This was a great video! For me I didn’t have to drain the radiator. Only because I just had my water pump and belt replaced a few months ago. I kept the coolant cap on and I took the side clip off first then the back and tilted the tank backwards while pulling the hose off so the tank didn’t leak and replaced it no problem. But my previous coolant tank was filthy and had some particles in the coolant in self so I just poured fresh coolant and it worked like a charm
Hello, I have a question, after car gets to operating temperature, my cooland tank is completely empty.. when I loosen the cap of the tank, it fills back up to max level, is this normal?
Hello, thanks for your video, I learned a lot, but I have a question, after changing the coolant, there will be air left in a certain part of the pipe, where is the valve to discharge the air, I saw some cars have a bleed valve next to the expansion tank, but I can't find it on the Focus car, do you know where it is or how to solve the problem of air being trapped in the pipe? I think this is very important, thank you
Oh interesting. I purchased a no-spill funnel kit because I assumed that it was needed, but I gather from this video that the reservoir in a Ford Focus is basically a no-spill funnel?
I used radweld in my coolant, apparently its messed up my system (which is apparent with the engine temp needle shooting up and going down) best way to resolve this? would i be able to flush this out?
After letting the engine cool, should I add antifreeze to the max line or just leave the level between min and max? In other words, should the antifreeze ever exceed the max line when at normal operating temperature? Or should the level be at max at normal operating temperature?
Im having issues with my ford focus 2013. The coolant system seems to empty out and the needle reaches nearly to max hot temperature. I managed to put water in just to get me home, once home the water comes out from underneath. Coolants empty. Whats wrong please? What do I do?
You have a coolant leak. Look around the engine and radiator, and try to identify the source of the leak. Once identified, you can work out the best way to rectify the problem.
@@HaynesManuals same thing with me, my reservoir has a leak and my gauge was at max hot temperature so I poured coolant directly into the radiator but its still at max hot temp. Any thoughts
I bought my focus 2014 plate 1.0 eco boost 125 back in December and I noticed the same fault except my needle didn’t reach max but I think this would happen if your coolant emptied completely,my problem was a crack in the coolant white plastic tank underneath was hard to spot at first but noticed the spillage on my engine hope this helps
Hello so I have 2013 ford focus. I bought Prestones 50/50 all vehicles, can I use that? Do I have to drain it or can I put it in how it is? Also the cap is messing , should I buy another before I pour it in
I had to rent a scanner at autozone to restart the computer. And the problem was solved . Please tell that to your followers so they can save money en time. It took me a few days to fix that problem, keep doing your videos , it helps a lot
@@nightrunk I think that there are no bleeder points. The engine has two return pipes . First goes from the radiator and second from thermostat housing on side of the engine above transmission. I mean for 1.0 ecoboost. Mayby I am wrong, dont know.
anyone know why coolant is leaking from the middle of my car? I dont understand why its running back there? same model as this, there appears to be coolant hoes that run back to the middle
There are two coolant hoses from the engine compartment bulkhead to the heater matrix. Is your vehicle air conditioned? The liquid underneath could be water from the evaporator drain hose (nothing to worry about).
You don't tell us that there's a high probability when you drain a radiator on a focus or a mondeo the heater matrix in the car will get an air lock and you will get cold air.why not explain how to cure that.its not this simple.
🤣 I bought the online manual for Ford Focus 2011 to 2014 for an in-depth look on how to change the coolant on my 1.6 tdci, and now I know how to do it, on a RENAULT. I whish this was a joke but the video in the PAID online manual for Ford Focus 2011 to 2014 is done on a RENAULT in the servicing and maintenance for the diesel models!!! Also the pictures are crap and not helpful I learned more by watching RUclips videos.
Coolant??? So what is antifreeze then??? My mechanic just told me to pour normal water into that big tank thing. Why so fckin complicated. I mean. All the different TERMS used ffs
Coolant is the mixture of water and antifreeze. Without antifreeze in the coolant there would be no protection from corrosion, or freezing temperatures.
Place baby up to your right or left shoulder and gently tap on the babies back until an audible burp can be heard. But I don't know what that has to do with working on cars.?
Thanks for your comment. Our manuals are intended to be used by the average DIY'er, who it is assumed, will not have access to compressed air. As I'm sure you are aware, without this access it is extremely difficult to remove the coolant from the heater matrix circuit. As long as the coolant is being replaced as part of a routine service, there will be minimal impact on the strength of the coolant by leaving the old solution in the matrix.
@@HaynesManualsThank for your reply, im not trying to be rude and step in your toes im trying to help and enhance options, but is doable and im going to explain, Is 2 ways to do a complete flush of the whole system without compressor but takes time because the car need to be in heat operating temperature (open thermostat) and cool down between flushes. The process consist in do multiple flushes at least 3, run the engine to operating temperature with the heater blowing in max heat, this going to flush the heater core as well, the second way is for people who dont have access to enough coolant of no money for pay for 3 flushes of coolant, in this case your refills between flushes can be done with distilled water from a grocery store, no other water, (destiled water is not corrosive and is part of the 50/50 coolant mixture) important is in the in the last refill you fill it up with the 50/50 coolant, dont pour concentrated fluid in the system, concentrated coolant need to be diluted with 50% coolant and 50% distilled water and dont leave the car with distilled water, it dont performs well as coolant and going to freeze in cold temperatures destroying your engine.
al vi the proper way would be follow those steps. But refill with distilled water. Drain again. Distilled water again. Drain again. Then coolant? Is the right?

U must mixt distiled water with antifreeze half by half and add all at once🙂
Ideally, de-ionised water is preferred, but I think that VW are the only manufacturers that insist.
You could always use 50/50 premix too.
that thing looks brand new
I used radweld in my coolant, apparently its messed up my system (which is apparent with the engine temp needle shooting up and going down) best way to resolve this? would i be able to flush this out?
With enough water pressure, flushing should remove the Radweld
What size is the drain hose used in this application?
6 mm internal diameter hose should be OK
have a 2015 ford when iturn the coolant cape just get tighter, yes im turnning it the clockwise
I can't get my cap off of my 2013 ford escape reservoir. Do u know how to get it off. It tightens both ways I turn it.
I had this issue too first time I tried it. You just gotta keep going eventually it will give.
Denise Coffey turn it anti-clock wise keeping slight positive pressure until it comes loose completely. It might get a bit tight but keep going!!
Before u rev the engine to 2500rpm should u just cover the coolant tank opening or should u tighten the lid back onto it?
After the initial filling, cover the tank opening before revving the engine to 2500 rpm

Make your mind up which colour coolant your adding, first is orange, then yellow, then orange, then yellow again

how much liquid did you need for the change?

Πόσα λίτρα νερό και ψυκτικό στα fort focus ecoboost 2014
Very lame question I have...my coolant is completely empty or near it..
Could I just add the coolant and call it good?
Must be reason why the level dropped. Really ought to check for leaks.
How much coolant is required for this method also is this a full flush or just a partial change?

No, stick with Motorcraft.
Is draining the coolant same even on a 1.6 tdci engine?
Yes, the drain tap is in the same place.
They don't show how to drain the fluid from the engine.
