I just went through an intense declutter and hired a friend/clearing companion to help. We did almost everything you suggested! I had a plan and a goal that I discussed with her beforehand. We set aside two hours every day for five days in a row. She took away donations at the end of each day. That gave me a little space to think about what we had done that day but no chance to pull out something from a donation box. A few times I pulled out something/s I had thought I wanted to keep but went in the next day's donation box instead! She was a great help for sure. We even set up a Tweak/Reassess Day two weeks afterwards to see how things were working and to clean up a few more areas. It also occurred to me in watching this video that I could use some of the same guidelines as I continue to declutter on my own in order to make objective decisions. Thanks for your inspiration!

I learned that someone needs to want to declutter before any of the other helps and aids will work. My youngest daughter never said a thing to me about my excessive clutter, but when I announced that enough is enough, she jumped in with both feet. She employed many of your recommendations to help me and the first pass went really fast - getting rid of 50% of my stuff in about 2 weeks. She also helped with the second pass when I was getting ready to move to my new home about a year later. Three years later and I continue to declutter on my own. Now, if I can only get my Mom to let me help her declutter.

I would love to help some of my friends declutter, but they don’t want to declutter 😂. They just love to have so much stuff in their home or even rent several spaces to store all their items. But your ideas are great. You do it in a very positive way 😊.

This is such a great video Mia!
Perhaps label it "25 ways to help someone ELSE declutter".
I didn't expect so many suggestions, just the usual "lead by example and they will come around." This was way more in depth than I expected.

This was such a great topic! Realistically, it could help people who are decluttering for themselves too.

Be their “ exit strategy” , so they dont have to worry about which charity shop you are bringing their stuff to.
