Thank you you're so on point.I need to be less defensive, however justified I feel in the moment, I nearly always regret it after I've calmed down.

This is so spot on. I thought of this about a year ago when dealing with a toxic person, except I referred to it as "Feel - Think - React". Most people feel, then react. The trick to appropriate responses is to give yourself space to think before reacting. I struggled with how to do that and here it is, practical tips on how to achieve that. Thanks Bronwyn!

I wish I could like this video more than once! Great advice! I do find that I get most defensive when I am being gaslit - so I’m pretty confident that I found the right channel!!! 😂 Thank you 🙏

Thanks! I joined a big family when I met my partner 25 yrs ago. There are masses of friends that are attached to the family. I feel like I’ve been defending myself to show I’m worthy all that time. I heard a saying by Joyce Mayer “ you can’t be pitiful and powerful at the same time”. I try to remember this but still find myself ruminating over how these people seem to view me. It’s tiring and I wonder where they even get there ideas from sometimes. I never ask them to explain their lives to me! (Falling into victim mode again😂). Thanks for your advice. I have plenty of people to practice this on 😂🤣 and I most certainly will!, much love n respect to you for making your useful videos 😁✌️🙌✌️✨

I am so sorry this is happening to you but I am impressed by your thoughtfulness and self awareness. You are in the perfect environment to learn how to be strong and to practice “don’t explain, don’t complain.” My therapist told me that years ago and I have thought about it and used it since!
