- Kelly Slater’s long career appears to be ending after the 52-year-old - widely acknowledged as the greatest surfer - missed the World Surf League’s mid-season cut at Margaret River. Missing the cut means he has not qualified for the rest of the 2024 Championship Tour, as well as the start of next year's. The 11-time WSL champion was holding back tears as he said: "Everything comes to an end. If you don't adapt, you don't survive."

"Hints at retirement"? He flat out said he's done. There is no "hint" here, just a flat out statement. Stay in your lane. This is not your lane.
He stayed way to long ...I get it it's hard to call it a day.. but all athletes have a shelf life It's just the reality
You dont think about things from more than one angle very often do you?
