My 1984XR 500 is an absolute beast. I called the iron pig. The thing is so full of torque it’s ridiculous, Even way up at the top end. gets to 80 miles an hourIn a couple heartbeat. Love that bike

@@murraymachado401 that could be true, the stock 650r was detuned in so many ways to meet emissions as well as run reliably and be a bulletproof bike for those who bought them at the showroom….it was designed and intended really to be run with the full HRC kit and ported head, as well as ignition advance changes etc…
Man, everyone dogs on me for ripping a big bore four stroke from97 but don’t understand that these bikes used to be the most BADASS 4 stroke dirt bike you could buy in the 80s and 90s. They still make this bike today essentially. Don’t see many two strokes being made anymore. Honda refuted the 2 cycle engine design for years……look where it is now…
@@craigbielsky115 yeah you can say that because big bore bikes are readily available and cheap in your country. But here in the Philippines about 10 percent can afford and maintain large displacement bikes.

I ride my xr650r 40 miles every day to college and back. Stars first kick, good gearing, plenty torque, not too heavy, nice sound. After other bikes didn't last, Im happy with the xr.
In the late 90's all I had was an XR 600. I rode it college everyday and rode/raced on the weekends. Had 2 of them and they were rock solid. But then I got a KTM 300 and wondered how I ever rode that big pig.
@@3smoke people that think XRs are good just haven't ridden a good bike, I had an rm250 G in the 80's now that was a good bike. first time I road my xr250r I got it stuck at the bottom of a gully, the motor got hot and I couldn't get any power out of it, I just expected it to do what an MX bike could do but I instead I learned about the limitations of that type of bike, now I just stick to the trails and it's ok.

It's a WRC with two wheels. Mine is one year older than that one. Gas and tires it's what I feed her. Starts at first kick everytime. Bike for life.
