At this point in the summer, if you want or need a few more tomato plants, I would snip off a 12" or so sucker and either put it in water, or maybe even better, just stick it all the way to the bottom of a decent sized pot, and let it root or 7-10 days. Then pop it in and you have a decent sized tomato plant. Obviously only take suckers from healthy plants.

Monday I got a late start, and Tuesday I took my mother to lunch, so I didn't get everything accomplished that I wanted to, but I did manage to pick up a load of compost to add to the compost I removed from my compost bin. Fall planting will be done in raised beds 1,2, and five. Raised beds 1 and 2 are ready for sowing seeds. Raised bed 5 has been cleared out, and needs to be topped with a layer of compost. I've been covering them with a layer of chopped leaves, then topping them with compost, building layers. The worm population soi great with some large wigglers. I have seed starts planted with National Pickling cucumbers, Late Nagasaki Cabbage, and Hilton Cabbage. Tomorrows goal is to top raised bed five, and sow seeds for Danvers, Purple Top Turnips, Navone Gold Rutabagas, and Tokinashi Turnips. I might sneak in some cantaloupe seeds where I removed a Sweet Dumpling Squash. I have about 100 days, give or take, until frost. My Jimmy Nardello, Hungarian Yellow Wax, and Lipstick peppers have been super producers. The Hungarian Yellow Wax will be rep[lacing the Sweet Banana pepper in future gardens. I mislabeled my Cubanelle as Corona di Toro, so no Cubanelles this year. Overall, all of my pepper plants are doing great! I got a late start, so have only recently started harvesting-ust in time, I am on the last bag of diced peppers from last year.

Thanks for the great video. You mentioned in passing that it's too hot to start planting winter crops. But when is a good time? If we wait until it's cool enough, they may not have time to reach near maturity before it gets too cold and the days get too short. If we start sooner, it will be too hot and they will bolt or not grow at all. Is the only solution to start everything indoors in an air-conditioned room with grow lights and transplant in the fall?
