- Hello everyone and welcome to a new episode on my howtodo youtube channel. In this episode I will show you how to remove and replace the intake manifold together with the engine stop valve and together with the egr valve on the Mercedes with the w212 2.2 diesel engines that are installed on several Mercedes models until now. This operation is very long and requires unprecedented precision and patience, and in this episode I have put the entire operation that you must do with the purpose of informing you and helping you in the future works that are of the same nature on this engine

So how long would you say it takes overall to do the job? Was advised it takes 2 days to remove/clean/reassemble intake manifold.

This car was my second one for this job. It took me about 6 complete hours to do it in my garage without lifting the car up because I didn't have an lift (elevator) in the garage. I'm sure anybody who work on Mercedes or who has knowledge can do it even faster then me.

You can do it! Just follow my steps and don't rush, if it's your first time you can do it in a day 🙏

Hello, yes it's the chain which it's worn out, the chain it's original and it has never been replaced. And also the injectors have some bad seals wich will be replaced soon🙏

My car is a w166 ml 250 bluetec.
The engine warning has been turned on and the diagnostic has checked that the throttle is stopped at 97.4% and the fault code is p0122.
The car doesn't have any symptoms yet.
If the throttle body is shut down, what symptoms will happen to the car?
I would appreciate it if you could also let me know if replacing the throttle body will resolve the symptoms.
Hello. Thanks you for supporting me and my channell, from what I can read in your comment your throttle body it's faulty and it's not working in the right parameters. It's not a big problem if it's not working how it should work because the throttle body it's there only to make your car shut down smoothly when you turn of the ignition and also to start it up a little bit smoother. Also if you don't replace your engine will make a lot of vibrations when you will turn it of and that's not good for the engine and all the bushing wich it's supporting it. If you replace the throttle body you will fix your problem and the engine will work smoother and also the check engine light from the dashboard wil dissappear.
One extra step remove the engine firewall it wayyy easier on the egr-aluminium part ot the intake manifold the last two bolts on the end of the engine
It's not easy to remove the engine firewall. I tried it and in my opinion it's easyer to do it from underneath.

I have a c220 cdi with the om651 engine
And sometimes thick white smoke starts coming out from the exhaust with bad smell like matches
I checked the temperature is ok
Oil level after 10k km is ok no burning
Coolant level is ok
But where i live the diesel quality is bad
What are the possible causes for the white smoke and should i be worried ?
Also when it happens there is absolutely nothing wrong with car normal idle normal engine sound no loss in power everything seems fine except the white smoke

If you don't have any coolant loss then you don't have to worry. Buy you could also replace the glow plugs just to be safe and good. Also put some quality diesel in it if you can. Cheers

P042F73 The exhaust gas recirculation positioner (high pressure) is jammed closed. The actuator does not open. E220 w212 . And car won t accelerate. I turn off the engine then will work as normal a bit. Can be clean the egr or is something else? Thank you!!!
Yes you can, but I recommend you to replace it completely.

I am working on the same engine and I am looking for AIT sensor (air intake temperature sensor) do you by any chance know where it is located? some say it's on the throttle body? any help would be appreciated! great video by the way
Hello my friend and thank you for feedback, the AIT sensor on this engine it's located right in the pipe on wich the throttle body it's connected, the pipe it's going in the intake manifold and the sensor it's in the middle of the intake manifold and the throttle body. You have to remove all the parts showed you in the video to reach it and to be able to remove it safely and clean it or replace it. In the video I also showed the sensor(AIT) wich I CLEANED. GOOD LUCK MY MAN.

Hello, the air temperature sensor it's located over the intake manifold and you cand t reach it unless you remove the intake manifold. Also the air debimeter it's located next to the air filter, you will see a huge hose wich goes into the air filter underneath the ecm/ecu and there it it.
All that work to remove throttle body??
Yes, that's how difficult it's on this type of engine.
The German engineers are not very considerate with the mechanical maintenance personnel.
With the OM 651 engin its like that.Very difficult to work on
I don't think it quite functions like a throttle body, more so to assist the egr in routing the exhaust gasses into the intake.
Hi I think I need to replace my throttle valve. Looks like a big job And alot of stripping. Mine is a c class so probably less room.
I have codes po123-15 throttle valve short circuit to positive and p2112 throttle valve jammed closed.
Yes, your throttle body it's stuck in a closed position due to excessive build ap carbon but I recommend you to replace it and not clean it because it's a difficult job and you don't want to do it more then one time.

You know where the coolant temperatur sensor is i cant find it
I can't really explain it, but it's located in front of the engine next to Serpentine belt. Close to the thermostat.
How do you bleed the cooling system, or is automatic?.
You could remove the bottom hose from the radiator or you cand just remove the hoses from around the egr valve and the coolant will leak itself.

I did today the same job on my C Class with the OM651 and i also removed this fuel pipe. Unfortunately my auto did not start up, i tried a few times approximately 6-7 times without success, i am a bit frustrated. Tomorrow i will check once again if i have forgotten a cable plug or a vacuum pipe but i don't think its the case, last but not least i am tending to do a fuel vent direct on the injectors. Do you have any oyher suggestion ?
Probably you forgot to connect the throttle body connector, try verifying if all the connectors are installed properly, chech if the hoses are connected to the vacum and check the fuel pressure sensors. And you could try to spray some starter spray into the air intake and start the car, someone should spray the starter spray into the air intake and someone should start the car at the same time, eventually it will start for sure if you did al of this things right. Don't worry because sometimes depends from car to car it's harder or easyer to start them after jobs like this. I experienced a lot of cars doing like this.
Thanks for the reply, would you direct vent the injectors or not ? As for the vacuum hose I did found yesterday one that is hanging next to the gearbox and to be honest it is larger than all the other vacuum hoses......I try to see if it fit anywhere but did not see a reasonable connection. As for the throttle body I am 100% positive that I connected it because the harnesses with the connector has hold for me in place the throttle body until I fit the 4 screws.

Yes you can reuse the old throttle gasket if you are not able to buy a new one. It's completely fine if it's in a good condition ✌️

If it's clogged or blocked yes, it can cause black smoke

Salut et bien je qu on a tous le même problème enfin ce moteur OM651 de chez Mercedes est vraiment une catastrophe c est le moteur qui une réputation incassable maintenant c est la réputation d être le pire moteur de chez Mercedes aujourd'hui acheter une Mercedes c est juste acheter une marque qui a eut c est moment de gloire mais ce temps là est désormais fini moi je suis très très déçu d avoir acheté cette voiture et peut vous dire que je déconseille a toutes personnes d acheter Mercedes et il n y a pas que sa c est aussi l après vente le service entretien qui est vraiment une catastrophe des prix annoncés et au final c est pas sa vous appeler il vous laisse attendre sans jamais vous rappeler vraiment j aimerait que la maison mère de chez Mercedes puisse lire ce message et quel sache vraiment ce qui ce passe en réalité chez les représentants de la marque vous payer même plus un service mais juste la marque une honte internationale..voilà

@HOWTODO0828 can this water cooled egr cause coolant water to leak and its hard to find...is the egr the cause of coolant to drop
Underneath the fuel filter it's a plastic pipe and inside that pip3 it's traveling antifreeze. I saw a lot of cars with that plastic pipe cracked or broked due to corossionand it start leaking antifreeze. You should check it too and see you you have a problem right there.
