Port Surgery for Easier Chemotherapy My Cancer Journey Vlog #14 October 2022 Ovarian Carcinosarcoma

- To help me with chemotherapy and blood draws, I made a decision to have a port installed in my chest. This facilitates easier blood draws and chemotherapy, or so they say. most importantly, it minimizes the pain. With everything else going on with my cancer, I really don’t need any other procedure that could inflict pain of any sort. If I can avoid a little bit of pain, I will.

To your son, I'm so sorry your mom was gone. You were so good to her!
Stage 4 melanoma here. 3.5 years. Currently, no evidence of disease.
The port has been great for me.
Your hat is so cute.
Have a fantastic weekend!🙏🏽🙏🏽💚🙏🏽
What great news - congratulations on your NED!
God bless you! I hope you continue to feel better and have a great weekend.
Have a great weekend too!
Prayers for a happy, comfortable weekend. Hope the port helps. The less pokes the better!
Absolutely! Thank you!
Hi Maria, you made a wise choice...the worst part for me was getting stuck 18 weeks in a row. My friend had to hold my hand for that part! It was only momentary but it hurt. After that, I either slept through the chemo or talked to whoever was with me. In retrospect, I wish I had gotten the port. You may want to get the little terrycloth turbans, head will get cold in the winter, so I slept with them. Or any knit hat is great too. I have to say that the hair was upsetting at first but the least of it. I just got used to it and no sooner did the chemo end, I had a little pixie hairdo come in..so just remember this part is so temporary. I got a wig from Paula Young website, very reasonable and realistic looking. I will add you to my prayers tonight as I light my Friday candles. I am so rooting for you, you seem like such a wonderful person and bless you for sharing your story! Hugs :-)
I can’t imagine 18 weeks in a row being poked like that! Thank you for the turban recommendation - I didn’t get any of those and that explains why I see others using them!
Maria passed away this month. Way to soon. She looks so happy in this vlog
I hate to read this 😢I just found her channel today & I've been watching one after the other. Wow, what a beautiful woman, inside and out! I don't understand why the good always gets taken away too soon....RIP sweet Maria & God bless her family remaining 🙏🏻 💔
You will appreciate having a port. It really does make things so much easier. Ask your nurse for some numbing cream that you can apply at home before you go in for your chemo. You put a glob on top and then a big bandage that your nurse can give you too. You then get to the hospital, they take off the bandage, wipe off the cream, and access your port w out you feeling but just a little pressure. ❤
Will do, thanks!
So glad the port surgery went well and hopefully makes things a little easier in that department at least! It's nice to hear your son was looking after you and that you have a doggy friend nearby! They are both great comforts I'm sure. Take care of yourself and best wishes to you always x
Thank you so much ☺️

Great timing on this video. My good friend is getting her port in next week. She has breast cancer.
Hope the draining of the belly went well and you are feeling better. Hope you and your family have a wonderful weekend.
Thank you so much, I hope you have a great weekend too. Best of luck to your friend.
Sending you a big 🫂 hug from Atlanta. I hope your weekend is wonderful and that you feel better after the fluid is drained.
I do feel so much better now that the fluid has been drained.
Hello! Great to see you lovely. Thinking about you 😊🤗
Hello, thanks for your support!
It's good you got a port. I did not have one and my veins were a mess. I hope the fluid stops soon. Take care.
Thank you, I will try. Sorry to hear that you’re still feeling the effects on your veins 😞
@@MyCancerJourneyMaria my veins are OK now, except for one that can not be used. They were a mess. Like you said searching for a good vein. I glad you got a port. I am sorry for the confusion. I think you are doing great with all you are dealing with. You are an inspiration. ♥️
Hi Maria, you seem so upbeat & positive, thinking of you on your journey to being cancer free. Take care my lovely. Lots of hugs & kisses Linda 💙
Thank you so much ☺️

Stay strong lovely lady
Will do!

Hi Maria, What’s your dog’s name? Adorable! I’m glad you got your port, and I hope it eases your journey somewhat. ❤❤❤
Hi Julie - my dog's name is Harley. She is such a love and I'm so grateful for her company while I fight this thing.
Hi Maria! Looking good! There was less fluid this time, wasn’t there? Things seem like they are improving. Was that your puppy? My dog’s name is Peabody. He’s in a kennel right now but I’m supposed to move into my new house around November 1st, so I’ll get him back! Yaay! I’m still praying for you every day. Love and hugs, Mary
Yes, that’s my puppy Harley 😍. A little less fluid than last week but still a lot. Will be happy when there’s no fluid to worry about!
Hi Maria, Great that you have your port in place. I think it will definitely save you many painful 'repokes'.
Your dog is a cutie and i'm so glad that your son is helping you to be more comfortable.
Have a good weekend!
Have a great weekend too!
