Good video. I had to do this to install a keyless entry system. There were 2 more screws under the glove box to take out also. Overall it was more work than expected. You have to have the right socket wrench to get that 10mm bolt that is hiding in there.
Anyway you can show how to fix that button that opens the glove compartment idk if there is a spring but my glove box button just slips off I think there is a clip broken
Thanks dude. Gonna try to fix my sagging glovebox tomorrow, and I know I always break little clips because I can be a bit impatient... Saved me right there :p
Jovanne Santos Sorry, I didn't really. And there seem to be different causes for it for everyone :/ For me, the inside and outside of the actual glovebox door are coming apart, and the pin on the inside of the door that hooks into the "lock" was therefore not in the right place. I tried glueing them back together which made it less obvious... Imho, just take it apart(it's not that hard), replace the cabin filter while you're in there(it's somewhere at the back, it's a bitch to do unless you take the glovebox out, and usually previous owners don't do it even though it should be replaced every year. Mine was full of leafs when i replaced it, car smelled way better inside afterwards), and then look at fixing the door by finding out what's actually causing it on yours. I think one other reason why it starts sagging over the years is because there's a pin with a spring that pushes into the door to operate the light inside the glovebox(just like on a fridge door). Also just tightening some screws will already help. I've also seen people bend the pin on the inside of the door, but I was too afraid to break it. Good luck! :)
thanks for showing us. if i were to just follow the workshop manual that i have, i would just pull out after removing the Phillips, and probably break the thing without removing the bolt

Perfect thanks a bunch. I just about pryed the top piece you were talking about which would have broke it. But being a marine Tech and knowing theres always sneaky ways to remove panels, I'm very happy you showed this. as its my Sons car i let him finish the job. We are getting back there to install new security system. Thanks Again.
That was very helpful, I'm trying to remove the glove box but I couldn't because of that 10mm bolt, now I think I'm gonna do it. Do you know how to adjust the clutch for the e36 1998?
The top part does not come out like that. It gets caught in the arms that move the vents shut. Just snapped those on both sides by following this video.
If you are doing this, don't remove the vent panel. It will come out with the glove box. Removing the vent panel unnecessarily is the #1 cause of a sagging glove box.
wires were cut because bmw was being parted out. we typically sell wire connector with parts. We con't recommend cutting wires if you are replacing parts

Mythbuster were you successful in fixing the sagging glove box? there's not much information on youtube about it, I'm wondering if its a easy fix.

thank you, big help!
Hey! What kind of a screwdriver/tool did you use to do the two screws by the box hinges? Can't fit anything in that tiny space.
That was very helpful, I'm trying to remove the glove box but I couldn't because of that 10mm bolt, now I think I'm gonna do it. Do you know how to adjust the clutch for the e36 1998?
will this work with a 525i
Is it possible to change only this trim above the glove box ? ? ?
Most of the glove box trims are removable so you should be able to replace it.
Thnak you :)
Thanks

Glove box sag!!!
They do sag. You can try adding industrial glue but it won't work. You need to find a good replacement
way would you cut out the wires when you can Just Remove with out cutting THEM?? OK!. not the best Advice here for cutting the wires
wires were cut because bmw was being parted out. we typically sell wire connector with parts. We con't recommend cutting wires if you are replacing parts
