Brilliant! Such clear explanations on squat that draw my full attention to feet weight bearing, knees alignment, and keep the back in neutral position. When I process these movement patterns in a slow and steady pace, my nervous system is learning! Thank you, Taro.
I just wanted to say thank you for saving my life. For 8 months i had severe scoliosis and couldnt eveb move and slowly I was able to finally walk all thanks to you. Thank you
wow! how wonderful! Thank you so much for sharing your experience.
❤️❤️❤️
Which exercises did you use to start? I have a similar problem, lying down mostly for over a year or being pushed in a wheelchair because of back pain. When I sit my back is now very rounded and when I try to straighten my back or stand up it always hurts
@@evamaria7298 you can search for "fix scoliosis exercises taro"
@@fhoniemcphonsen8987 thank you!
finally someone is doing a step by step guide to fix the whole bodys movements thank you god. god bless taro Iwamoto.
my pleasure!
Taro, your clear explanation of the process of determining optimal positioning in this exercise is very helpful. Thank you.
glad to hear it!
Thank you so much for squats.
Am 80 years old And weak muscles. Am grateful for alternatives making it easier.
😊🙏
Pure awareness
Feet, pelvis, back.
👌
I like the tip to NOTICE the weight on your feet. My intentional squats are good, but getting up off the "slouch couch" I find I do have more weight on the heels. I am now getting up mindfully!
I worked with a PT a few years ago. At first I was unable to squat with correct form more than 45 degrees down from standing, but the PT helped me develop strength and range. I tried your instructions now and I’m happy to discover I am still doing correct form per your directions here, and can do reps bending the knee to 15 degrees below 90. Still work to do to be able to go all the way to the calves.
Thanks for these comprehensive tips. One more, less obvious and more difficult to notice issue is alignment of shoulders and hips. Also, it is worthwhile noting that, like the squatting spine angle, an optimal feet angle too depends on anatomy. It takes some experimenting to find it.
I have searched for something like this for so long! I never feel like I’m getting squats right, and I work out a lot. Thank you so much!
You're welcome!
Thank you Taro very much. I like so much you're clear and concise instruction.
Welcome:)

EPIC!

I wonder how permanent short lessons like these are compared to traditionally longer 30+ minute ATM lessons.
just for clarification, these are not Feldenkrais lessons, though my teaching style is definitely influenced by Feldenkrais Method.
👍
👍👍🎯
Taro, like your method of breaking down the squat movement. What martial art do you practise?
i have background in karate, kempo, Aikido, Tai Chi.
Interesting. I can easily squat becasue of long term yoga practice but I have never done it this consciously. I got aware of that I have a tendency to make a bit of a curve above the buttocks...but are we not supposed to have curve there?
its good to become aware of your habitual movement patterns so you can learn another pattern, which can be helpful
My knees hurt when I squat.
my primal squat videos might help. they are in Improve Squat playlist.
Crap, I have everyone of those wrong techniques.
i guess this can provide you with the opportunity to learn and improve:)
