Incredible song from the Piece of Mind album which is my favorite. All the songs were great. Love “Die with Your Boots On” and “Sun and Steel”. This is the first song played in the 1983 Piece of Mind Tour. Killer drum part! Thanks for the reaction!
Piece ofmind made me a hardcore maiden fam over 30 years ago... I remember my cheap ass maroon knockoff walkman my shitty orange foam headphones held together with clear tape and listening to it time and time again... Im 45 and still do. Btwdude to tame a land i am a crazy ass geek fpre dune andmaiden do thats just the tits
I hope o dont sound like an old white man... Though i am (about to be a grandpa) but i love watching these videos and seeing these guys fall in love with my favorite band. Check out prisoner to tame a land and phamtom of the opera (off live after death) you will dig it. For extra credit and ive been harassing every react guy chech out reach out its a brilliant maiden b side with guitarist adriam smith just killing it on lead vocals. Its a great song
@@dominickpfefferkorn4752, same! My friend played this album for me in '83 and I never heard anything like it before! Maiden has been my favorite band ever since then!
The drummer is Nicko McBrain, in spite of being older than Lars Ulrich, drummer of metallica, he continues playing equal or better than at that time in 1983.
I say it once and a thousand times, Nicko is a fucking master on the drums, period. And in fact before I met Iron Maiden I was a Metallica fan and I keep listening to them, but until they came to the black album. From then on, it does not exist anymore for me. It is my point of view as a guitarist and as a lover of good heavy metal.
Billy, ya need to go see them live. They are going on tour here in the States. Don't be "Crazy" and miss then live. LOL. And BTY. Maiden's 7th Son of a 7th Son, Rime of The Ancient Mariner and Infinite Dreams.
BILLY I SEEN THEM FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 1984 I WAS 15 YRS.OLD THE CONCERT WAS SO AWESOME WE WENT BACK THE NEXT NIGHT AND BOUGHT SCALPER TICKETS.IM STILL A BIG FAN AND I JUST TURNED 51 JULY, 25TH...ENJOY.AND UP THE IRONS..
If I remember right this was also the first track that Nicko recorded. If I remember right in an interview he mentioned that and how brutal it was, but he wanted to prove to the fans that "he's got this"...
Welcome to the Maiden family I joined in 2017. Listened to every I got a shirt and saw them live, there one of the reasons for my rock and guitar obsession.
If you want live Maiden you have to check out Blood Brothers, Fear of the Dark, The Clansman, Sign of The Cross, Hallowed Be Thy Name from the legendary Rock In Rio concert :)
They are dope live indeed! Seen em 9 or 10 times. And this song as well as all their others are fantastic live. I love Aces High when played live as one of my faves. I love how animated bruce gets and in to his music. But that song is especially awesome live. And if you want a song with good deep feels, go for Children of the Damned. Nice groove to that one.
You could easily pick ANY song, from any of the seven first Maiden albums and never get disappointed. Seven perfect albums. I don´t see anyone beating them. At least I think it´s not gonna happen any time soon.
Wonderful seeing you getting so into it, Billy. Yeah they've been rocking this quite recently live and I can't understand how they keep in time -especially rushing out those vocals like "The Bavarian alps lay all around seem stare from below...". Then the drums... I think it's a drums and vocals workout most, but everything else adds of course. Like that very bass and drum oriented bit in the middle that they've said is supposed to sound like AA guns shooting at our dudes according to the band. The guitar solos swoop in like they're dipping and diving, just first rate playing and I was just stunned watching this performed live fairly recently. Great vid Billy. PS: I am going to get on to following and supporting my few fave YT's because it's my main TV, main way to unwind and I know how it takes serious work. I just suck at online stuff (need to get it together for my own business too)! But plan to patreon, buy merchandise, and help out however people run their stuff ...as soon as my girlfriend helps me get all the social media sorted out! All the best man. -Owen
Most of their songs are this epic. You could go to a show and probably not hear this song. They have something like 16 albums that are end to end great songs. That's way more material than could be played in a week, let alone a 2 hour show.
Iron Maiden live is just insanity no matter which song they're performing. Check out one of their live performances, maybe "Hallowed Be Thy Name." You won't regret it.
This is one of my favorites. Thanks for reacting to it. I really like your energy and fresh perspective on these songs which I have heard hundreds of times. I have seen Iron Maiden live three times, they are amazing live. So much power and energy. Go see them if you get a chance. Check out Oceans Of Slumber - Winter.
RUclips this song live 2019 . Legacy of the Beast tour . This is a band more than worth seeing ! Their live show is ALWAYS AWESOME ! ! ! ! Seen them multiple times ! Been a DIE HARD fan since 1983 ! I know u don’t actually read this stuff but whatever . MAIDEN ! ! It’s all good .
One of the craziest things vocally about this song is that there is very little space for Bruce to take any breaths between the verse, bridge , and chorus. And he is singing in a very high vocal range the whole time to a very fast beat. They must have wrote that extended instrumental section in the middle just so Bruce could get a good rest for his voice. I don't see how any human could sing this song completely through without the instrumental break.
I like them both equally because they're almost different songs. Of course I'm talking about the live version on A Real Dead One where Bruce changes/leaves out some lyrics.
Billy, you've got to react to Blind Gaurdian Into the Storm. You've got to see what older power metal is like. I'm telling you. It's right up your alley!
I love this time of Iron Maiden, when they were still doing original things with the riffs and progressions. Unfortunately now they have this copyrighted sound where they don't try different stuff. The fire of songs like this and the Di'Anno days is what got me into Maiden. It is like they listened to thrash and said, "Oh boy... Guess we can never compete with these guys", so they adopted the epic style instead. Too bad, cause the fiery kickass energy of the early albums rule.
Iron Maiden related... I would love to see your reaction to "Trumpets of Jericho" by Bruce Dickinson (Iron Maiden's lead vocalist), from his solo album "The Chemical Wedding"
Incredible song from the Piece of Mind album which is my favorite. All the songs were great. Love “Die with Your Boots On” and “Sun and Steel”. This is the first song played in the 1983 Piece of Mind Tour. Killer drum part! Thanks for the reaction!
To Tame A Land, from the same album. A golden gem
Right today I have listened to it 10 consecutive times 😎😎

Nicko Mcbrain plays circles around Lars Ulrich any day, any time
@@sammybeck7794 Lars who ? I really Metallica, but Lars live performances are painful to watch
Gustavo Mesquita back in the day , he actually killed it . Or risked being punched by James .

YES!!! Maiden is a MUST see group in my opinion!!
I've seen them twice! They're playing my hometown this summer! Maiden shows are a religious experience

Iron Maiden “Wasted Years”
Billy you hit the nail on the head. This song just hits you in the face live. Might have been the surprise best song at the concert I saw 2 weeks ago
Caught Somewhere in Time by themselves 🤘🤟🤘🤟🤘🤟🤘🤟🤘🤟🤘🤟🤘🤘🤘🤟🤘🤟🤘🤘
When I heard this song live for the first time I almost broke my neck by headbanging. What a wonderful band.
It is indeed dope live. They are playing this song on the Legacy of the Beast tour, which is coming to the US this summer :D

Seen them play this live last year its amazing go see them live
Iron Maiden - 22 Acacia Avenue
Absolutely! Especially the live version from 1982 Beast Over Hammersmith!
The guitar solo alone is worth it! Killer!
Iron Maiden live is INCREDIBLE. They're all in their 60s now, but, they still have the same energy they always had.
I saw Iron Maiden live in 2011, amazing performers! Super fun show. The poor bastards that opened for them got booed off the stage lol.
Great reaction! This is a very underrated song! Check them out doing this song live at
Ulivev, Sweden. This whole album is Killer(no pun intended)!!!
So true and one of there best songs
Hahaha got your reference right away! For others, the second Iron Maiden album is called, "Killers"!
Come on, you definitely intended the pun. It was a golden opportunity
I saw Iron Maiden in concert during their World Slavery Tour in 1984. And yes, they sound just like this. They totally know how to play.

Listen to the live version in London in 1983. They perform every single song from Piece of Mind extremely well. Look into it
One of the craziest things vocally about this song is that there is very little space for Bruce to take any breaths between the verse, bridge , and chorus. And he is singing in a very high vocal range the whole time to a very fast beat. They must have wrote that extended instrumental section in the middle just so Bruce could get a good rest for his voice.
