IMO it should definitely not be Saruman because if it was then your telling me Gandalf knew he was already bad before but forgot by the fellowship
Maybe Saruman will be introduced in the next season or so, helping Gandalf defeat the Dark Wizard (aka blue wizark gone bad) therefor starting this relation of trust and common interest with Gandalf

I think they canonized the videogame version of Celebrimbor, Sauron sliced his finger on the spear leaving his blood, after just teasing his blood magic to him, which is what the show is telling us about the 9 rings made using his blood that leads to the wraith form

Why did the orcs turn their coats? They wanted peace, the same as Adar. That was so stupid or at least unexplained.
I assume Adar was meant to be either Morwë or Nurwë, one of the original leaders of the Avari elves who refused the call to Valinor.
The numeronians acting like colonisers to the Southerners is what would drive them back to sauron again i fear.
Numenoreans should have been a major Settler-Colonialist superpower dominating and abusing the lesser men of Middle Earth for well over a thousand years before any of the human characters in this show were born.
I'm kind of liking the idea of Gandalf being the one to help the hobbits and their migration to the west and to the shire. But also his connection with Nori Brandyfoot. Which is obviously the great, great, great, great, great grandmother of Frodo Baggins/Brandybuck. Makes it so much warmer to think Gandalf just dropping in on each generation making sure they are always safe.
I like how Sauron killed that traitor like a fly. Adar was my fav character

Y’all don’t know how frustrated I am with this Finale. The stranger being Gandalf, how Adar was killed so recklessly he one of my fav characters, how Arondir survived his encounter with Adar, and the fight between Galadriel and Sauron just wasting minutes with his attempts of manipulating her when he knows she won’t be on his side just pointless.

As game of thrones fanatics, this show is the closest to a comparison, and they completely wiped HOTD season 2. HOTD won season 1 but season 2 was average at best. This show on the other hand was very well done and only got better in season 2
I can't believe how many people think it's going to be Saruman. Like have you read the books or seen the movie? Saruman was a good guy which was the whole reason why his betrayal and fall to Sauron was so tragic. Why would not only Gandalf, but Galadriel and Elrond trust him to take care of Sauron? Why would he become the white wizard? He doesn't look like a white wizard so far. I'm more convinced it's a blue wizard, so they have a clean slate for Gandalf do defeat him.
I loved 7 and 8. The music is tremendous. The visuals are fantastic.

I was so upset at Adar being killed off. I guess he had to be, but (to my horror), for some reason I ended up loving this made-up character!
I'm hoping that Sauron curses Celebrimbor to cause his spirit to never make it to the afterlife. Since he was in Shadow of Mordor, I'm hoping that they can somehow tie it in to the show. Also, I thought the Rings of Power was supposed to be five seasons due to the contract with Tolkien's Estate and family.

Season 2 was amazing. 5 stars from me. They captured Sauron power of deceipt perfectly. He was a supernatural wayward angel in human form and they were able to embody that in this series.
It may have been better than season 1, but even giving it 3 stars would be way too generous.
How can you tell if something is much later in the timeline when so many characters we've met should not be born until almost 2000 years after events which haven't happened yet?
The Stranger being Gandalf is playing up to the casual fan with a Prime Membership instead of being a Blue Wizard. Regardless the season was highly entertaining, fantastic acting, and it’s so cool to be immersed again in the world of Tolkien.
This season was way better then the 1st season.
The dark wizard almost certainly is Saruman, which makes the movies seem odd, because he attacks Gandalf here and shows his true colours, and Gandalf still approaches Saruman for help in the movies as though nothing happened.
Nice theory! Given how much they changed things to do Gandalf on the show. I think it's much more likely they did the same thing for Saruman too.

Idk I haven’t read the book but I’ve seen a lot of people talking about the two blue wizards and I really would’ve liked the stranger and the dark wizard to be them. I’d much rather see more of this world on screen

The showrunner's revealed they decided to make him gandalf by the season 1 finale. That's why there were so many gandalf lines from the movies they gave him.

The staff he got is not from Fellowship. The staff he uses in Fellowship was the Staff that was given to him by Radagast.
I would love to hear more opinions on the single tear but I think Sauron sheds a tear when he kills Celebrimbor also because he knows what Celebrimbor was saying to him is true. He is a Morgoth wannabe and will never be as powerful as Morgoth in his prime. I think he was also a little sad that he killed one of the greatest smiths, being a smith himself, having learned a lot from Celebrimbor and also because he probably saw Cemebrimbor as a trophy. A talented smith who was able to create rings of power for him, he just lost his greatest "tool". I love the irony though, Sauron wanted to rule Middle Earth with rings and is then destroyed by just one ring, which Celebrimbor predicts.
I agree with you in thinking it’s Saruman. But here’s the rub: Saruman already revealed to Gandalf that he’s aligned to Sauron. But later in the LOTR timeline, they are back to being friends.
20:52 yeah, Gandalf and Galadriel are 2 characters that would be powerful enough with the Ring of Power to overthrow Sauron and destroy him. But because he poured so much of his malice and evil into it, the ring would corrupt it's wearer and they would become even worse than Sauron.

I don't know Tolkien outside of the LOTR Trilogy (a great MCU precursor); The Hobbit Trilogy had a lesser effect on me. I'm very glad I kept the faith thru S1's slow burn that ROP will return the IP to its original cinematic glory IMO!
You missed the part that Nori found the staff before Gandalf… she is the one who puts it on the ground.
I really liked this season. Going off some impressions online, I think this show is mostly aimed at people like me - those who love the movies and have a passing interest in the Tolkien world, but don't care too much about the accuracies to the lore.
The way I see it is I love stuff from middle earth universe so anything we get for it is enjoyable and exciting to see live we could live in a world where none of it got transferred onto the screen we got lucky there's a fan base behind this type of fantasy not a lot of humans my age watch it so enjoying as much of it while I can still get it😂

I've seen so many people online saying how this show is terrible and garbage, simply because it doesn't stick precisely to the lore and timeline. I understand how that may be annoying as a super-fan, but the performances, cinematography and sheer scale of the show make it second to none in some ways. After a disappointing season 2 for House of the Dragon, this was such a great blast of fantasy for me.

Season 2 was a big improvement over the first one. The writing was more fluid and the characters had more substance in my opinion.

21:20 i do feel it was somewhat implied that the trees she seemed to fall through softened the fall a bit. she didnt fall cleanly through, though it would still require the rings power to actually make it possible.
I'm sorry but I don't understand how the wizards caused any confusion. The first group of people we see the stranger with are the harefoots, the first group we see Gandalf with the hobbits.
The first people we see Saruman with are orcs and evil men, the first people we see the dark wizard with are evil men (also look at his fucking staff)
We know the stranger wasn't radaghast cause he isn't a midget
And we know the blue wizards came to middle earth and travelled together
The only misconception I had, was early in when I thought they were going to fakeout and tell us that there was only one blue wizards, and the other was just his companion.

Disappointing how they've really...like REALLY... sped up the timeline! Gandalf shouldn't be around and the Balrog shouldn't be awakened for quite a while! They've condensed it way to much now! The last 3 episodes have really been bad!!

Everything asides from the Proto-Hobbits and Gandalf has actually been extremely entertaining. It feels like fan fiction, but still feels like Tolkien.
The story is straying so far from book canon, but Im not someone that expects adaptations or renditions to be 1:1 or it's trash. As long as something is entertaining and still feels like it's a part of it's counterparts, ill be happy.
With that said, Season Two has actually been good, with some eyerolling aspects. The Gandalf and Proto-Hobbit stories almost ruin the flow of the show. As soon as you get excited and into the story they tell, it almost gets derailed with something preposterous.

I still love all the Dwarves the most. I keep wondering where they are all in Lord of the Rings? Did they move from that mountain? Or did they all die?
I was thinking the ending they were in the place that would become Rivendell.
I will be really upset if the Dark Wizard is Saruman. Saruman is supposed to be good (and turn to the evil side much, much later). I'm sorry but it makes no sense, although it might be Saruman because he looks exactly like him (hair and so on). One thing though, Saruman's staff is different in LOTR, so I still hope it's not him. Gandalf's staff is the same one.
I'm still a bit disappointed the man fallen from the stars is Gandalf and not an older being / wizard, considering this is like 5,000 years before LOTR.

100% the dark whiz is saruman. the show makers want the excitement of meeting familiar characters earlier in their lives. an entire new cast of characters would be too risky. this is a money maker more than a series, of course. we have to expect them to make something that appeals to LoTR fans, Hobbit fans, but not so much fans of the lore in its entirety, as that is where the group gets much smaller. they are really moving fast and adding things not on the page, and yeah i was seeing jon snow when Adar was killed by his kids. anyway...it's a mix of good and bad. hey fellas at RoP: bring Tom Bombadil back, in his forest, and let him be merry. and thanks for having him in and letting him sing.

I personally think the dark wizard is just one of the blue wizards. If Saruman was evil this early on, it would be a massive change to the cannon. Saruman didn't become corrupted until way later in the timeline. None of the other wizards would of trusted Saruman if he was already evil centuries before the events of Lord Of The Rings. After all Tolkien said the blue Wizard failed in their mission and started cults of magic.
Tolkien went back and forth on the Blue Wizards. Sometimes he said he thought they failed and started cults, but sometimes he said their efforts in the far east kept Sauron's attentions divided and may have played a crucial role in his downfall.
My personal headcanon is that the Blue Wizards were sent primarily as missionaries to the Orcs, and that one of them might have been playing a role more like that of Adar leading some Orcs in the far east to oppose Sauron and preventing him from marshalling his full forces against the Men of the West.

isildur becomes king of Arnor not Anarion he dies at the siege of Bara Du his son Menendil becomes king of Gondor before that Isildir became the high king of both realms after Elendil since he was the oldest of the sons but after several years after the war of the last alliance Isildur left Gondor to take up the high kingship in the north and left his nephew king f Gondor but he didn't make it to the northern kingdom so Vlindil his last heir took the throne of Arnor but did not become high king wich left minendil son of Anarion and his heirs to rule Gondor as an independent kingdom until Arogorn reunited the two kingdoms.

I have been waiting all day for your breakdown. The Gandalf reveal was very disappointing, in my opinion. I was definitely on the team of the wizards being the blue wizards. The timeline is all out of order with this. The books are everything to me, and this season was going so well until this. I did like how Sauron was portrayed. To me him and Calabrimbor were the highlights of season 2. We should see Sauron go to Numanor and build the temple to Morgoth in season 3, but time will tell. I just couldn't wait to hear your opinion.

Absolutely!! The time frame is all off with the wizards being Gandolf and Sarumon. Any followers of true Tolkien lore should be disappointed by this finale. The season was decent, but the finale threw a huge wrench into everything.
