A great pianist with such an obvious affinity with Mendelssohn. Such sincerity, she has something to say, really something to tell us. Exciting from beginning to end, hope to hear Ms Brauß soon for real.

Just a notice, your word "Anschlagskultur" seems to be a little bit peculiar for me, a swede writing in english. Like if it was some culture about how you can hit the keys, a certain way of doing it. Yes you are right, it is important, but if it is a special culture I dont know. Or have I missed your point? Anyway, I also like Elisabeths playing very much.

Elisabeth Brauss is not only an excellent expert for Mozart, but also for Felix Mendelssohn, as you can hear it now in Wigmore Hall!

These lovely variations are perhaps between Beethoven and Brahms, but I prefer to think of them as If Mendelssohn in his worship for his newly found Bach wanted to compose something like Bach´s Goldberg Variations, in a newer context. Just a hypotesis. Anyhow, this is gorgeous music, and Elisabeth Brauss makes the best of it.

Diese Musikerin ist keine Klangfetischistin sondern stellt sich hinter die Ideen und die Gestalt dieser Komposition.

All classical music, including opera, must be memorized early in the process. It’s the only way to master it. It’s really not that hard to memorize pieces, especially when you get to this level. No doubt she’s been playing piano since she was a young girl and memorization is second nature to her.

@@dazzlingdeb8427 Thanks for the reply. The way you explain it makes sense. When I consider the number of tunes I can recall from my head it makes you realise what the human brain is capable of, and also that there is something about specific about our relationship to music than allows us to recall a random complex set of notes perfectly.
