwise growing up I was fascinated when Serena came on the scene. Man growing up in the 80s🥲
Lol..."who'd want him?" Oh Endora!!
Yes, that was funny.
I love this episode with Carlotta. Endora: "Zapp for zapp she's unbeatable" 😂😂 Poor Dick York having to run with his back problems.
I felt sorry for him, too. But he's a consumate actor and if you didn't know about his troubles, you wouldn't know.
There are certain episodes where they used a stunt double, like when Darrin falls into Larry in "Cousin Edgar" or when Darrin is thrown onto the sidewalk in "Samantha Goes South for a Spell." But there's other episodes where it really is Dick York doing the stunts, like this episode, in "A Most Unusual Wood Nymph," where he trips over a table and lands on his back (!), and "No Harm Charm" when it's really him stepping on that rickety ladder. I cringe knowing what was going on. Oddly, they don't have Dick Sargent do nearly as much physical comedy as they had Dick York do, despite Sargent not having a back injury to worry about.
Carlotta isn't unbeatable. The witches Council can take her powers if they wanted to
@@arfies Dick Sargent was only incapacitated by his lack of acting ability.
He's probably not really running. They just speed up the film.
Dick York was in such pain and on medications especially during the latter portion of the series. It was very cruel the way the show made him do such awful physical labor.
A lot of it is sped up and on repeat though
Dick York could've also told Bill Asher about the injury from the start. On the day of filming the first episode, I read that he was in such pain that he couldn't get out of his car.
I suspect that a double did much of the physical work. For example, his scenes in SAMANTHA GOES SOUTH FOR A SPELL, where Darrin (York) is climbing the trellis and when Darrin is thrown out of the mansion, I suspect that a stunt double took York's place.
They did everything to help him. Dick York said the crew even carried him around when needed. This is one reason why he loved the show and those on it.
I just watched one where he swung a golf club thru almost the entire show. I felt bad for him also.
Carlotta sure gave good drama with her gestures of magic - love that!! ❤️
She'll be the voice of the demon 😈 in the "Exorcist" 1973.
The one and only Mercedes Mccambridge!
@@Andy_ZP She’s absolutely DIVINE ❤️
Matter of fact, your message made me want to watch it again. So I did. Thanks‼️👍🏻
This episode with Darrin terrified, running forever, always creeped me out. Mercedes McCambridge, who played Carlotta, won an Oscar for “All the King’s Men” in the 40s. She was also the voice of the demon in The Exorcist. Great actress.
Carlotta appeared to be a match to Endora! What made Bewitched so unique was how the warlocks and witches wielded their powers - the hand and arm gestures - the more powerful witches and warlocks were more expressive- the grand appearances-the zapping and casting of spells - Carlotta definitely mimicked Endora in some of her zaps -and the way she would pop out!
I just love the cast of character actors they find for this show. They're marvelous.

In reality, Dick York was sick in this episode.
You can tell just by the expressions on his face that he was not well. From Ms. Harper Stacey.
I always wondered if this episode was filmed around him
It was probably written in his favor to go easy on him.
"who'd want him?" HAHAHAHHA
I loved it when Sam told her mother not to marry Tabitha off while she's was gone.
I've always said that Samantha is extremely intelligent. She didn't get into a witches fight with Carlotta, she used psychology. Sam played herself off against Carlotta if she became her son's wife. Things were going to be different. In the end Juke learned nothing. His new wife was like his mother. 😀
I think Carlotta's son's name was Duke, although I admit it sounded like 'Juke'.
@@dianetheisen8664 No, it was Juke
This episode made it seem like Carlotta was so powerful that even Endora wouldn't step to her. So why didn't Sam just call Maurice? That would have been a clash of the titans, but he wouldn't have backed down.
I'd be mad too if my mom married me off to someone I've never met or never loved, plus that Carlotta is one bad witch, I still wouldn't be afraid to stand up to her
Which our heroine, Samantha, did just that.
Carlotta to Endora, " You're a sight for sore eyes"..
Endora replies, "You're a sight too."😆
WHAT???
Endora, vs. Mercedes Mccambridge?
The very voice of the devil himself.
Epic.
It's funny how much this Darrin had a real Mark Linn-Baker comedic edge.
Wow. Another episode I haven't seen. And Endora really seemed contrite and concerned. She should have turned Carlotta into a turnip after that insult.
With a mom like Carlotta, no wonder he needs mommy to get a wife for him!
😂
Well a deal is a deal, even if it was in medieval times. LOL!
It WAS the Middle Ages! 😂

I remember Endora saying about Carlotta "Zap for zap she's unbeatable". Oh please, the witches Council could take Carlotta's powers if they wanted to.
Yeah, but the Witches' Council was (1) old fashioned, and (2) openly against Samantha being married to a mortal.... chances are, they would've immediately taken Carlotta's side.
And Endora was always scheming to Break Samantha and Darrin up she must have secretly on Charlotte's side. even if she didn't like her.
Magnificent performance Mercedes McCambridge merriment I love ❤️ 😍 that word
The stars they got to guest on this show!! I don't think I ever saw this one.
I hear the voice of Pazuzu in the voice of Carlotta.

@@dianetheisen8664 The demon in “The Exorcist.”
@@arfies Thanks!
At 3:23 when Mercedes says where shall we put him, she seems to gasp or have some breathing issue. Elizabeth looks like she breaks character and then looks to the camera as if anticipating the director wants to redo the scene, and Agnes looks like she's jumping up to help Mercedes. It is very quick. I wonder if Mercedes had medical issues and the other two thought maybe something was wrong.
Um... this is why they chose her to play the voice of the devil, in the Exorcist.
Mercedes was a champion smoker.
Hello...
Good intuition! Mercedes McCambridge suffered from chronic bronchitis. When she was asked to provide the voice of the demon Pazuzu, she went all out. She temporarily halted her asthma inhaler, gargled whisky (even though she was a recovered alcoholic), chain smoked and allowed the director William Friedkin to bind her to a chair during voiceovers.
At first, she didn’t want to be credited for her work on screen. Much of the dialogue was practically x-rated. No one knew how the film would be perceived. When it opened on December 26, 1973 to rave reviews, she insisted that her name be added to the credits. The think was, there was already rumbling about Linda Blair receiving an Academy Award nomination for best supporting actress. Although it was obvious a voice double was used, Friedkin didn’t want to hurt Blair’s chances and delayed taking any action on Mercedes’ behalf, beyond assuring her that one day everyone would know who she was. She ending up suing and her name was included. Friedkin didn’t like to be sued for any reason and declined working with her later on to clean up the language for TV spots and presentations, preferring to do them himself.
@@jimhaggard7436 Wow! I am not an 'Exorcist' fan. In fact, I never saw it. But I appreciate you're info on the Carlotta actress. Thanks.
I never noticed that and I have seen this episode many times! Thanks for pointing that out; I shall have to look out for that next time I see it.
@@dianetheisen8664 Mercedes (1917-2004) had a tragic life, although she lived to be 87. In the 1980’s she let her adult son, an accountant, handle some of her money. To impress her, her son took some financial risks that resulted in her losing money. To keep her from finding out, he’d replace her lost money with other clients’ money that he embezzled. Eventually, he was found out and was sentenced to a prison term. Mercedes testified against him. In return, he killed himself, his wife, and two daughters and left a scathing suicide note blaming his mother for not loving him enough. So sad…
Sam looks marvelous in her flying suit!
The magic sound effects were very clean in this episode, minus the canned laugh track. Definitely watch it from the beginning.
You wouldn't think that it was "Carlotta" who did the demonic voice in "The Exorcist".

The Generations all wore their clothes, Endora, Carlotta, Maurice always in the finest, practically Royal Attire, Uncle Arthur, Serena and Duke, all Hip and Mod and then our Samantha, the Normal. I always ♥ loved this show. The actors were fantastic. I felt bad about dick York. Back pains suck.
I like sams mother, andora the actress, but i didnt like her character. I hated her interuptions and punishing darren, for no reasons, except to be selfish.
This disturbed me, and was a huge part of the show, and i still loved it. Go figure. Lol.
Well, while I agree with you, there was at least one episode where Endora did, in fact, teach Darrin a lesson. Not sure of the episode's title, but it was with the 1st Darrin and Endora gave Samantha a wedding gift and actually called Darrin by his correct name. Darrin made Samantha give back the gift, which was a sexy little dress, because Endora zapped it up using witch craft. So, Endora called him a 'small man', causing Darrin to shrink. Without giving too much away, it took a drunkard to demonstrate (to Darrin) that you don't look a gift horse in the mouth, no matter how that gift is procured (unless it's hot LOL' , which it wasn't).

I once reviewer describe Mercedes McCambridge in this episode as "Jason Alexander in drag". Ha!
I was thinking the same thing. You helped me to process that there is an agenda here. Not to mention the new Darren was as gay as a $3 bill and there was no chemistry between the couple anymore. The premise of the show was all make believe and comedy, but underneath we are played.
@@jmallett6081 It was the 2nd Darren (Dick Sergeant) that was gay. Dick York was straight and had a thing for Elizabeth Montgomery.
