When Moffat is good, he's very, very good. When you realise he's lashing out against military characters throughout this series due to his guilt and then he has to go inside a dalek to heal it, it's great.
Bro, that's kinda fucked up. Not only is she ABSOLUTELY not the chick from Game of Thrones and they look nothing alike (um...ok, honest mistake...I guess...), but you never checked after mentioning it multiple times (which is less okay), you then question how they could be related? Um... his bro/sis had a child with a black woman/man? Pretty simple. What the actual fuck.
I really wish they kept this version of 12, his dynamic with Clara was great "she cares, so I don't have to" is the kind of stuff id of loved to see more of
As a mixed race woman of white Irish decent who always gets mistaken for the one other mixed race girl in my uni course... I feel personally attacked Loving your other videos tho 🤦🏽♀️😂
I'm white English of Irish-Welsh descent and I have mixed race (Guyanan) Welsh relatives, so the "how can they be related" comment left me thinking "wtf are you talking about?"
So you didn't notice this is just a rewrite of "DALEK" from 9 years ago? Like the hiding the fact it's a Dalek at the beginning, having the Dalek act less evil at first, and then the whole "the Doctor would make a good Dalek" thing? It's feels far too much like a rip off to me. Also, dude a white guy having a mixed race niece isn't impossible, even if you doubt it's by blood it could be by law, or adoption, or literally anything. Kinda sounded racist there honestly (especially when you already mixed up two black women earlier in the review).
9:55 He brings up that very episode and derides this one on it's similarities. His complaint about the whole "uncle/ niece" relationship was only half driven by their race, which I agree with you, was a poorly thought out complaint. He also mentions (at 11:40) that nothing in their interactions prior to that reveal hinted at any familial ties and the uncle even showed more emotions towards the death of his nephew than the niece at any point before his death.
@@Befuddled_Ostrich Yes he mentions that one similarity but really the whole plot structure seems ripped from "DALEK". When I saw this episode it felt so hollow because if the "You'd make a good Dalek" thing is still just as relevant to the Doctor now as it was then then the show is basically saying he hasn't changed in all these years, which is both ridiculous and disappointing.
About the relation bit... I'm white Scandinavian. Like pale, pale white, with blood tracing back to the Viking age. My nieces are British Afro-Caribbean without a hint of white. How does that work? Marriage! There's more than one way to become someone's uncle, you don't have to be related by blood. Also, as so many has pointed out, that's not the girl from Game of Thrones. It's Jessica from Misfits. I'll give it a pass, since that show only came out a few months before this, but she also played Cleopatra and Eartha Kitt in Psychobitches. She's sorta big in the UK, surprised a Scottish person never heard of her....
You might want to edit this vid to fix the mistake of thinking Michael Smiley and Zawe Ashton are game of thrones actors given the way it looks, especially with Zawe, and maybe next time wiki that stuff. Assuming it was an accident.
I've watched quite a few of your reviews and really enjoy your critisism and the effort and time you clearly put into editing them, however some of these reveiws (seemingly the more negative ones from what i can glean from your descriptions in other reviews) have been taken down, is it at all possible to upload these elsewhere? if not thats fine i just really enjoy your content!! keep it up buddy!!
why is everyone dalek story the exact same thing? it always happens with a bunch of soldiers attacking the Daleks but all their weapons are useless and her decimated. JUST RUN! YOUR WEAPONS DONT WORK - ITS A SUICIDE MISSION
13:20 He needs a class in VFX if he thinks that close-up shot of the model Dalek's CGI because "a giant model Dalek would take too much of the budget." :)
The daleks want to go inside the base Because they are creatures that can only feel hatred So they just want to kill anybody who is against the daleks Even if it is not really necessary Also don't think that they think that rusty is special I just think they wanted to rescue him because he is a dalek Also in Asylum of the daleks they thought that hatred was beautiful
Later on we see that Daleks do not die. They CAN'T die. They will just crawl over to a new armour and continue fighting. So in this episode, what is the blue goo coming out of the destroyed armours? What happened to the Daleks inside the destroyed armours? And in the future episode Witch's Familiar, what happened to the Dalek inside the armour Missy blew up to fit Clara inside? All three were written by Moffat. Did he just forget his own continuity?
The daleks not shooting for however many seconds was literally because they're cocky, stupid killing machines. They know they have the power to kill all the humans, they're just toying with them.
Watching this 8 years later, Still can never beat silence in the library, or Blink. Kinda still like the Unicorn and the Wasp and Midnight. Though I like pretty much like anything from the first two re-incarnations and first half of Mr. bowties'.
I've never watched Game of Thrones but i'm pretty sure the girl in this episode isn't in it, because she's Zod in Fresh Meat and my friends who watch both Fresh Meat and GoT would've told me
Mate. It's entirely possible that he's her uncle? Hell. It's an even closer relation but I have a tan, and my dad is incredibly pasty, and a severe French accent. Did you ever even consider he could have married her aunt, Harry? Your reviews are good, but when you confuse a mixed race character with one who's on Game of Thrones, just because they have a similar complexion (honestly they don't even look that much alike), it not only seems like you're picking at straws, but it also makes you, and not the show, sound like the racist
really not a fan of how the direction handles Pink's obvious internalized grief of his time serving, during that class scene after the kid asks the question of "did you kill anyone who wasn't a soldier" the cuts to Pink's teary-eyed face is a little too much when he, in the scene, was already showing a realistic affect this comment had on him, and the directing could've really emphasized that something happened that was unforgettable for him during the war without needed to over-emphasize it, allowing the viewer to question what happened which makes him more of an interesting character
Harry's Moving Castle No problem, thanks for answering! I just found your channel and I'm loving your videos, so thanks for all the great content too! :)
- The doctor is asked to help with something before it is revealed to be a Dalek - Sympathetic Dalek - Dalek says the Doctor is a good Dalek - Dalek at some point referred to as being "rusty" - Introduces new recurring character who is a possible love interest for the companion
If you get the chance will you go back and cynically review some old Matt Smith episodes? I feel you would hold him to account perfectly for the stupidity, unnecessary chin touching and stupid lispy speech impediment he adds in twice a sentence.
Queen of Green I have a lot of content currently in the works but I don't think I will. They are no longer relevant and the way youtube works is the newer content you critique the better. The reason why my deep breath review has so many views is that it was uploaded very quickly after it's release, my other uploads are rather late. I might do a review of some of my favourite episodes like Aliens of London/World war 3, but only when I need to explain to a select group of idiots what doctor who represents and why it is no longer enjoyable.
***** That makes sense, look forward to seeing your Series 9 reviews when the series is aired, I think you've got every episode so far spot on, I think I'm going to start permanently referring to Strax, Jenny and Vastra as the forgettable trio ;)
That rating is too high, considering this episode introduces the gigantic narrative problem that Ruins capaldi's run as the doctor. The doctor doesn't care. He no longer gives a shit about human emotions and no longer makes an effort to understand them. She's my carer is the introduction of the worst elements of capaldi's who, which is cemented in:"Top layer, if you want to say a few words".

There were a lot of similarities between Dalek and Into The Dalek in my opinion
- The doctor is asked to help with something before it is revealed to be a Dalek
- Sympathetic Dalek
- Dalek says the Doctor is a good Dalek
- Dalek at some point referred to as being "rusty"
- Introduces new recurring character who is a possible love interest for the companion
gotta say, birds is an odd choice of backing music for a doctor who review
