Lovely Jennifer! I live in Dalarna and have been to the lovely lake where you spent your second night - it’s a treasure. I’m so glad you enjoyed your autumn here - it really is so beautiful ❤️
It was an amazing drive to the lake - one which I only took because I searched for fika, and this place came up. Such a privilege to have the lake to myself! I hope to explore Dalarna more soon
You are a lake hunter ☺️ They call Finland The Country of Thousand Lakes (De tusen sjøers land), but Sweden actually have more lakes than Finland. Maybe the Country of Two Thousand Lakes 😂 I am a Norwegian having a cottage by another lake, and in your videos you really catch what is unique in having an old, red, simple cottage (torp or stuga) in Sweden. We are not that far away from each other, and if you would like to go mushroom hunting together later this year, I would love to meet you in a forest, by any lake. Anyway, keep up producing beautiful videos. When the lockdown is over again.

The way you have chosen to continue your journey is showing strength and to follow such a beautiful dream hugging nature and family ❤ God bless you🙏❤🙏
In Brisbane, Queensland, Australia the saying ‘no such thing as bad weather, just unsuitable clothing’ couldn’t really apply here because it is soooooo HOT and HUMID for at least 6 months of the year that even if you walked around naked you’d still be sweating like a pig and get cooked alive from the scorching sun - as does all the vegetation... if it’s not burnt to a cinder then it’s brown and dead for months on end... you are unbelievably lucky to have a home in the northern hemisphere, especially in Scandinavia which is just breathtakingly beautiful with it’s short summers and 4 seasons - in Brisbane we only have HOT and Humid and not so hot... I especially stayed in Europe for 6 months to escape our neverending, relentless, hot, humid summers so I could experience a real Autumn and a real winter, I LOOOOOOVED it soooo much I cried buckets when I had to come back to Australia and was sooooo sad for at least 12 months afterwards because I would soooo love to live in Europe...
When you mentioned "Alingsås" i thought "Oh, that´s close to home!" and when you showed the lake I instantly recognized my favorite lake!! The water in the cottage comes from a well - but unlike Lapland where you guys live, the winters aren't quite so cold (no minus 30, I hope!). Stuck in the UK at the moment, but can't wait to get out to the cottage again as soon as I can
Hi Jen, you're painting the Swedish nature in a very positive light and rightly so! Enjoying a fika in Alingsås is something everyone in Sweden should experience. Lovely place.

Hello Jennifer! It´s been a joy looking at your videos and listening to your soothing voice. I just want to say Welcome to Sweden! You did a good choice, especially now in these´s changing times in the world. I myself have been blessed with living in Sweden since I was a child, but also many other countries. Sweden fortunately has always been my home base. I have one question, why did you choose Sweden? (maybe it´s in your videos, I have only seen a couple yet, but I´m getting there). Wish you a blessed life. Alexander
Thanks! My children’s grandmother is Swedish. We were fortunate to stay in the family’s lakeside summer cottage for a few summers when my kids were younger. I still remember how it felt to round the corner and see the lake for the first time, it took my breath away, still does, every time!

If you like kanelbullens dag you should visit Göteborg and go find cafè husaren. Order a Hagabulle. Bring your family and share just one bun - you will likely all leave full!
Dear Jennifer. Thanks for another lovely video. You are an excellent videographer and your voice is very soothing, I felt transported to Sweden and enjoyed the weather and the landscape with you. I am fascinated by your wood burning stove. How often do you use it for cooking or heating? How early in the morning do you light it?
So glad you enjoyed it Francisco. There is a wood burning stove in the sitting room, which is for keeping warm, but we haven’t been able to get the oven stove to stay lit yet, so no oven for the moment.
I have Swedish heritage, as well as Norwegian. My favorite part of your video is when you are walking through the water, stating that your grandmother grew up there. It was timeless...like a walk through a cemetary. Just breathtaking. (I'm measuring my life!) And by the way...how was that blueberry??
I first saw one of your Spoken Word videos which I really enjoy. Thennnn I saw the Sweden ones and just love them. The decision to buy the cabin was a great one. Till I saw this one, I didn't know you had a connection to Sweden, but even if you didn't it is such a great place to ground yourself. We just had our Thanksgiving here in Canada and I was wondering if you have a video on Giving Thanks.
So glad you enjoy the spoken word videos Mary. I’ve got something a little bit different coming in the next couple of weeks, so look out for that. At the moment, I don’t have a video on giving thanks, partly because we don’t have any holidays which are about giving thanks (other than Remembrance Day, which is giving thanks in a different way)
Don’t know how long you plan to stay in Sweden but I highly recommend getting some merino wool underställ, from like kari traa or other brands (I know kari traa is in Sweden). You can normally get these from stadium etc, it will keep you warm and cozy :)
Now i hope for your own Psykic helth stay here in Sweden and awoid the lockdown Back home in UK it must be Verry frustrating to stay in That bad lockdown.
I tried to look online, but I really couldn’t work it out, I also some saw some other type of berries which were more yellow and in groups, but I didn’t know what those were either! Hopefully by the end of next summer, I will know a lot more!
There’s so much wildlife. I’m not into fishing so much myself, but I think it’s easy enough to get permission, if you need it. If anyone knows different, please comment below
@@JenniferCarterWriter oh how cool! Very glad you don’t have to worry about bears and wolves! Thank you for replying! Your little piece of heaven looks very peaceful and serene.
@@JenniferCarterWriter I live close to Mora, the county ( landskap) of Dalarna. For fishing both lokals, and turist first need "fiskekort" that is a lokal fee. For one day, one week or one year ( a year cost about 500 SEK). Then you are allowed to catch wild fish for that lokal area. In addition there can be " put and take lakes" with planted fish, where there is a day fee ( dagkort ) of about 100 SEK. As a fisherman, you are responsible for knowing the geograhical area you are on, and to pay. And if you cross over to another Lokal " (fiske vårds område)" area. For streem fishing, there are addeded lokal restrictions. Turist office or lokal " (fiskevårds område) " have the information. Thank you Jennifer, for showing Sweden in such beautiful, way. And thank you, for coming here. And Yes, it was lingon. The lingon berry os white yellow, before they go red. The month of July was very cold this year, so maybe some of them where little babies ?? It´s possible to pick them from august, but most common september, and until the snow come. They are bitter, and need sugar if you make " sylt". If you make " saft" they can have some lemon to take the bitter of. Good luck next time !! The berries are free to pick, according to " allemans lagen ". The law for every body, to use nature.
Love your videos! One small suggestion, just my opinion, but maybe consider getting rid of the music. I don't think it really adds much and the sound of the environment would be so nice to hear.
Thanks Jonathan - That sounds like a good idea when I’m filming on my own, but when is the family there, there’s almost always conversation in the background! But yes, I will certainly try and work towards that, it’s a really good suggestion

So so beautiful! 😍
Wonderful
I would love to hear how about you narrowed down your searches when it comes to select an area in Sweden 👍
My main criteria was that it was less than 2 hours from an airport!
If you like kanelbullens dag you should visit Göteborg and go find cafè husaren. Order a Hagabulle. Bring your family and share just one bun - you will likely all leave full!
Thank you for sharing
Dear Jennifer. Thanks for another lovely video. You are an excellent videographer and your voice is very soothing, I felt transported to Sweden and enjoyed the weather and the landscape with you. I am fascinated by your wood burning stove. How often do you use it for cooking or heating? How early in the morning do you light it?
So glad you enjoyed it Francisco. There is a wood burning stove in the sitting room, which is for keeping warm, but we haven’t been able to get the oven stove to stay lit yet, so no oven for the moment.
Such a lovely video. Bless you
Sweet!
Beautiful !!! I love your videos tfs 🎃🍃🎃🍂🎃🍁🎃🌵🌞🎃🍃🎃🍂🎃🍁🎃🌵🌞🎃🍃🎃🍂🎃🍁🎃🌵🌞

Brilliant 👏👏👏👍
Thanks you my friend 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💗😘❤️😘💕💗😘😘💕💗😘😘💕💗
Just magnificent xx
very cool!!!! wow Jenny
I have Swedish heritage, as well as Norwegian. My favorite part of your video is when you are walking through the water, stating that your grandmother grew up there. It was timeless...like a walk through a cemetary. Just breathtaking. (I'm measuring my life!) And by the way...how was that blueberry??
What a wonderful heritage to have. The blueberry was very special
Wild blueberries are much tastier and contain healthier nutrients.
No matter the weather we just need to wrap up & embrace it🍁🍂🌹💌🤗
Definitely - it's snowing today and by wearing a few layers, I've been able to get out and enjoy it!
Great idea 💡, thanks, I’ll take a look at kari traa!
Now i hope for your own Psykic helth stay here in Sweden and awoid the lockdown Back home in UK it must be Verry frustrating to stay in That bad lockdown.
Jennifer you are amazing ❣️
Hi! So inspirerad to see my bestigit country from your perspective. My I ask were your cottage and your favourite see are! 🍁
It’s so beautiful B L! My cottage is about a two hour drive east of Göteborg - this lake is special to me because it holds so many precious memories!
Hi from Turkey.
You can not deny ourCreator when so Overwhelmingly confronted with His handiwork
The lingonberries you saw could actually be Mjölon or Mjölbär in Swedish , I think they are called Bearberries in English.
I tried to look online, but I really couldn’t work it out, I also some saw some other type of berries which were more yellow and in groups, but I didn’t know what those were either! Hopefully by the end of next summer, I will know a lot more!
Ask any neighbor and they will help you to recognize lingon. It looked very much like lingon in your video.
Good idea Jens - I was up near Stockholm when I came across these - and no-one in sight to ask.
R U spending the winter?
Very cool - if only there was a diary of the daily routine
Very pretty scenery! What kind of wildlife do you have in Sweden? And are you allowed to fish in the lakes there?
There’s so much wildlife. I’m not into fishing so much myself, but I think it’s easy enough to get permission, if you need it. If anyone knows different, please comment below
@@JenniferCarterWriter Thank you!! Was just curious as to if it was allowed. So you have bears and wild big cats like mountain lions?
I don’t think there are bears or wolverines this far south, but there are beavers and elk. Apparently near Stockholm there are lynx too
@@JenniferCarterWriter oh how cool!
Har de inte rinnande vatten i Alingsås? 😱😁
No running water in the cottage, it’s a long way from the town … but fibre internet is on the way!
@@JenniferCarterWriter yay!!! 👏👏
A little bit closer to heaven, that part of the world❤️
What town in Sweden did you buy your cottage?
It’s a couple of hours drive from Göteborg and it’s in a small village
Love your videos! One small suggestion, just my opinion, but maybe consider getting rid of the music. I don't think it really adds much and the sound of the environment would be so nice to hear.
Thanks Jonathan - That sounds like a good idea when I’m filming on my own, but when is the family there, there’s almost always conversation in the background! But yes, I will certainly try and work towards that, it’s a really good suggestion
@@JenniferCarterWriter I enjoy the music!
