Big E planned this, there is no other explanation. My theory is not only did he have his plate full with all of his various projects to raise 20 sons but he also designed them to perfectly embody various aspects of himself ( Angron was his rage, Fulgrim his desire to strive for perfection, Vulcan his humanity, Rogal his autism, father his sense of justice though it became perverted, etc), if they were all raised together the chance of this happening would lesson greatly as their various personalities would probably have mixed as they took each other's views. Also each son needed to become their own man and prove their own worth without daddy bailing theirs asses out every time there was a challenge ( of course E as usual fucked that royally up in some cases like Morty and Angron, with disasteres results). This subject was always the biggest plot hole I have noticed in primarch lore, and I had no idea father Curze already brought it up, though I should have. AVE DOMINUS NOX! And thanks for the video!
Slight flaw with your logic. When Angron was taken as a slave on Nuceria, he had a psychic ability to ease the pain of others, even those suffering from the Butcher's Nails. What he did was similar to the ability that the Emperor used on Konrad to break his fit of madness upon seeing the Emperor's future. And Angron lost that ability once he received the Butcher's Nails.
@@Brutalyte616 he's a bit of an outlier in what I said but doesn't totally disprove it, who knows what would have happened without the nails or if he could have won his place like most of his brothers
@@josephskiles Well it kind of exemplifies a point. Angron wasn't the Emperor's rage. Instead he was more like the Emperor's empathy and his mercy, a freedom-fighting brother to Corvus and a kind-hearted brother to Vulkan. Konrad wasn't the Emperor's cruelty, he was his sense of justice, which was taken and perverted into the Night Haunter because of the fear and paranoia induced by his visions. The Primarchs had their intended roles, but virtually all of them were beneficent and positive until they were twisted into the worst possible version of themselves by Chaos.
Love the voice storming telling bro keep it up with emperor light content guide u bro. But I have one question after Konad Curze died what happened to his soul? I heard rumors or some other RUclipsr said that Konad Soul is transfer to a soul stone that the Eldar has it.
Thanks man! Its just a theory some people have. That he'll be in a soulstone within the Corona nox. There's never been confirmation one way or the other.
That last segment, the functioning of the universe part just made me get over my fear of dicerolls in tabletop. Also I am reminded by Vulkan's speech of a line from Hellsing: "Integra, there are many immortal monsters who roam this earth. When I look at them I wonder were they created out of a desire for immortality? Many of them desire war, I have seen them roaming the bloodiest of battlefields but in their battle cries I hear a craving; I think they cry out for death." "Nosferatu. The no-life king; his castle, his kingdom, its' people, his loved ones, even his very identity... everything was lost... All that remains is a pale shadow, wandering from battle to battle. I have come to believe Integra, that those frightening immortals are in fact; frail, sobbing children." also "an ancient Terran parenting technique" "telling him he isn't angry, just disappointed" hehehhehehehehehehehehehehehehehe
Decimus clutched the crown. He heard whispers in his mind. Pleas from beyond to not make this come to pass. The dark gods begging for the night haunter to stay where he belongs. But decimus ignores them. The prophet of the night lords looks to the rainy sky,as tears well up in his eyes. He thinks about his life, how all he knew was the night lords. How he grew with the legends surrounding the legion. How some in the legion even loved him as a little brother or even a son in one instance. No longer. The child that was decimus was gone, aganst octavias wish. Before the black crown was upon his head...he said 3 words...his last 3. "Im sorry...mom..." And like that, decimus placed the corona nox upon his helm. The black crown almost merged with the helmet. Lightning screamed across the sky as thunder echoed. As the night lords decended...they felt it. Decimus had the presence of something terrible. It is the presence of one who your sins are laid bare too. It is the shadow of judgement which chills mens hearts. The darkness beyond ones final days. Decimus the Prophet was gone. And something more terrible came forth. "....Night Haunter?" One of the night lords asked, fighting the urge to kneel. Konrad Curze turned around to face his wayward sons. he saw through decimus. And he spoke, but not as decimus. But as he. "No. Not now. Not yet." And curze was gone, yet the presence remained. Decimus stood confused. "Lord decimus...what the hell have you done?" "...what we should have done on tsaguelsa. I see it now. I see everything. All at once. Its clear now. Gather our best men. Its time we remind the galaxy why we are feared. Unite the legion. And tell them this. The Judge of Darkness, takes all." Decimus spoke, confident. And it was obeyed. And the lion snapped from his meditation. He felt it inside. "Curze..."
Very good what book is that from! Aways felt sorry for Curze from the start him n Angron were always goany turn quite sad how Crze could have had a better future if he hadn’t killed the boy
I've always pictured Curze as speaking with a Romanian accent, since 1) he's kind of a vampire figure, and 2) Nostraman is described as a very sibillant, hissing tongue--and that's exactly what Romanian is.
Right at the start of the video, psychopatic? Come on. People throw that word around too much. At no point in any stories did Konrad ever demonstrate psychopathic tendencies, in fact, his deep empathy is on full display a lot of the time. Having empathy doesn't guarantee that you'll be a good person, being in touch with others is no guarantee that you won't end up twisted.
It was Big E’s godly half in the Warp who jettisoned the lads into space. Just like Slaanesh always being there as a god but also being born by the Eldar means potentially if in some reality or timeline the Emperor became a god willingly or not their is a part of him in the Warp. A consciousness acting independently and sometimes in ways that seem opposite from the one we see in the main continuity of the story. For some reason the deified Emperor has either experienced or witnessed enough possibilities as a low level god to see some merit this aspect of the plan(like starting off with 523 planets you don’t have to conquer(weakest part of my theory I think). The Emperor who had 21 sons scattered was the same guy(if we get real crazy I have a idea about them merging like voltron at some point and elevating the Golden Throne Emperor and the Warp Emperor into the proper Anathema. Or that’s my insane theory. I recently just finished Pharos so I’m sure as I get farther along this theory will have more holes then a golf course. Lol
13:00 is literally what I pray for talking about WH40k Especially since the Luna Wolves are my favourite. Not the Black Legion, not the Sons of Horus. The Luna Wolves Legion just like the old Horus wanted it to remain as.
Having visions of the future which were sometimes but not always true probably would drive me insane, now that i think about. Better all true or all delusion.
There's this theory that Konrads Soul is Caught in Soulstone in Corona Nox, a crown Konrads wore. If it's true there's a possibility for Konrad to be brought back. If would be back he could start his Redemption Arc, Konrad was already punished for his past sins by death so if he got ressurected he could start everything over and be more of a Warrior of Justice than Goth Batman x Punisher x Wolverine hybrid. Let's say that Night Haunter died from hands of Assassin and now Konrad can be "born" again as a new man. Would be cool
Konrad was justified in the end he did his duty had served his father faithfully only to have the emperor and the imperium turn on him and his legion for doing what they were created for
7:52 Honestly i think this is both resentful on his part, "see! like i said! " but also, i wanna respect it in terms of the "principle" of the thing, he DID he see the future, he got it from his father, eho thus can be said to have been able to adjust his plans to account for the future, so even if he did not CREATE all future events, he could perfectly well(MOST POWERFUL PSYKER IN THE UNIVERSE!!! whoaaa!) account for those future events IN his planning, it makes me think of the fractured lines in his latest interaction with Guilliman. Curze can be called "pouting" if they want, but Foresight robs you of excuses the same way Ultimate Power robs "God" of excuses. "god" can't be "Omniscient" AND claim not to know the answer to something, the two states of being, Knowing and Un-Knowing cancel eachother out. The Emperor can't be the most powerful psyker of all time, and certainly in humanities history, able to see the future and be a threat to ALL 4 chaos gods, _and_ give a "Huh🤷♂️Who knows!" when asked. Ability Denies Excusal. And so far as i(non-expert) know, this isn't really pinned down is it? we're still debating over the hows/whys of the scattering, which means it is NOT definitively known? and the emp would know the stories behind the scenes more than anyone. Edit:Free-Will does trump everything, or it should.
15:13 the very fact he knows he has done wrong enough for justice to mean his death, is itself proof he has the concept of justice _in_ him, really was just a matter of adhering to it. Not that gRiMdArK wants to let you be the nice guy all the time though
right after the assassin's video feed cut out a golden shield of light blocked the blade, saving Konrad's life. and in a booming voice they bother heard BIG E command Curze to LIVE!!!
I always figured the emperor knew the heresy was likely, but not inevitable. But he saw no other path to defeating chaos. Like, he calculated the different strategies and knew only one path would even possobly work.
Alpharion, in his conversation with John Grammaticus, was most likely in psychic contact with his father at the time, and the Emporer learned of the Cabal's prediction firsthand. Alpha Legion dealt in dilemmas and communicated them directly to the Emporer. But what Grammaticus offered was a Hobson's Choice, which is no choice at all.
Ive never really had the time to get too into the warhammer lore, as far as actually reading and owning the novels goes anyway, but I have a feeling that if I did, my favorite parts of it wouldn’t be the overarching characters lore, or the political intrigue, nor the vast military campaigns, though I would love those things, but rather, the little individual moments like the one described in this video, where all is laid bare, and truths are revealed. These sorts of little moments tell me all I need to know about the Primarches, and it fascinates me. Thank you for detailing to us this moment. It really helps me understand his mentality during his life.
Was it truly Conrad that didn't learn the lesson on fate? I've always thought it quite the opposite. For all the talk of him running to create the future he saw did not the emperor and the angel do the same? The worst part of his arc isn't his talk with the emperor. It's the angels refusal to kill him. The angel despite his words, ensures he rushes to his own vision knowing it will come to pass. while never altering his brothers vision of what would would come to pass. That was truly Conrad's last chance to alter his own path by another who had similar abilities. So was it truly Conrad who didn't understand or was it him who was right all along. Likewise the emperor followed that same path. He could have sent a primarch such as Vulcan, envoys or even a assassin with a note. It's funny that despite what he's told to the contrary the other 2 strongest precogs seem unable to alter that path while one if those 2 also knows of his own fate and unable to alter it as well.
So this is talked about in the heresy a lot. Curze has doubts about his future (elver is killed when he discovers this) but sanguinius for example actively tries to change the future, he believes he can prevent the black rage, he sees a path to killing Horus, etc. Generally, Sanguinius believes fate is not fixed, Conrad believes fate is fixed.
What if it was only the Night Haunter persona that died at the hands of an assassin ? maybe from the Callidus neural shredder ? With a repentant Konrad Kurze then taking on a new loyalist identity.
Deep down, I admire and respect the character of Konrad Curze. He wanted there to be justice. Unfortunately, the Ruinous Powers hijacked that; in part due to the Emperor's lack of "parenting"
He was born to fulfil a purpose, but never got a good explanation of the finer points of that purpose. "Punish the guilty", is a very vague set of parameters that can result in a lot of tragedy.
@@weightlifter2012 As far as we know. They could easily retcon that the Emperor gathered his soul to himself and has been waiting to reincarnate his son.
"nothing ever dies"... if space marines are the angels of death, are chaos marines the angels of life? (endlessly returning to and manifesting from the well of souls in the Warp)
I also never heard of this sadly obscure lore and theorising is rare on the namely lore channels like I said please do more at least from time to time ❤
Curze is like a player who searches for walk through for mass effect choices and result. But ultimately choose to speed run it leaving the all the comrade’ side quest that determines the ending.
Little by little I'm trying to effectively retcon Konrad's name to Konrad Kurze (Yep. Just a C to a K), because I feel it's more fitting when we have Corvus Corax and Konrad Kurze. CC and KK.
Thanks for Emperor-level voice work Tiger, and great video as always Sandman. I wondered how strong an assassin has to be to take out a Primarch, but she is taken out rather abruptly, shame. Slightly off-topic, but what do people mean When they say Horus is the most powerful Primarch like in what sense?
Thanks dude So originally, Horus is not the most powerful Primarch (certainly in terms of combat prowess), as there are many that can outmatch him. His true strength lies in his charisma, almost everyone likes him (one of the reasons he was the perfect choice to lead the heresy). However there's an important book in the Horus Heresy called Vengeful spirit, which centres around a gate at molech, this is the gate the emperor used to bargain with the chaos gods..Horus does it too (though he really becomes their pawn), and when he returns he has been imbued with huge amounts of power. From this point on, he is certainly the most powerful Primarch (no one else can go toe to toe with big e). In the siege he's described as literally glowing/throbbing with power
@Sandman 40K Wow! I didn't know such a gate existed. The Emperor feeling the need to bargain with the Chaos Gods and Horus doing the same just makes me respect Abaddon even more lol I'm wondering what's the status of that gate today 🤔
It's an incredible video. I love it. My only issue is the voicing of konrad. Although mad, his speech was not impaired. If you want to deviate from your own voice, this can be done subtly. There is no need to overexheret yourself. Love the video. Regards Dan
Remember the Emperor had cast out his love - perhaps this voice is that part of his soul - realizing he might be able to help his son one more time. Filled with love and affection for his child.
What accent was the VA for Curze going for? It sounds like you told a 55yo smoker actively dying with congestive heart failure who's only had Fat Bastard as a vocal reference to do an Irish accent lmao
The truth of the Primarch's scattering has been revealed in the Horus Heresy novels. They had a really shitty mom that chose to throw her children into literal hell, and then forget about them, rather than let them be close to and work with their dad.
I never quite understood the fascination with traitors turning loyalis. The Imperium is the greatest threat to humanity in 40k, why would it be a good thing if a deamon primarch returned to fulfil the Emperor's schemes?
You can blame the attempts to have different spans of editions in 30-40 decades at attempting to expand the milky way galaxy of Warhammer 40K with it's lore only to drip it for way too little until recently, even at the cost of making Imperium less of the "bad guys" Even the current latest storyline of the plot-progressing Chaos factions' plotlines are at the cost of the supposed 'fact' about "Imperium wage wars on each other way more often than with chaos and xenos combined), this on top of making Chaos too OP while xenos factions being restricted to main 4-5 ones for a galaxy as big as Milky Way to be portrayed in details the span of around 10.000 years with lots of red herrings, unreliable narrators and inconclusive interpretive stories that breeds only perpetual insanity of non-stop speculations until the lore became husks sooner or later

This subject was always the biggest plot hole I have noticed in primarch lore, and I had no idea father Curze already brought it up, though I should have.
AVE DOMINUS NOX!
And thanks for the video!
God I love how much 40k fans associate with their chosen legions/chapters
@@SandmanofTerra would you believe I'm wearing my Night Lords power armor hoodie as I write these comments?
Great video, and you were properly respectful of the God-Emperor, beloved by all, unlike many other RUclipsrs who do not deserve to be named.

Even if that is a case - he decided to end his existence, cause he've seen no point in continuation. I doubt that wants to be resurrected...
That last segment, the functioning of the universe part just made me get over my fear of dicerolls in tabletop.
Also I am reminded by Vulkan's speech of a line from Hellsing:
"Integra, there are many immortal monsters who roam this earth. When I look at them I wonder were they created out of a desire for immortality? Many of them desire war, I have seen them roaming the bloodiest of battlefields but in their battle cries I hear a craving; I think they cry out for death."
"Nosferatu. The no-life king; his castle, his kingdom, its' people, his loved ones, even his very identity... everything was lost... All that remains is a pale shadow, wandering from battle to battle. I have come to believe Integra, that those frightening immortals are in fact; frail, sobbing children."

"Lord decimus...what the hell have you done?"
"...what we should have done on tsaguelsa.

I love Konrad's voice acting here, it's sounds totally in character, properly deranged and ridiculous at the same time.
Great Perspective Awesome Vid ❗️
Thanks for watching!
I've always pictured Curze as speaking with a Romanian accent, since 1) he's kind of a vampire figure, and 2) Nostraman is described as a very sibillant, hissing tongue--and that's exactly what Romanian is.
Curz sounds like a drunk homeless dude lol You're drunk Konrad go home...wait... you blew it up...go sleep on the couch bro
Sandman I thought that was your voice acting lol you have came a long way baby!
Lol

"We all make choices but in the end our choices make us" ― Andrew Ryan
Is it possible that he’s still alive and that metaphorically the Night haunted died but not Konrad curze? Would people like that?
There's definitely many theories like that! But nothing confirmed
An effigy of the emperor in corpses is pretty accurate tbh, given all the genocide
Does everyone go to the warp after death? Someone may have answered this for me, but I can't remember.

7:04 ah yes
the "Ancient Terran Parenting Techniques" _yes_
I always figured the emperor knew the heresy was likely, but not inevitable. But he saw no other path to defeating chaos. Like, he calculated the different strategies and knew only one path would even possobly work.
Alpharion, in his conversation with John Grammaticus, was most likely in psychic contact with his father at the time, and the Emporer learned of the Cabal's prediction firsthand. Alpha Legion dealt in dilemmas and communicated them directly to the Emporer. But what Grammaticus offered was a Hobson's Choice, which is no choice at all.
Who died first tho, sangy or curze?
Ive never really had the time to get too into the warhammer lore, as far as actually reading and owning the novels goes anyway, but I have a feeling that if I did, my favorite parts of it wouldn’t be the overarching characters lore, or the political intrigue, nor the vast military campaigns, though I would love those things, but rather, the little individual moments like the one described in this video, where all is laid bare, and truths are revealed. These sorts of little moments tell me all I need to know about the Primarches, and it fascinates me. Thank you for detailing to us this moment. It really helps me understand his mentality during his life.
Thanks man! Cheers for watching!
Kurze is such a tragic figure . I really wish he had somehow been redeemed and become a loyalist
What if it was only the Night Haunter persona that died at the hands of an assassin ? maybe from the Callidus neural shredder ? With a repentant Konrad Kurze then taking on a new loyalist identity.
Kurze book was pretty good.
why use that voice for conrad? im interested to know, i was expecting for it to be sophisticated and raspy dracula-esque voice
By this point in his life, Konrad had utterly broken down. He was going absolutely feral.

By the cheesey Dracula accent of Sevetar that was amazing!!! 😮
I'd love if Horus came back and became loyal again.
That would be completely wild!

Thanks dude
So originally, Horus is not the most powerful Primarch (certainly in terms of combat prowess), as there are many that can outmatch him.
The Emperor feeling the need to bargain with the Chaos Gods and Horus doing the same just makes me respect Abaddon even more lol
I'm wondering what's the status of that gate today 🤔

It'll be an endgame scenario if they were to do it but they like to leave the door open for it

Why is Kurzes voice so messed up I assume that’s intentional
Curze is completely insane at this point in time,
The truth of the Primarch's scattering has been revealed in the Horus Heresy novels. They had a really shitty mom that chose to throw her children into literal hell, and then forget about them, rather than let them be close to and work with their dad.

They might well be an exception, I'm just quoting from the book my man
what music is used in these videos?
I use epidemic sound, if you let me know which song, I can try and find the name
I never quite understood the fascination with traitors turning loyalis. The Imperium is the greatest threat to humanity in 40k, why would it be a good thing if a deamon primarch returned to fulfil the Emperor's schemes?
You can blame the attempts to have different spans of editions in 30-40 decades at attempting to expand the milky way galaxy of Warhammer 40K with it's lore only to drip it for way too little until recently, even at the cost of making Imperium less of the "bad guys"
Even the current latest storyline of the plot-progressing Chaos factions' plotlines are at the cost of the supposed 'fact' about "Imperium wage wars on each other way more often than with chaos and xenos combined), this on top of making Chaos too OP while xenos factions being restricted to main 4-5 ones for a galaxy as big as Milky Way to be portrayed in details the span of around 10.000 years with lots of red herrings, unreliable narrators and inconclusive interpretive stories that breeds only perpetual insanity of non-stop speculations until the lore became husks sooner or later
Even Curze's voice is torture.
Had you not made Konrad sounds like he was on fentanyl it would have been a lot better
