At one point Brooke gave her blessing to ridge and Taylor then took it back. So deep down ridge wanted Brooke. Brooke stopped the wedding. Ridge did not object.

Not true at all. Brooke was married to Eric when Ridge married Taylor. He didn't marry Brooke legally until 15 yrs later.
