It's actually a common concept in many sports. If you're interested in this concept more in depth, you can read the book the Inner game of tennis. But you're basically paying attention to things like: "how balanced do I feel throughout the shot", "where is the power in my shot coming from", "does my shot miss left/right/short/long?", "what was my body doing when I missed it that way", "did my fingers stay in contact with the ball as long as they could", "did the ball have backspin", "how did I pick up the ball before shooting it". But the goal is that rather than judging yourself for either doing something right or wrong, you simply observe. And then your subconscious mind will automatically make observations and start correcting things
